update - fixed the half hashing board by scratching off the pcb mask and tinning the copper and linking 2 strings of chips with wire. pics soon!
Kudos! I await the photos.....

updated. its crude but it works. since i saved this board i might try my chip theory.
Can not be crude if it works ...! I wonder what could have triggered the failure that it by-passes seeing the board was hashing OK.

So mod complete ... setup completed. CP2102 working great ... getting like 50gh/s with a blade ... but

[2014-11-21 21:45:12] Bitmain detect (3:4) failed to initialise (incorrect device?)

having this like every 5 seconds poping up.

Any idea ?

EDIT : Got it, it's my old BFL running on BFGMiner Wink

Anything I can do to make my CGminer ignore my BFL ?
use --hotplug 0 then cgminer wont try to find new devices all the time

regarding driver, i just tried different ones, until i found it :-p also make sure you install zadig driver for each cp2102s you have connected

Yeah i use it for both cp2102 - winusb driver

Thanks for --hotplug 0 ;-)

So I rebooted my pc 2 times and now both card are working. I got one of the two that have some "invalid nonce - HW error" once in a while, I wonder why. I will take a look at the voltage again to see if anything is wrong

Ive updated the git repo with support for cp2108 (since i dont have anything to test with, its experimental) ;-p

Nicehash has done upgrade https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=850620.msg9621985#msg9621985 solving #xnsub issue You have pointed to. Would You update bmsc git repo?

update - fixed the half hashing board by scratching off the pcb mask and tinning the copper and linking 2 strings of chips with wire. pics soon!

also it looks like we may be able to link 2 boards (or more) by desoldering the first and last chip on alternate boards. the last chip has no pin outs to another chip and has a resistor tied to pin 37 (respond input). so technically we tie chip 31 on the first board to chip 2 on the second board and it should simulate 1 board with more chips on single mode.

Great idea. It could work.

careful with the first chip, he is the only who has quartz and clocks all other chips. I got a short circuit between the Rx Tx when i connect the board without turning off the power supply)). The board conducts heat well Smiley -soldering with  hot air was difficult

yes i know, i have 2 boards that dont set clock so im thinking the first chip or quartz shorted because the boards have correct voltage. hence why im trying this, the test points after the first chip lead to the second so its kind of like a bypass but the first chip has to be pulled or there may be issues and the last one has no test points so the test points before the last chip will work.

Check the resistance between Tx and Rx and Tx-Gnd Rx-Gnd.If there is a short circuit - the first chip is dead and must  be resoldered

Two boards running good since the last 12 hours. Adjusted my air flow to cooldown then down. I think they were overheating a bit. I'm waiting for some heatsink. steady 98.xx gh/s

I'm working on a way to run the S1 blades with the beagle bone black using the S2 software on the SD Card.  I have the original file for the S2 straight from Bitmain.  It's all the files compressed into one. I've been tinkering with this in my spare time, and am having some good success.  The best thing about the S2 program is that you can have ALOT more chips in a chain than the S1 program. On that note if someone has a PCB design that could run the S1boards.  I would be very interested in getting my hands on one for testing.  I would have no problem paying for it.  If we could figure out how to run the S2 software on it, we could run many hash boards from it.  If someone is interested in any of my blabering please pm me and lets see if we can make use of all these unused S1 hash boards. LETS MAKE A FRANKIN MINER!!!

Let me know what you like for each board.

My projects requires 16 boards for a 4 U Server Unit with Raspberry PI and block cooling which I am about to start building now.

I hope some of you also do code with bfgminer since 4.10 now fully support Antminer boards :-) And I do have a few boards already as spare and also I do chip mode them all before using them so they compete with the S3's

This may be a bit off topic, but is it possible to run 4 boards instead of 2 from the original S1 control board?

Yep it IS possible, and BITMAIN have said as much. However, the max is exactly that too, aka 4 boards.

Wicked, I have 2 units, 1 won't let me log in via www anymore, but it's still hashing if power cycle it.
Any links to this mod?

I have not seen any mods for this, but if you look at the S1 board circuitry, you will see the unused tx and rx lines for a basic mod.
If you are not an electronics person, I'd be more inclined to shoo you on the direction of sorting out the login rather than the mod, but still, someone here may have more info on the mod.

First, make sure your trying to connect to right IP (maybe it's on the DHCP ?) Use a network sniffer to make sure you attempting to connect the right IP.

If your problem is a login one, reset it and reconfigure.

If the unit is still hashing it means everything is fine with the controller board / firmwave.

I have the correct IP, the www isn't working but it's hashing.
SSH won't connect either.
Perhaps I'll do a factory reset.  I have always had trouble with this 1 unit, it likes to go drop down to 80 from 180 sometimes.
If I can log in and reboot, using the www or ssh, I'll get x's.  Only way to clear that is to power off the PSU and power on again.
Then I can log in, sometimes.

You might have a faulty controller board.
