I'm pretty upset and frazzled, I received a bitmain antminer s3 for my son and I to work on together as a hobby he is 9, and I recieved it today. I was really excited and thought the installation would be straightforward but no it was anything but that. I had it hooked up to my router and I could not find it after following the intructions so I hooked it up straight to my computer typed in the default ip address and walla there it was I followed the intructions and went into the client using root root then I changed the network settings form static to dhcp that when everything went wrong I hooked it back up to my router and was not able to find it so I hooked it up once again and ran the ip scan to find out what the new ip address was two items came up my router and shenzen something technology. I typed that ip number into my address search bar and nothing came up. I am lost now please help. First I would try just restarting it and have the S3 connected to your router, if truly in DHCP it should find it. Does the S3 fan's seem to be spinning like it is mining when you cannot find it? What PSU are you using (just making sure you are not getting connnection and it is trying to mine and having problems due to PSU I doubt it with S3 but still possible). When making network changes I would take a screenshot, yes it's overkill but even though I have configured a good amount of miners I still do it. It gives you something to look at just incase your IP change went wrong from wrong selection (lucky I have not needed it ... just like to be prepared). Ok assuming you have restarted, tried to find and no luck still no matter what log into router to and see connected devices and see if it's there. But take a deep breath as there is a reset button. I am curious on questions I asked before doing one. Just to warn you if you do reset make sure to follow a guide and DO NOT turn off power/lose power during it or you could end up with a S3 controller board that needs re-programed.

Status Name IP Radmin Http Https Ftp Rdp Shared folders NetBIOS group Manufacturer MAC address User Comments Ok 192.168.1.xx 192.168.1.xx Shenzhen Ogemray Technology Co., Ltd. Update after I set it up the old owner had it set to a specific address so when I changed from static to dhcp it went back to the address he had it set at. I checked the unit as it is hooked up to my router and is working great. Ok whats the next step to get my router to tie to my computer. When I changed from static to dhcp it inactivated the 192.168.1.99 and activated the top number I know thats it now how to access it. thats listed as inactive under my ip scanner. Ok whats the next step.lol Thank you so much for any help as I am a disabled veteran. my pc is a custom built Intel I7 4th generation computer running windows 10. this one is Dead 192.168.1.99 192.168.1.99 Paragon Technologies Inc.

follow up three it must have been windows 10 because when I went to connect the miner to the modem it said that there was an update to fix the issue. Windows restarted and connected tom my miner and the internet. which before I could only do one or the other. Should I keep my miner on static or switch it to dhcp. I also was able to change my miner address I found out at my security camera shared the same ip address as my miner how crazy is that.

I like static as I can alway's find it at same IP. With multiple miners it becomes nice to have. I would either 1 leave alone with DHCP looking at your issues, I hate for you to go though trying to set networking again. Or 2 take a screenshot of what you trying to use as settings with static and show us on here so we can see if something is wrong. If you have security camera and S3 figihting for IP it would cause problems. But again reading last 3 posts if it's working might think about leaving it for now.

Is the MAC address showing up? My S7 blanked it out when I switched from DHCP to Static for some reason. I did a reset and reconnected thru the default address and was able to successfully change things the second time around.

ok when I try to change my default gate way to 192.168.1.1 I get an error message that says warning the default gateway is not on the same network segment (subnet) that is defined by two ip address do you want to continue then when I hit continue I lose my internet connection with my router. My desktop Is wireless connected to my router and my antminer is connected to my router. my normal routers default gateway is a high number. Is there a possibility that I need to get a new router Please somebody help me out.
Are you using the right subnet mask? I noticed in your earlier post you said the following: Status Name IP Radmin Http Https Ftp Rdp Shared folders NetBIOS group Manufacturer MAC address User Comments Ok 192.168.1.xx 192.168.1.xx Shenzhen Ogemray Technology Co., Ltd. Update after I set it up the old owner had it set to a specific address so when I changed from static to dhcp it went back to the address he had it set at. You said, "192.168.1.xx 192.168.1.xx" and "192.168.1.99 192.168.1.99" which leads me to believe that you are typing the IP address twice, once in the IP address and once in the subnet mask. Based on the following statement: Ok guys here I go again I am able to log on to the interface and set up my miner but once I do nothing happens? here is the info my computer won't let me take screen shots so I am copy pasting antMiner Model S3 Firmware Version Fri Jan 9 20:41:34 CST 2015 Kernel Version 3.10.12 Local Time Mon Dec 2 11:42:52 2013 Uptime 0h 15m 6s Load Average 0.00, 0.04, 0.09 Memory Total Available 48848 kB / 61568 kB (79%) Free 38852 kB / 61568 kB (63%) Cached 7772 kB / 61568 kB (12%) Buffered 2224 kB / 61568 kB (3%) Network IPv4 WAN Status

the above is off of the front screen of my miner status
You should be using the subnet mask 255.255.255.0. In other words, I was expecting you to write "192.168.1.xx 255.255.255.0" or "192.168.1.99 255.255.255.0" in that first quote I gave.

Without knowing any more than your picture, I'd bet my money that your internet connection isn't working. Go in System->Network and see if it's receiving/sending anything. Are you using ethernet cable or wifi solution?

I refer to the S3's as tanks in a good way. They really seem to just keep going and going, I hope all my S3's are mining for someone still. Many of these have had multiple owners and keep moving around. Also S3's are miners that had personalities some ran better at certain freq then others, so it really got the miner to tweak it. I have fond memories of tweaking my S3 to S3+'s.

ok guys I got my bitminer going I switched it to dhcp with some great help from a friend, and then I was able to go into my router and look at the ip address being used by ethernet one on the back of my modem/router. I can't believe it was that easy. If anybody runs into problems trying to setup their miner with Frontier Communications I can help you out. Thanks for all the replies and sorry for the small posts.
