To go back to mining solo, do I set the reward recipient to myself?

Yes

Thanks. What is actually going on in the backend when we change the reward recipient information?

bittrex's backend uses api calls that are in nxt 1.2.x, but not nxt 1.1.x. Burst 1.0.x is based on nxt 1.1.x, so it didn't have those features. The burst 1.1.x releases have the new api calls, and they went into effect on block 11800. bittrex's deposit also requires users to attach a message to their deposit apparently, which required the new ui update only present in burst 1.1.2. The new ui update was only recently released, so it's only been about 26 hours since everything is up to spec with what they wanted. Whether they add it now remains to be seen.

I setup a private pool because I was having lots of issues with the public ones. I am in the process of moving my miners over. This is designed for experienced miners only! I will not be providing any support. Credit to uray for open sourcing his pool.

Fees are set at 0.

If you have 2TB+ PM me and I will give you a link.

The pool works perfectly, no more errors on submitting shares like others! But we need some TB! People with big plots, join this one!

No it is not safe to send to trex from another exchange, since you need to attach a message.

Attaching a message requires you have the new ui in burst 1.1.2

The trex article also says this:
Quote
When you are withdrawing, the address you are withdrawing to MUST have a previous deposit. NXT addresses require the presence of a public key.  We currently have no way for you to specify a public key like other exchanges.  This may mean you can't deposit directly to another exchange as well.
This does not apply to burst. Public key announcements are optional in burst, not required like in nxt.
