I don't know how to install it, I just know how to download it If you have the GMP source, you need to compile it. ./configure --enable-cxx --enable-static --disable-shared --enable-alloca=alloca (note1: you may have to specify --build=[your hardware] if config.guess gets it wrong) (note2: using static library gives you a faster miner than shared library) make make check (optional test suite before installing) make install then run your minerd compile again. Incidentally, you need other libraries too, such as CURL. Installation is much the same. I will continue this tomorrow, thank you before, Spexx

Da fuck is his deal? Doesn't he/she knows how Magi works? Yo MagiSimpson, calm down a bit!!!! Been with us from the start. Ought to know better .... and not the only one either. 5400 kH/s is HUGE! For a comparison, I've been trying some mining with a server that I use for FEM modeling and it was about 300 kH/s. 5400 is almost 20 time that, that would be something like 600 xeon cores, no way it's not a botnet. ... or about 385 Vishera cores which would be 48 x AMD 9590s, so it could easily be a server farm. There was a time early on when we needed high hashrates like that, but certainly not now and it is killing the block rewards. The last time that I did some calculations on it, anybody mining at over 250 Kh/s was part of the problem. I have actually corresponded with a few of the overminers - deaf ears I'm afraid. Stuck with Bitcoin thinking. 5400 Kh/s is not only huge, it's obscene. In addition, you might notice that nearly all the huge miners do not donate anything extra to the pool(s) either. Now that is shameful. Plus, their overmining is severely reducing the income for the pool(s). I would like to suggest that the pool operators might consider voluntarily limiting individual hashrates just to protect their income stream from the coin. I totally agree spexx/z0n0/ElMacho, i think it will be good to put the limit somewhere around highest hashrate single fastest cpu can have - 270khs and for pools to have automatically 0.1% per 100 khs so 270 khs - 0.27% etc. Everyone knows that 50% of success of any coin is to have large amount of people with low amount of coin in they wallet someone who mine few magis per day wont sell them cheap and right away, i mine @ 180 - 250 khs right now at home but i could mine with 600 khs. I could mine like that guy at work for last 6 months with free hardware and power and i would have around 4-5 mhs but i wasnt going to do it bc that will ruin minning for regular miners i already told that to z0n0 when we were chating in pm month ago, look what happened to spread when that coin stopped spreading when large farmers got in and regular miners got out that was end for that coin and many others i mined before, you can read my posts on spreadcoin thread when spread was at its highest i told them that having no pools to protect small miners and large farms with private faster miner will kill the coin when 90 % of all (regular) miners get out and they laugh at me. I dont get it that lots of miners/holders dont understand that it is better to have a low amount of succesfull coin than large amount of worthless coin cheers

From what I understand from my, ahem, discussions with overminers, none of them are prepared to make the first move in reducing hashrate on the basis that they cannot rely on the next person doing the same. I see their point, even though it is actually a self-defeating attitude and indicative of mindless greed. I can only suggest that all the overminers simply just try it because there is very little to lose out on at the moment. Here is the shame of it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7ojvrom0ymx8qn/poolstats.png

You guys saying the right words. Greed is always and everywhere. Its the same with fiat currency. So as iám working on the Proof of Mining campaign i was thinking about the max hashrate for joining the PoM. If you guys have any ideas let me know. The Proof of Mining is good for supporting the network but also for the smaller/medium miners to have a chance to receive more XMG with loyal mining! With the proof of mining campaign is it more favorable to mine Magi with a lower hashrate! Thats one of the reasons Magi is the coin for all people!!

One issue here is that using Sweet Spot targeting, my current hashrate is well below what my machines are capable of putting out, so my visible hashrate on the pool is very low atm. How might this affect the bonuses from the POM campaign? Should we have a category for Sweet Spot users?

I would not mind seeing all the big miners switching away from XMG onto XMR. How about sharing your profit figures with them and convince them that they are in the wrong place?

With hashrate that big you dont have any profit since reward is close to zero. I completaly understand their point of view - its hard for them to cut down hash power if the other big miner don't, thinking "why should I reduce if the others won't?" So we should/must find a solution that big miners (all of them) reduce their hash power for everybody's good. The 1st thing that comes to my mind is: "bigger taxes for rich, smaller for poor". Meaning inventing something so the big miners will "have" to reduce power for them sakes. @111magic you're doing great job with POM and all the other campaigns, like I already told you: keep the great work you're doing! You'll have all the support that you need from this amazing Magi community. @hefty thanks for "getting" the point, like you said you could also mine with ~5000kh/s but you don't since there's no point of that. I just hope the other big miner will do the same. I'm really skilless with pools, codes ecc...so don't know how this all works...but can we contact the pools and say to automatically add %fee above lets say 250kh/s? Bigger the hashpower-bigger fee? Is that doable? Not even sure if that's a good move, it's just a quick thought. Maybe fee will get them to reduce power so we could all benefit from. cheers guys

Is that doable? Not even sure if that's a good move, it's just a quick thought. Maybe fee will get them to reduce power so we could all benefit from. cheers guys I certainly agree that the pool operators might like to do something about it. Their pockets are hit just as hard as miner's pockets. I might suggest going further than applying additional fees and actually going so far as to say that miners will not be credited with any shares over and above a certain level. That might drive the message home. However, we have to be aware that the smaller pools might be relying on one or two big miners just to stay in the game. That is one reason why it is so important to support the smaller pools. Get off Suprnova now - nothing personal about it - their market share is way above proportion and Noncepool too. Start supporting the two pools with less market share i.e. XMGpool and Maxminers. That way they will not be relying on big miners and might be more sympathetic to share-limiting or such like while still being able to maintain a significant market share. Personally, I have a policy of switching the majority of my hashpower to the pool with the least support at any given time. I keep my eye on these things. This gives me an idea for a new piece of software ...
