Thanks for the heads up.  I'll take a look to see what we can do to reprovision our development miners back to the primary network.

I can report that formal development has begun on flipping to POS with a possible POW component.

We're currently targeting make the flip at 250M coins.

We will also make our explorer public.

Unfortunately I think the problem isn't just on my side...  Embarrassed

Bittrex has also recorded no new block for > 5700 minutes. https://bittrex.com/Status
My client did sync after waiting for a day or two but the transactions I made on Feb 2 are still not getting any confirmation on Bittrex.
The domain of explorer.givecoin.info has also expired too.

Is the coin dead? The client never sync and transaction never get confirmation.  Embarrassed

If anyone is having trouble with clients syncing, please join #catoshi-dev on irc.freenode.net. I have a new update/merge of the client that needs code review, but it downloads the blockchain and says (as of 20:01:45 UTC) it's on block 169947, with difficulty 15.801

So if you want to help testing, join the IRC.

I can also confirm that Bittrex is putting transactions on the network, what seems to be missing is enough hashpower to generate a block, or there's a switchpool abusing the KGW difficulty adjustment.

Glad to see the price up.. but dont understand it...the chain is slower than molassas...takes many days to process... wallets arent syncing due to low miner incentive...doesnt matter how you shuffle the deck chairs
5700 min per confirm is still 5700 min per confirm. we need some dam miners to stablize all this

CCN CannaCoin switched to REDD coins code base. It worked out really well. REDD is pure POSV (some form of POS).

THC HempCoin is switching code bases within the next 2 months. They're going to a POS + POW mining solution.

I see great value working from the same code base as other coins. When the code base is the same, you can reuse all of the other coins code. Many important pieces of open source software are required for advanced third party development. REDD and CCN have some really nice code going on and it would be great to get in on all of it.

I'm curious which coins code base you are most interested in using when performing a switch to a PoS or PoS+PoW mining solution. I'm sure there are some other strong collaborations with the same coin code base that would be good to get in on.

my wallet is stuck at block 171032 Sun Feb 22 20:21:21 2015  Huh

We're all there at the moment:

http://explorer.2givecoin.info/chain/GIVEcoin

THIS is the problem with the Kimoto Gravity Well (KGW) function that we're working to replace ASAP.

Pools jump in when the difficulty is low and pop blocks often seconds apart and then the difficulty ramps up quickly leaving us all hung.

doabitofgood.com has a dedicated miner online working round the clock to try and stabilize it, but it's easily over powered.

We're exploring either a 'minimum block time' function or another implementation like DigiShield (used in dogecoin)

difficulty 57  Shocked
Looks like mining pool hub is the main culprit. Perhaps someone should explain to them that their coin switcher is killing this coin... or maybe they already realize since their last 10 blocks have been hanging in the unconfirmed void for a couple of days.  Tongue
I could put some hash on it to help out, but there's not much sense if they are just going to flip the switch again and put the difficulty back through the roof.

"faith" has no role in "finances" :-)

We understand your concerns and appreciate your understanding and continued support.

We want to do this "right" not "over".

Fixing the problems we've inherited is just like changing the tires on a moving car.  Fortunately we have experience we can leverage from the CleanWaterCoin project which recently converted from POW to POS.

The good news is that we're working very closely with http://www.watchmybit.com to add in a new GIVEcoin bonus for people who watch videos on their platform.

They are already donating 1% of all revenue to the https://doabitofgood.com/bit4bit funds.

There is a lot going on in the background that we hope to announce soon.

Stay tuned!

And thanks for the link -- I'll take a look and see what it would take to add it to the block explorer page :-)

The tally.php is super fragile but I'm slowly getting it to work.  I should have a list sometime today.

In the meantime I found these guys and will just pay them to host a modern updated version which includes all the features I think we'll want

http://blockexperts.com

Will let you know when my tally is done as well was when I hear back from them.

I agree -- I'm a big proponent of "outsourcing your weaknesses" :-)

Building a B/E from scratch or trying to mod up ABE is not a competitive advantage for GIVEcoin or even Strength in Numbers Foundation at the moment or even the foreseeable future.

Thanks again for your continued interest and support!

Supply and Demand ?  LOL

Interest is growing I think because we are closing in on getting our 501.3c status for Strength in Numbers Foundation.

I think getting listed on coinmarketcap.com shows legitimacy and putting a reliable block-explorer back online also helps.

Our primary developer dahozer is a very accomplished coder having worked closely with the catcoin codebase.  We have an alpha of a staking wallet, but we need to re-spin up the testnet in order to make sure its stable.

It helps that he and I live in the same area so that we can routinely get together in person.

It also makes a big difference when your support doesn't come from some "anonymous" person or group who's motives are opaque.

I can tell you that we are working to reboot the website, add a wiki, a message board, and an issue tracker -- all linked via a single-sign-on system -- it's meant a lot of research and time in boring things like openLDAP.

We are likely going to do a two-phase update.  We need to fix/replace the broken KGW implementation, re-issue a new "alert" key so that we can signal future updates.

Once we have that done -- we're hoping to make the fork to POS happen at 250M coins -- the half way point in the original 500M design.

That's what I know today :-)

Somebody did it again! Difficulty is 100 now.
Any idea of when the gravity well will be fixed?
