Menero has really taken a big jump over the last few hours. I think people are anticipating the fork. I think it's important to take profits if your only buying for the fork. You don't want to end up like those holding Zcash and Etc bags

Hide behind a newbie account to spread your BS.

Do you think anyone is going, oo a newbie this is the good advice.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

where do you expect this bull run to top out at?

Not sure who you are asking, but I will answer for fun.

It is difficult to predict trends in any crypto other than BTC since all alts are ultimately dependent on BTC.  So there is more than one way to value XMR.  You can value it in a fiat pair, or against BTC.  Against other alts is mostly silly, although I have been enjoying iCEYs Monero/Trash ratio recently.

Currently there are several technical and fundamental factors that are influencing the price of XMR.

  • Bitcoin possibly reversing it's bearish trend
  • ALTS generally NOT participating in the BTC rally
  • The MoneroV fork/attack.

Bitcoin turning bullish is good for XMRUSD even if XMRBTC is dropping.  But I have been seeing for quite some time that XMR does not act in concert with the greater field of altcoins as much as most others.  Now we are seeing a hyper version of that with BTC and XMR rallying while all other (significant) alts are red.  Hooray for us. I believe  we may be seeing the first pre-tremors of the absolutely needed alt-coin (and HIDEOUS ico) shakeout.  This may not be the big one, but it is at least the sort of thing I think we should expect to see.  I hope to see BCASH cut in at least half over the next several months, along with all other copypasta and scamcoins.  Projects that provide actual value, on the other hand we can expect to see drop less, hold or even rise.

In my opinion Monero is one of the top 2 or three projects in the usefulness/utility category.  Few other projects come close.

Finally there is the MoneroV attack.  I am glad we are having it.  It has exposed an attack vector in Monero.  Our history is speckled with attacks and responses from our devs to mitigate these vectors.  In some cases the devs and researches have nailed shut an attack vector before it could be taken advantage of.

This is how we grow.  This is how antifragility works.  But there are some obvious truths we must unerstand about the MoneroV fork.

First of all there is absolutely NO way it will be a non-event.  Game theoretically there is zero chance all people will choose NOT to "cash in".  This includes exchanges.  It is inevitable, if the project actually launches, that some exchanges will support it, and many many will sell these coins.

I guarantee you even some of the most prominent members of our community now saying "Just don't participate in the fork and all will be well" are going to participate by selling their forkcoins.  Human nature. Nash equilibrium and all that.

But in the end this will also provide some fuel for XMR to rise when it has needed to for quite some time.

My GUESS?

I think we see upwards of .04-.05 over the next couple weeks with us falling back to current levels as a new support floor later this month.  That said, XMR has a history of doing these multi part 3x-5x rises over fairly short periods of time.  I would not write that off either.  But overall, in spite of the coming shenanigans, I am fairly bullish.

But I have no effing idea. Wink

Against other alts is mostly silly

Since I'm bullish on $ONION I like to compare it with $XMR and what I am seeing is a bright future for DeepOnion since it is a much younger project than Monero and in this short time its devs added several great features. I can hardly wait for the release of the DeepOnion Mobile wallet in the next few days and the addition of the Stealth Addresses. Monero did start much before but in DeepOnion I see a big future competitor for XMR (from the privacy coin "class")... Only people that can't support shills of their altcoins with facts engage in trash talk..

Thank you for your thoughts.  Please take them to a relevant thread.

How high will this go xmr/btc ?

Excluding Bithumb ATH was half year ago at 0.035. So if it breaks that can go really high. Monero March Madness will be here.

Interesting times.  Obvious question is how much of this is being driven by the hot air of the fork.  Then again Monero is a chronically undervalued crypto.

Looks like we may have topped out for a bit. Highest I saw on this run was 0.0305. Not too shabby. Still a chance we push higher

0.03288 at Poloniex.  That is a new high since the August ATH.   I'm somewhat surprised to see it hold above .03 still.  I thought we'd be a few weeks yet for that.

I really believe Monero will reach 2000 dollar some day but when day? maybe 2019 is my target. when eventually XMR is truly useful, XMR will release itself from its BTC ratio.

$355,45 USD (3,29%)
0,03119170 BTC (0,14%)

Menero is the missing link to the puzzle of replacing all characteristics of cash. I think monero together with bitcoin is enough to compete in a world full of state issued cryptocurrencys

I expect a big rise in all alternative projects. Of course not an investment advice. But I feel like we are going through a good period of uptick for robust projects. Monero may be one of the projects that will make good progress on this rise.

Monero is dead as we know it but Monero will go over that price range and make it support instead of a resistance area. Truth and privacy.  Cool

You would be hard pressed to find someone in this thread who doesn't know. But it's very nice of you to think about us Smiley

Self-moderated thread for discussion of Monero trading and price speculation.

Off topic posts will be removed. Off topic includes any extensive discussion of other coins, promoting other coins, or posting of promotional materials from other coins.

Non-substantive comments such as Monero sucks, Monero is a scam, Monero is great, Monero to the moon, etc. are considered off topic. Every post and reply should add to the discussion. The preceding sentence forbids repetitive exchanges on the same topic without some topical context.

Hostile trolling (which includes but is not limited to use of "meme" pictures to attack or demean) especially by sock puppet accounts is not allowed.

When quoting posts, please remove any large charts or other images unless the quoted post is at least one page old. Please shrink (or remove) large images in replies in all cases.

When I am speaking as the moderator, and only then, I will write in red. Other messages using red text are not permitted.

People speculating on Monero may also be interested in the MoneroMarkets subreddit (unaffiliated)

Monero is one do the first coins based upon the idea of complete privacy and security. The transactions of monero are secure and untraceable. Even the amount sent in the transaction is also secure and hidden. It is considered as master of all privacy coins by many and i see alot of potential in monero. It is surely a coin worth investing and you can expect it's price to hit 1000$ mark by end of this year for user sure.

So people behind MoneroV has claimed that MyMonero will support MoneroV. Which is a lie. And they even have recommended to use Monero keys to access MoneroV. Do not do it!

That is very alarming. Read more here. https://medium.com/@tweetingpauls/beware-of-non-native-forks-of-monero-6f5a0bf1fccf

If you have allready not.

So even Monero team is very unwilling to make any marketing or advertising actions, it now has duty to give a very loud and public warning all around on youtube redit and cryptosphere about the suspicious activity of the MoneroV and the the people behind it.

Nobody on the Monero community do not want anyone to lose any Monero because of this scam.
