Hey guys seeing as how there is so many different forks of Monero (Monero Original, Monero Classic, MoneroCash, MoneroV)

Is it actually possible to claim all of these coins, or am I only able to claim one on the old chain.

I have read the risks/concerns in regards to privacy etc.

Does anyone know how we are able to claim them?
You can claim only upcoming forks. For example there gonna be Monero V hard fork very soon. So don't hesitate to get it. If you haven't done it ever before better use some tutorial, for example this one :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7RXCMAwH_E

Yes yes, nice try moronic scammer www.monero-v.com (When official site is monerov.org)

Just asking question, are Monero Original and Monero Classic on the same chain meaning you can only claim one ?

Yes is same coin just named differently on different exchanges.   This basically shows you the nature of true cryptocurrencies. They dont belong to noone. Two different groups can name it differently.

Hopefully the weekend brings a $300 price tag on Monero; and even though we don't like it, the MoneroV fork may well push this all the way back to $350 again at the end of the month.

MoneroV will do nothing.  But weekend just started so we will see really soon.

Nor sure what is causing this dip after the nice overdue runup but I tried to grab some at .0275 and by the time I got confirmed it had jumped over .028 Dammit. Well Maybe BTC will rally while I'm waiting again. Cheesy

I just lose too much time watching shit like this.

It's on their main exchange page in the Notices section. Unmissable if you visit.

Glad they aren't supporting it, but the notice will actually promote the fork, of course.

The price movement indicates there isn't so much interest, perhaps there will be few places to actually sell it.

I received the email from polo stating they will be:

Quote
Starting at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 29, 2018 (9:00 p.m. UTC), we’ll temporarily disable Monero transactions. You won’t be able to send Monero, and if you receive Monero, it will be credited to your account after we re-enable the wallet. We’ll do this once the network has stabilized, which is expected to happen within a few days.

We do not plan to support XMV at this time, but you can choose to move your XMR to an exchange or wallet that supports Monero forks. We’ll make sure you know if there are any other changes as things progress. Stay tuned for more information on how we plan to approach listings, forks, swaps, and airdrops on Poloniex going forward. If you have any questions, you can reach our customer experience team here.

I'm not sure why as this is a snapshot and not a fork correct? So why it could effect the network is lost on me. It looks to me like the new "Circle" crew over there are not sure what a snapshot is.

This made me laugh, everyone should definitely do this!

I'm going to give this link to anyone coming here asking how to get this shit. Cheesy

I'm guessing the Monero crash is a result of the impending MoneroV fork. It's another "sell the news" event. As usual, it will undershoot the market price, and provide a good buying opportunity.

I think monero will have a better run this year than last year and i hope my investment on it will be worthy for my money. I believe in monero because of its usage and popularity and i speculate that it will reach 500$ this year.

I would like to hear thoughts about Monero and Masari (MSR). Note that this could affect Monero's price in the very long run, so it is not out of topic, unless this thread is confined to short-term speculations. Masari seems to be the only legit other cryptonote coin. Can this newly born, in the future, eat some of the Monero's cake? On one hand, certainly liquidity seems, in the long time horizon, to converge to a monopoly. Hence the argument against the possibility of survival and existence of other coins, assuming same underlying technology. But Monero could face scaling issues, and if that happens, solutions will be sought. One such solution might be for Monero to become 'Gold reserves', and another more scalable cryptonote coin the actual cash, to be used for daily transactions. Certainly some new technology will have to bridge the two coins to make the process of swapping them frictionless. That would have Masari eat some of the Monero's meal. Thoughts, inputs?

Well I am no technician, but that pattern on the chart tends to signal a downward move.

Masari seems to be the only legit other cryptonote coin.

You're bordering on blatant promotion here. Come on.

MSR is ranked roughly #600 on coinmarketcap. It could have a great future and if so might become worthwhile to discuss as a direct competitive threat to Monero some day. but until then I have a hard time believing there aren't a good share of 600 others that are more relevant to this thread.

There is lots of Monero Forks or other cryptonote coins. And many many more to come. Each have some problems and worries.  Calling one of them this or that is a bit silly specially if is only few months old.

It could happen that transparent ledger coins could get totally abandoned. At that point all of these coins would flourish. If that will not happen then will be the same as right now.
