Damn that bid side filled in fast, my buy order was top last night, now its buried Hey guys long time lurker here Following the news form a few posts up, i finally decided to install a wallet But there was a bit of 'bad luck' here. when i installed it, ran the opal-Qt.exe, i got an error message basically saying 'we don't know what is wrong, contact the devs'. But.. after looking around for a while on this forum i tried it again, basically to copy the error message to post here. and then.. it started without problem and its happily downloading the blockchain now Now for me the problem is solved... but many other people will think it does not work and go do some other thing. So i still post it here as a bug. So just if anyone has same problem, just start it again. i use win 7 home edition 64 bit. The only 'weird' thing is, i did not install it on C:\ edit: the error message was (i think) from windows, not from opal Thanks for the input Erik, there have been some errors with the wallet which have been discussed and are being worked on by the team. There is also an error popup when closing the wallet, but that will be fixed soon.

the writing is probably in progress. we just got a small preview of what will come. you won't need a password when the article is finished. btw. great idea to help the coin stabilize. i think real growth and prive movement is just coming with a bigger userbase but till this dividend program there wasn't a reason to stake for most users. i'm staking all my coins anyway, hope you all do the same opal has such a great base of developments. it just will take some time. people are so brainwashed with all these pnd. coins getting released, abused and killed in less than 2 weeks. waiting for a month is like a lifetime in crypto would also like to know if opaltkn is affected by this in any kind Oh, ok, thank you ! Hello Nemanja, Here is the article: Opal Announces Revolutionary Dividends ProgramLos Angeles, California – April 10, 2015 – Whit Jack In addition to its unique set of features, Opal announced today a revolutionary system of dividends simply for holding the coin. Opal today announced a system of revenue generating sites, the first one being bitsofnews.net, that will have all revenue generated go back to Opal users through dividend payments. This serves as both an incentive for users to hold Opal, as well as holding them in their local wallets and cold storage. Opal believes that this will help create incentives for users to try out the coin, and will also encour- age long term holding, because in addition to staking interest, there will be a steady flow of revenue generating sites. Opal is structured on a no premine, no ICO, no IPO basis, all funding and expenses are covered by the development team. It is because of this approach the team believes they can take Opal to the pinnacle of innovation. They firmly believe in customer and investor feedback and welcome this to further cement Opal’s position in real world adoption.

I agree, I think any posting helps bring attention and keeps us active,
Exactly. So that includes my hard criticisms, and the explanations that disqualify any issues I raise. Controversy keeps the thread alive, and more postings, which means better recognition on Bitcointalk. So indirectly, I'm helping. A healthy debate on where Opal is going, just leads to more posts, more recognition, and more new people catching the wave. Based on what I said, I think I should keep posting my thoughts because I'm actually helping here. Opal today announced a system of revenue generating sites, the first one being bitsofnews.net, that will have all revenue generated go back to Opal users through dividend payments. This serves as both an incentive for users to hold Opal, as well as holding them in their local wallets and cold storage.
How is this better than holding and staking the normal way? I went to bitsofnews.net and it is a complicated site. I wasn't sure as an Opal holder how I could earn more Opals via that site?

How is this better than holding and staking the normal way? I went to bitsofnews.net and it is a complicated site. I wasn't sure as an Opal holder how I could earn more Opals via that site? I think a good explanation of the technicality's of how this works will come soon. I think it will add more insentive to stake, as you receive extra income besides that from staking, but I would like to know more as well! Such as how exactly revenue is generated? Advertisements would be one way, views, taking payments for publishing articles. If advertisements are one way, then clicking them and giving them views would help generate revenue and thus greater dividends. Another way would simply be spreading the word for the sites themselves, as the larger/higher profile they become (by views) the more revenue I'd can amuse we as opal holders would get. I'd also be interested to know how often coin wallet snapshots are taken, randomly, daily, weekly? Randomly would keep people on there toes and provide more incentive to keep coins staking so they don't miss out. Daily would be fine as well, but perhaps if it was a fixed longer term interval people would catch on and move coins to wallet on those interval times. It looks like there will be more sites to come http://bitsofnews.net/opal-announces-second-revenue-stream-for-dividends/ (still pass protected), which is fantastic. The idea is great, and looks to have great potential. Look forward to hearing more.

What do you need in order to receive the dividends? Download the latest wallet, start staking or what?
