Hi, very interesting idea to use mining power for useful computations. My only worry is are these computations useful? I mean you tell us we are "helping" to cure cancer. Is there any evidence of that? can we see the output of our calculations or something?
thanks

Absolutely, I have been asked this many times. First off the pure data is provided by Stanford upon request by any certified medical researcher as FAH is a non profit. But Stanford itself also writes medical papers on the results which can be found here http://folding.stanford.edu/home/papersNow many people say "I cant read those papers, so how do i know they are legit?" and here is my response to that: You trust a plumber to do the right thing in the correct manner when he comes to your house. You cant possibly know if he is doing the right thing as plumbing would not be a profession of yours. The way you can find out if he is doing the right work would possible be through word of mouth and other customer reviews. The papers that are in that link I am not going to lie to you, are way over my head. I do not fully understand what is being done, I just know the 101 version like many of you. We have talked with some other bio chemists about the work and they think its great and they approve. But unless you understand the papers in the link, it would be unfair to say that FAH isnt doing anything.... Think of them as your plumber And like the plumber, we would need to use a source comparable to "Angies list" for other people to tell us about how they do, not what they do precisely. Here https://folding.stanford.edu/home/awards/ is a list of awards that they have on their website that they have achieved from respectable organizations but the one I can recognize is found here http://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2014/11/24/nvidia-foundation-awards-400000-to-two-teams-pioneering-cancer-research/ its an award from Nvidia. Now Nvidia is up my alley, they trust that FAH is doing good work so therefor I trust their judgement. Communities relay on other peoples professions and the trust that we must put into them. As a data specialists I once told a customer not to run a data line on his own at 400 feet as signal will be dropped and data can only go 300 feet on cat 5e. I told him he needs a repeater or fiber. He didn't listen, he thought it was just like cat 3 (he was an old school pre-cat 5 phone guy) and it could go 1000 feet. Sure enough I was out there 3 weeks later installing an second cabinet for networking equipment. Moral of the story, its good to do due diligent on things you are looking to support, but trust the good sources and take their word for it.

I only trust my plumber after he has completed the job and the plumbing works. I guess I will just have to believe I am helping to cure cancer if I decide to mine.. but maybe the approach is wrong and will never work. Anyway it is much better than all the other coins calculating useless algorithms. These algorithms might be useful one day.

True, cancer inst cured yet, but it require a lot more to cure cancer than your toilet If you skim through those papers, even without a medical understanding, they are very well written and have a clear message on what the folding has done. Though cancer istn cured, this research and these papers help to get us there. Here's a good quote that is relevant: "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas Edison

I have a feeling these algorithms actually help create more drugs to battle cancer. This approach may never work is all I'm saying but if it does, that would be so epic.

Will the old address system still work after 5/2? And will it keep paying out in FLDC or will I be getting a mix of tokens?

Excited to see the upcoming stats page
We are very excited to. This will allow us to merge multiple wallets and donor names that people have used in the past. So that way if someone wants to change to the _ALL_ command, they can do so with keeping their user name and stats together. This will obviously only be on our page, but thats still better than having then seperated like hey are in the stanford stats

They have an issue with counterparty implementation, so it is not really something Foldingcoin can directly help with. I will ask the exchange to make a statement here about the progress and security of coins.

Hi, I'm Adrien, I'm the co-founder of Masterxchange.com. As some of you know, we are still stuck on XCP withdrawals because of some issues with their newest software version. Sadly the situation has been almost the same for a month: we install their software, it crashes at some point, the devs help us "fix" it, the fix doesn't work, rince and repeat. At this point we have a "working" version of XCP installed but the computer (which is more than decent) is slow as hell when it runs and a simple payment attempt hangs forever. We are trying to hack around using a script issued by the dev team but at this point we're not confident at all in anything they provide. We are still holding the private key that controls https://www.blockscan.com/address/1XCPvihttZTyc1uJf3tx4ht9RLsajwxhH As you can see we were able to issue a single payment 2 days ago but the software is hanging whenever we want to issue another one. We know this situation sucks, we have already lost a whole month on the issue and it is still not resolved. It is a huge hit for us in terms of confidence from our users and in terms of development and morale. We never earned anything substantial with XCP or XCP assets and we've already waste enough time to develop a couple of cool features because of it. TLDR: XCP is a messy pile of shit, we do have the coins but we are still unable to send them, we are working exclusively on resolving this and we are sorry for everybody that have coins stuck.

I really like what you guys are doing! This coin has a clear purpose, is not hyped or pumped and has dedicated developers. It is hard to mess with counterwallet coins, so safe from whales (for now). I will connect on Skype to see if I can help out a bit.
That would be fantastic! Im around all day now so let me know whever you want to connect The forums front page has now been updated Good job! Added you on Skype I see that, let me know when you want to chat today Also thank you to 1PcQnfrwZtcUpcp5B1zgPVdF2WAPq3SarL for the 1 BTC donation to the fundraiser You are very welcome I see that you are using it for distribution transactions fees and updated http://foldingcoin.net/fundraising/very good

Announcing SCOTCOIN today http://scotcoin.org/ as our newest member to the Merged Folding platform @Superxfast @JonesD @ElDido I hope the issue gets resolved soon to. It is a bad situation but these things happen sadly. MasterXchange was originally meant for Mastercoins and from what I hear Counterpartyd can be a headache, but it is do-able @ElDido I am sure you and your team will figure it out. You say you have been in contact with the Counterparty developers? Because maybe I can help get involved if you would want, but i do not want to impose

Here is the announcement post for SCOTCOIN http://foldingcoin.net/2015/01/announcing-scotcoin/Also I just looked at the transactions and they seem fine now. Sometimes they do hang up on the distribution server as we do them in Batches of 25-40 transactions at a time. But it usually resolves itself when this happens.

That 1 BTC alone will keep us distributing for at least the next 6 months (unless we double, then about 3 months) It was a huge and and we are very grateful, as all last year we had been using our own money.
