Any idea whats up with the pool the past few days.  It seems like the pool needs to be reset every several days or the ability to catch blocks is non existence.  And my miners that are normally extremely stable have been dropping hash rate and almost going to 0.0...   Seems like something is up, even the p2p pools are catching blocks, and we have not in almost 3 and a half to 4 days

Just was wondering if there was a issue

I noticed a restart today a few hours ago.  I've also notice my miner hash steadily declines over the past about a week, but didn't know if that was pool related or not.

This is doable, I'll add it to my list Smiley
Perhaps I'll keep the exclamation mark for rate warnings, but change the block found icon to the bitcoin symbol.

Cool, that would be a better idea even.

Yes, and the name needs to be Kano ckpool...  Cool

Been a few ckpool restarts due to the problem I mentioned earlier, but it's still happening.
It doesn't lose blocks. The block luck is simply that - luck.
We don't count up to finding a block, we simply find a block randomly every so often, but expect to average finding a block (or orphan) every 100% Diff.

The affect of an outage is that for the seconds/minutes that the pool is acting up, that means less hashes trying to find a block.
The current block luck, is just that, bad luck finding it, as represented by the Diff% being high.

If you look at the stats up to the last block, they are still very good for 5 blocks, 25 blocks and 50 blocks, but bad for 10 blocks, even though there are a few high Diff % blocks there. 6 over 200% and 2 of those almost 400%
There's nothing unexpected in those numbers - if you look at the CDF[Erl] that gives an idea of how often those numbers are expected to be worse than they are.
So for the bad 10 block number, 16% of the time you expect it to be worse than that, 84% better than that.

The main issue with those numbers, I've mentioned before, is that even 50 blocks is not much of a sample to be able to infer any problems unless the CDF[Erl] was very close to 1.0000

Expected Block finding time is, of course, related to the pool hash rate. So since the rate has dropped quite a bit recently, the expected tim to find a block has increased also. So a 200% block at 2PHs takes twice as long as a 200% block at 4PHs, but since you are a larger % of the pool due to the pool having a lower hash rate, then you will get a larger % of the rewards.

It not the not found block issue it is the miner disconnects from the pool in the past few days there have been large drops where the moners slowed to 25% of there capabilities,  I have seen this several times then they drop completely,  I suspect a pool issue and they come back to normal and then i see there was a server reset.

I am very happy with CK pool and am grateful for all your support here.  So no I am not complaining at all.

Just wanted to make sure you know whats going on and to see if there is a issue that might need to be addressed.

Been a few ckpool restarts due to the problem I mentioned earlier, but it's still happening.

There's a bug there that's been around for a few months now and rears its ugly head every so often - lately more so than usual. It's likely in my ckpool code but I'm still unsure of what it is, and it seems to affect only kano's pool, not solo ckpool though they're different workloads, hardware, database etc etc so there are multiple confounding variables. We're continually investigating and kano goes to great lengths to spot when it happens and restart the pool as soon as possible which seems to correct it.

Wasn't taken as a complaint - but I thought I better explain the block finding, block luck thing again in case that was a concern Smiley

If your miner loses hash rate for a while after a short outage, taking some time to get back to normal, then that is a problem.
Do you have a backup pool? cgminer should switch over to the backup pool if a disconnect happens and wait a few minute of getting proper work from kano.is before it will switch back again.
(and it is always advisable to have a backup pool no matter where you mine)
That of course will show up as a drop in hash rate here at kano.is, but of course will be offset by the hashing at the backup pool.

The restarts are usually quite quick, never more than a few minutes outage.
I would make them shorter, except that when it happens, I leave it for a few minutes to see if it recovers or to get more information about the cause.
I've added more stats logging and other network logging also to try and see if we can find out where the problem is.

CK Thanks for the info.  You and Knao are doing a great job and every user of this pool owes you a boat load of gratitude.

I just wanted to make sure you get good info and that you know what is going on.

I have been in the IT world for almost 30 years now and I to chase ghost all day.  Just part of the job.

Thanks for every thing you do and all the programming that you have done.

There's a lot of us that use nicehash when their price is high, and it has been for days now.  Once it goes back to normal my 18T/h will be back here and so will a lot of others, but for now earning 30% over normal is worth.

Yup. Same here. I keep a few miners pointed here, but the 30-70%%+ earnings automatically turned 12TH to westhash and rentals for now.  Cheesy

Sorry about the delay for all the planned features for the app. I've been swamped with other responsibilities. Sad

I got to false block found responses tonight. Not sure what that would be about.

Probably when I restarted ckdb twice.
During the initial start the response is pretty empty.
After a short while, it returns block info again.

It looks like the WestHash rental rush is starting to back off.  4.5TH of my miners have switched back here again with the last 1.5TH still switching back and forth.  At the moment they are still running at higher voltages from taking advantage of the WestHash rush.  I think I'll leave them set that way for a few more hours to help knock out this block (and just in case WestHash picks back up again).

Not sure if reboot was planned, but my miners jumped to backup pools.  They are back here now.

Yup. Few time over the past few days. Wish I could turn off the same buzzer on antminers.
