Crazy to think there is 8-9 million worth of gear mining SIGT of all coins.  The great altcoin crash of 20xx (insert date poloniex is kill) will be epic.  Hopefully people put those GPUs on folding or something worthwhile to society after.

PPL SMART MINERS have been mining with a profit on gpu's since 2010.

2017 7 years and counting...

I just made a little correction ;-)

What do you think how much more time Signatum can be mined in days?

The blocktime is around 2minutes.

So around 720 blocks per day. 130 days of mining total?
The coin was launched 12 days ago.

And once SIGT leaves POW, it's the end for mining coins with this algo ?
I mean, SIGT is the only one on raptor algo ?
It's the first one, but there will be more, considering it's GPU only and low on power consumption compared to some other algorithms.

there are two possible reasons why an algo is "low on power consumption":

- it is not optimised enough
- it is memory heavy (with random access)

none of the two can be said about skunkraptor.
it is just another algo, like tons out there.
every now and then a new coin comes out with a mix of the same old base algos, just to instamine it a bit.

how do you keep your 1080ti @50c while hashing with 54mh?

i have 30-40c ambient
and my card are around 80c
seahawks even 60c and up
By lowering the voltage and frequency with the curve in Afterburner. Most Ti can go to 950mV at 1911 MHz w/o troubles, some might work with lower voltage. If you want 18xx MHz, you can go as low as 900-ish mV on some cards. Keep in ming rig restarts can screw you, so pay attention how speed changes between restarts and when starting a miner. And this is for FE, custom cards can stay very cold.

skunks is not really hard on consumption, I think the skein part of it needs more power, but the rest obviously doesn't need that much and the card power will jump up and down a lot.

i figured it had to do something with the voltage.
not sure if i should lower the voltage.
i want these cards to hash for at least a couple more years and then sell them.
80c is not too bad and if i cannot increase the hashrate and only drop power consumtion and heat,
it maybe not worth to take the risk of damaging the card with not enough voltage.
i guess i wait for the warranty to die first or at least untill the cards roi'd.
with Hush i was around 50 (seahawks) 70 (1060+1070) degrees.
can i drop 10 degrees just by lowering the voltage?
i hope sp_mod #4 will be out soon so i can powerlimit the cards again without any loss of hashrate

But most people seem to have power problems, so they run their cards on "nice" settings. 60% tdp. If I mod the kernel to use alot of power they will perform worse with 60% tdp..
That's why I think I will do a powersaver kernel in #4

Pallas, I'm not familiar with the algorithm, but there is a part of it that is more mem-heavy, considering it shows some 6-7% mem usage. Take blake2s or plain skein - they don't even show 1%, and are completely memory speed independent, and very heavy on the core.
Skunk so far shows small fast changes in power consumption leading to overall lower consumption compared to pure skein, for example. It's obvious by cards temps too.
People that have problems don't use locks on the voltage/frequency curve and rely on the PL...

Lowering the voltage and the temps would go a long way to prolong card's lifespan. There is no harm in undervolting. Just search google for 1080 curve lock undervolt afterburner

You cannot compare equihash power requirements to other algos, so mining HUSH, ZEC, ZEN, ZCL, KM will always require less power than some other algos, even SIGT.

that's because skunk is chained: there is a little memory usage to keep the hashes from a kernel call to the other. But no ram usage by the kernels themselves. Just like x11, for example.

hehehehe for sure, I just recently sold my 5870s who were still pulling a profit, but needed the electricity.  Im biased, I want to buy cheap GPU`s

This is simple math. I will only send out the miner to the ppl who have donated 0.05btc. The fee will be small, and the speed increase will be big.
If #4 is +10%. I take 2% and you get +8%.
If you don't want to mine with the fee, you can revert to #3
Omg...please, not include fee into your miner, this is fully bullshit. May be increase miner price to 0.1 btc? Seriously, devfu...ingfee is worstest variant, that you can made.
