Any place where I can by 1 or 2 of these units intead of MOQ 20 as per BitMain's website?

I still have not seen an answer as to what happened to the five pack of these.

I would be interested in a 5 pack to play around with...

You could set up a regional group buy for packs of 5 if you're not interested in buying from resellers.

Wow, is that a non-answer? Sure was! We are all over the world. We cannot set up "regional" groups to buy 20. Come on. Answer the question. Why did Bitmain remove the five pack from the website? Simple question. Simple answer please. Not a Dogie non-answer, kind of rude special non-answer.

After about half an hour, hashrate is declining to 50

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fvj0yau25jk7l3g/Screenshot%202015-02-03%2012.36.59.png?dl=0

Have a look...

Seems not helping in improving hashrate ?

Any tipps or hints ?

Please set the miner voltage to 0830, frequency to 0982 to try. Notice: please pop up and pop in the USB cable, make sure you restart the miner before change the settings. And suggest that point the U3 to the pools like Antpool, f2pool or ghash and so on.

yes, you are right.

I tried out now 835mV and 250Mhz, running without errors, stable at ~62.5

I do not know how long, running in this configuration since yesterday 3:24pm. I do not notice thermal problems, air from the fan is not hot, even not warm and the psu is just warm.

Let's wait and see.

Other question:

Somebody remarked that in this thread are recommendations ot Atx-type psu to replace the U3 one.
Can somebody repeat that ?

Couldn't just find it on the 30 pages ))))))

Because the U3s requirements are essentially nothing, you'll want to look at a power supply you may have a use for in the future (other miners), as an investment. It would be wasteful to get something small and tiny for the U3 and later find out you can't do anything with it. The most recommended single PSU for mining is the Corsair CX750M.

I think its worth paying a little more and getting a used RM850.

It'd be a hell of a lot more, surely?

Hi!

I have received my U3 yesterday.

Unfortunatly the U3 will not work.

1. Plug in Power
2. Plug in USB
3. Device is recognized and installs CP2102 Driver

Starting cgminer --benchmark ( Ver. 0.4.9.1 ) No Device found
Starting cgminer --benchmark ( Ver. 0.4.6.1 from bitmain HP) No Device found

Replacing U3 with a R-Box or New RBox and there are no problems, cgminer is hashing

Is my Bitmain U3 DOA?

Use Zadig to replace the driver with WinUSB driver. Don't expect much reliability from the U3, but you should at least be able to get it to work for a little while.

Quick status around our "clean it up" testing etc.

Been running the two (out of 3) semi working u3s for a while. Both cleaned up neatly, applied non conductive paste, Noctua NT-H1. One of them has a new psu, Chieftec AC Power Adapter CDP-090ITX 90W.

Unable to have any consistent data on the psu effect on performance here.
Units are very much ureliable, needs to be reset at least once a day. Clean up doesnt seem to have affected reliability.
Getting better performance with cgminer from bitmain, but the latest version with changed parameters compared to the last 2014 version seems to be slower. Hopefully more stable...
Both units running open, no cover, and with extra cooling surfaces attached to the heatsink.

Cheesy the rice cooker version. Rough metal with holes.

Thanks, testing one at a time alone now, believe it's one of them causing the most issues, so might send that back.

But just to be clear, i love the concept of these little units you guys made, how very well they fit with the need of a hobbyist miner. Silent, small and wife friendly:)
High hopes of the next generation of them, hoping we can get some experience shared here from someone testing the new ones.
