re: yobit chain meaning that they are now essentially different chains on their own. I get that. But getting reconnected is possible. Just find their node, and get a copy of the yobit chain. This at least allows trade of this FORK. re: the TRUE chain One has to be chosen and the decision has to be firm. I am firm in decision that the chain that is in sync with the well known chainz block explorer is the TRUE chain.

re: swap They just pop in the wallet.dat from the old chain and right then from the first block on the new chain their coins will be available to them. This kind of simplicity also ensures exchanges do not complain or resist swaps as they have to do very little work to get on the new chain. If you are suggesting " just pop in the wallet.dat from the old chain" solution to a HF, then I agree it is good. When I see "swap" I read the need for old coins to be physically swapped for new chain coins. This method has near 100% failure rate, and is a bad idea. The method of wallet.dat to transfer from old to new is ? I am not sure of the term to call it ? hardfork ? But yes I have seen that method work well before and it is fair.

What you are saying is that you prefer the yobit chain. Previous posters seem to prefer nova hence the need for consensus. There is no "true" chain, they are both out there. The community just needs to pick one. I myself hold no coins so i do not have a preference, my leaning towards the nova chain is because i have been told that communication with yobit support is non-existent. So if Nova is the exchange that works with the community, they'd be the obvious choice. There are three people currently in the conversation, let's hear what other members of the community have to say and it would be awesome if some of them were long time members, that way we can have a larger group come to a decision.

This is a complete swap, ie we map the balances at snapshot into block 1 of the new chain. The swaps where people have to send coins etc are cumbersome and leave a lot of people in the dark as not everyone checks the forums every week. A hard fork is usually used to resolve critical issues in a blockchain , mostly consensus issues or adding new features. Our scenario is to swap out completely and start a new chain. this will prevent users getting in the wrong chain again.

But yobit_fork is moreless no longer TALK already. IMO

They themselves need to restart their node with an empty data folder while connected to the rest in order to join the rest... if they had not accepted or sent any coins then they would have no problem. But if they did allow deposits and withdrawals that may be somewhat difficult for them to reconcile balances. I think that is three votes for nova. Would others care to weigh in ?

My suggestion is to get the Yobit chain reconnected (the fork) via finding whatever node they are on.
Then there are 2 TALK chains. There is no "true" chain, they are both out there. The community just needs to pick one. Re: yobit
reconnecting is possible. but it would be a fork, like bcash to BTC.
By "reconnecting" I mean just finding the ip node that is yobit. And possibly providing a bootstrap to the yobit_fork. I'm still insisting on keeping just one "true" chain which is the longest chain with Nova and Chainz explorer on it. No need to create any of those TALK cash or TALK SV or whatever forks Besides there is always a possibility that yobit puts the wallet in maintenance and keeps it like that forever. Although I heard that they were planning to do some big maintenance works for lots of wallets this week so there is a chance they will finally do something about TALK wallet too. I also provided them with a blockchain snapshot and active nodes not too long ago. So lets see what happens. If nothing then IMHO we should move on with the swap as suggested by Blockchain Mechanic.

I will be AWOL for the next 2 weeks. Look forward to your plans.
Final thoughts:
TALK is the brand, and the value is that it is a surviving pos chain that is 5 years old. The code can be updated but any fundamental changes to the coin specs or name would likely be fatal.
If plans are for a rebrand, then fork it off into its own project, change the coin specs as you please.

HI all
1) Old wallet does not compile in ubuntu 18.04.So i had to swith to 16.04 version.
2) initial sync from scratch failed , am trying a fresh one again. This is crucial as I need a prestine copy of the chain synced with -txindex.
Will keep you updated.

re: poloneix held tALK Delisting announcement On Friday, May 17th, at 16:00 UTC, markets for the following assets will be disabled on Poloniex: SYS, SBD, HUC, XCP, NMC, PPC, and BURST. Please finalize all trades and close any positions in these assets prior to May 17th. In addition, we have temporarily re-enabled withdrawals for the following delisted assets: MINT, MYR, GRS, QTL, and RDD. The withdrawal deadline for these assets is as follows:
SYS: June 3rd at 16:00 UTC MINT, MYR, GRS, QTL, and RDD: June 10th at 16:00 UTC SBD, HUC, XCP, NMC, PPC, and BURST: if they are allowing withdraws of long delisted MINT, MYR, GRS, QTL then if TALK becomes popular again they likely will open a TALK withdraw if petitioned. Except since TALK was delisted almost 5 years ago, they may have deleted the wallet.dat? And most accounts with TALK might be abandoned long ago.

I'm afraid that's the case. Even if they still have wallet.dat file they won't re-enable withdrawals, maybe unless there is huge community demand. But TALK's community is now to scarce right now. P.S. Blockchain Mechanic, any news?
