I have some news...

Antminer R4 issues...  I've been trying to keep it running the last few weeks, but it was clear one of the boards was on it's last leg.  I noticed today that the power cables had been burned and the connectors on both boards are pretty much destroyed.  It looks to be the result of some sort of failure on the bad board.  While I could get the connectors replaced, it would likely result in the same thing occurring again.  The R4 is also not capable of running using the supplied firmware with only 1 board.  That leaves me with few options, which is a bit disappointing.  The good thing is that this machine mined for a long time and has been less effective as of late, so it isn't a massive loss.  Any loss stings though, so this sucks.  On the plus side, my house didn't burn down and I'm sure I'll be able to replace the damaged PSU cables.

Siacoin update...  I had sent the mined SC to HitBTC a while back and they have had some internal issues for the last 6+ months that hadn't allowed me to sell this SC.  The end result is that we paid 0.1287 BTC for a Siacoin miner, sold it for 0.036 BTC, and mined 0.13217798 BTC when it was sold (would have been 3x more if HitBTC hadn't screwed us) resulting in a gain of 0.03947798 BTC for NastyMining.  Better than a stick in the eye.  Smiley

Antminer S9 ASICBOOST...  Bitmain's ASICBOOST implementation firmware has been loaded onto our S9 to save some energy.  Thanks to braiins for forcing Bitmain's hand on this issue!

Monsoon Season...  The Wind Turbine took a beating this summer as the weather was a bit extreme.  It is still functioning, but could use a little TLC.  I am debating just how much money is reasonable to spend on upkeep for the turbine, but I do like the project and think it is beneficial to continue.

Outside of all that, everything is pretty typical.  The NastyShop continues selling goods and NastyMining continues mining to raise funds for NastyFans.  At last check NastyMining had around $112,000 saved using the current exchange rate.  No current plans to deploy this capital, but I would like to get some more miners going when prices have adjusted for the next generation of hardware.

sickening abdications of responsiblity

If you have any useful input, I’m happy to take it into consideration. That is why I post this information. Do people want me spending thousands of dollars keeping the wind turbine looking pretty, or is functionality all that is important? Do we want to blow our BTC repairing an old problematic R4, or put it out to pasture? Did we want to continue in the future with handling altcoin mining like we did with the A3, or was that gain not worth the effort involved?

With no useful feedback, and blanket criticisms from accounts red with distrust, I can only assume that I’m doing a perfect job in my actions. If you had any actual legitimate feedback instead of your usual OgNasty is evil nonsense that everyone in this thread knows is BS, or if you think you can do a better job, I’d love to hear/see it.

Thanks for watching the thread. It’s great to see there is still interest in this project both inside and out of the organization.

I apologize but I can't take anything you say here seriously after reading your trust rating on me claiming I've stolen 2,100 BTC.

Actually, I don’t touch anyone else’s money ever. NastyFans itself doesn’t even allow deposits. Seems you have no idea what you’re talking about. Pretty typical of those that shitpost here.

Now you’ve completely lost me. I don’t run NastyFans. I am a minion. I’ll continue doing my best to raise BTC for NastyFans and if you have any questions, as you clearly don’t understand the organization, I’d be happy to try and answer them for you.
Howsoever you obfuscate your methodology, this is about you and your responsibilities to people who have invested in your name and reputation.

You cannot invest in my name. I don’t run NastyFans. You can buy seats from other members and join me in being a seat owner and member of this organization. If you are a really good person who genuinely cares about the organization, you can even join me in donating mining proceeds or start a service and donate a portion of your earnings to the club. If you’re just here to spout nonsense hoping someone mistakes it for a legitimate complaint, you’re barking up the wrong tree. Most of the folks here knew how this organization worked long before you discovered Bitcoin, so your misguided attacks appear as nothing more than an opportunity to set things straight for new users who might have similar concerns that need to be debunked.

is this pool still active? I configured one miner to it and it showed hashing in the antminer Miner Status screen for all of about 30 seconds and then went blank. my miner showed up on the ticker but shows 0 which makes sense as the miner stopped mining after less than a minute.

not as I typed this, it reconnected and started hashing again, then stopped again...

is this the norm with this pool?

NastyPool is still active and looking at the current user charts, I don’t see anything that appears out of the ordinary.

What miner/software are you using? Also, you should be aware that mining on p2pool is very risky currently as the hashrate is quite low. It is possible that no blocks will be found for a period measuring in years. If supporting decentralization isn’t something you are willing to sacrifice reliable earnings for, you may want to consider another pool. At least until some issues with the currently splintered p2pool networks improve.

I am using a single S9 with bitmains software - it only did it 3 times so far, if it continues, I may move it back to another pool. I have quite a few miners I move around. To some degree, I do not mind supporting decentralization Smiley though it would be nice if the payout it is currently showing was real - I would move all my miners here lol. My miner is up to like 0.00072248 BTC already after less than an hour.

You’re likely referencing the expected amount should a block be found. It could be a long wait with the current p2pool state. Make sure you are aware of the odds of finding a block. You may want to try using a different NastyPool node, or setting the other node as a backup, so if you did drop from one node, you’d resume with the other. It’s never a good idea to rely on a single pool regardless of what pool that is.

It’s never a good idea to rely on a single pool regardless of what pool that is.

yes - expected should a block be found. I spread between quite a few pools with quite a few miners. I am currently on 7 different pools with ranging from 1 miner to 5 miners per pool.

it keeps disconnecting though so I sent it back to kano.is for now - I will try with another miner later and set it up to point to both nodes - If I recall there were only two to choose from.

Yes, there’s a US and a European node. If you let me know what node you’re having issues with, I can request they restart it for you. Perhaps that may resolve the issue.

Hey all

Don't know if this was asked before so sorry if so. You can redirect me to the answer if so.

Are we using the mainnet of p2pool or the jtoomimnet?

The jtoomimnet seems to have way more power ? Im trying to understand why there is 2 net.

If you can, please explain why jtoomimnet exist and if we are not using it why?

I will try to read more in the meantime. Thanks

NastyMining is currently mining using Nicehash. This is a decision I made because we were mining several different algorithms (only 2 currently) and p2pool wasn’t producing the steady rewards I wanted to see. NastyPool however is mining on the p2pool mainnet.

You’d have to refer to the p2pool thread to get all the dirty details of why the network split. The short version is that jtoomimnet doesn’t support altcoins and for that reason it’s updates were never merged into the original software branch. You would need to get nonnakip’s explaination for why NastyPool decided to stick with the original chain, but I suspect it has to do with supporting the p2pool creator’s chain and feeling like there was maybe a better way forward than jtoomimnet’s changes.

6 years ago nastyfans auction opens. I post some fun facts about the sixth year of nastyfans...

  • 1492 seats sold on the auction (total of 2.95757 BTC)
  • 1 year ago a nastyfans seat sold for 0.0015 BTC ($22.56)
  • most recent nastyfans seat sale was for 0.0021 BTC ($13.52)
  • 112 seats minted
  • 2.19503546 BTC donated to nastyfans
  • 1 seat accepting donations received 0.00005506 BTC
  • 33 new members
  • NastyPoP payout method paid out 0.01725947 BTC (despite no P2Pool blocks solved)
  • 4 articles featuring NastyMining and nastyfans
  • donating sponsor CoinCaps.net
  • introduced 1000-seat 4oz platinum coins
  • opened 1 poll

There are many things in planning. It will be fun to see the list in December 2019.

I thank the members for making this fanclub so much fun to be with!

Happy New Year Nasty Fans!

Where do we go from here?

I saw the status posts from OgNasty about Funds, Wind Turbine, R4, and the whole Net split.

It seems that mining on P2Pool isn't happening and if anything we're looking to NiceHash?

As usual, I appreciate any guidance here.

I shutdown my mining operation due to 'non crypto reasons' and in the process I ended
up with (2) Brand New, Unopened S9 Units, in the Box from Bitmain in addition to my
(2) Used S9 Units, for a total of 4.

The used ones have power supplies, the new ones do not.

Any interest in any of these?

I may or may not return to Mining.

Thanks again it has been quite a ride!

Happy New Year.

NastyPool is still mining on p2pool with a low hashrate. However, NastyMining has chosen to mine on NiceHash to continue providing regular donations.

I sent a PM about the miners. I’d love to operate one, and maybe another fan might be willing as well.

Edit: No response to PM.
