Anyone tried running one of these beasts off 2 PSU's ... aka 1 for each board?
Not sure whether I am seeing correct numbers so I'll cross-check with anyone who has (or has not for that matter).

Running 1 S5 with 2 Dell 550W server PSU's ..... I took this snapshot an hour ago, but the errors have crept up to 25 (0.0008%)

EDIT: And I am running this with just an S3 fan in pull .... seems like the stock fan arrived dead!

I am not running a 2 PSU setup. But I have lots of HW errors even if I underclock the S5. I am running now with 0.02% error rate default speed. I am using a 730W Xilence PSU with 56A on the 12V rail. Could HW errors occur more often if the S5 has problems with the PSU?

EDIT: I have not seen more than 41 degrees celsius on the blades due to winter time...

It might. I've never heard of that brand of PSU. Is it 80 plus? Bronze or gold rated? Can you measure the watts at the wall. You may be cutting it close with that one, if it's not very efficient.

Edit: I have had issues running miners in too cold of an environment in the past. It could be the cold, but I still suspect the PSU.

Xilence (http://www.xilence.de/en/home.html) is a german/chinese company. The PSU is 80 plus certified. It was tested for efficiency and reached 82%. Under full load the 12V rail had 11.85V. Peak power output before it shuts down was tested at 900W combined power. Based on that data I thought it should do the job. Sadly I can not measure the power consumption at the wall.

I am thinking it's fixed now. I had refresh it a couple of times before posting about it but now I just refreshed again and shipping is showing up. So maybe it's fixed. I would have ordered if the shipping had been free

Impressed with my new S5. I have it set up in my unheated garage with an ambient temperature of -1º C. I went with defaults across the board.

Check these temps. 30-35º C. Fan noise is nothing. All of a sudden I love winter.

Looks like I may have to order another.

Is there an SSH command or script that I could run on a computer on the S5 network that would keep the S5 responding to SSH commands, but not mine?
Then later on a command to resume mining?  I couldn't find a program that would operate as an on off timer, and using a physical wall outlet power timer seems a bit barbaric.
Also, setting the frequency to 100M equals around 140-180watt usage at the wall while getting 350-450GH, didn't let it run long to see if it was stable rate on the pool.

Datacenter Technician and Electrician.  If you have any questions feel free to ask me as I am generally bored looking at logs and happy to help during free time.

Well our S5's are up and humming!!

Not to bump an old post - but I do still have a number of both $30 and $45 S5 Coupons left.

They are good until 2/4 - one coupon per miner.

PM me if you're planning to order and I can send you info. They will save you money on your order.

Best,

You're not mining BTC. Whoever is renting your hashrate through NiceHash is mining an altcoin - Neos or whatever the latest "thing" is.

What does HW means from the Miner Status page?

Also there was a link to a third party piece of software that monitors different rigs, Bitmain products being one brand.? I should have bookmarked it because I can't find it in serach.

Thanks.

Did anybody tried a low setting, like 300 mhz together with some very low dB fan or couple of fans (push-pull), like Coolmaster Jetflo (up to 2000 rpm)?
It has only ~95-100 CFM, but just 36dB, which is pretty much silent. I want to deploy a couple of S5 in my actual office space and Scythe/Noctua  combo might be a bit too loud (they are OK in another room at about 46dB each).
