also - will the S5 have a full-frame case again like the s3? None of the pictures show a top cover, or even a bottom cover. I assume its to show off the innards, but if a lid isnt actually included the entire dynamic is changed somewhat.

ps: The Sp20 has all the connections at the front, and could be stacked into a 5x5 grid unlike the antminers, which can only stack side-by-side (becomes an issue if you have limited space or 15+ units)

S5 only shows a single fan so I expect it's a surrounded case utilising the same format as SPT with air being drawn through, rather than pushed through.

It's the same setup as the C1, one fan at the front pushing air through (looks like if there are screw holes in the rear you can simply move the fan to the rear in a pull position or change to the Silverstone fan I've been upgrading my S3's with).  The size of the S5 looks to be the same as the S3 minus the rear fan.

The S5 does have a clear advantage for some people. The fan noise. Some just can't deal with the SP20 noise.

I can stand SP20 (fan 50, 1350-1360 gh) when I am 20 feet away (not in the same room), with a caveat that I did not try fan at 20 yet, but would have to either create a noise reducing solution or cannot expand/buy more. Hacking the setting of fan to 15 maybe another route.

Hi Guys,

S5 is same size as S3.

Any suggestions, PM us!!!

English Support is getting better and will be...  (I hope, if not let us know  Cry)
+1-844-248-6246 Option 2 for the techs.
Native Speakers are limited so if the line was not answered in 3 minutes, please leave a message, someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

If a 10' pole is not long enough, we may have a 20' pole to share   Grin Grin Grin
(Sorry not being politically correct, but should be no pole needed for the S5  Wink)

New firmware Revisions to the S3 & S3+ are almost complete. This time, we are currently testing with over 2,500 S3 and S3+ with different batches to make sure it runs smoother.  *CPU performance seems to be getting better.  Hopefully the revision be uploaded once we confirm the firmware works better on these mass testing.

S5, you don't have to "hack" to achieve 0.51W/GH at higher $/GH, or better noise level

We are the support group but if you think the S5 price is not advantageous to customers, would you kindly PM us so we can forward the info to the internal sales team!!!

Happy Holiday!!!!

It depends pretty much in the shipping price for the single and the 20-pack S5
$450 is OK-ish but if you add $100 shipping it is not

So when will the orders get opened

Main competitor ...SP20 :

$659 / 1700GH = $0.38765 per 1GH

Yours S5 is :

1155GH/s x $0.38765 = $447.73 ...Fair enough... Grin

BUT, Let's ADMIT that SP products are superior ...hardware-, software-, quality-, support-wise than yours...

The only tool left for BitMain is PRICE ...Beat them like under $400 per S5...Capisco... Huh

$450 seems little high

with shipping and customs tax on top.

and poor English support. The new SP is far more efficient and what Asicminer has coming.

Underclocked, i'm getting < 0.51w/gh (at the wall) with my SP20 already, and at 1.1TH/s... I see no reason to buy S5 since the SP20 gives that at low clock, and then I have space to move up if I want to.

+1. The SP20 can be clocked to match the S5, and can easily be clocked higher or lower via the UI, not by having to find a reliable&efficient 9V or 6-10V adjustable source.
(friedcat did a similar thing with the prisma - saying if you can feed it 11V its more efficient - but in reality thats easier said than done)

If you assume an MOQ:2 as before, and shipping of ~$100/unit like for the S3 you get two approximate options;
3x SP20 = $1900 shipped, or $630/unit
3x S5 = $1350+shipping (~$300) = $1650, or $550/unit

or
15xSP20 = $8000 shipped = $533 each
20x S5 = $8400 (no info on shipping) = $420 each (plus ~$50 shipping?)

TBH its not bad pricing on both sides, but the spondoolies have FAR more flexibility to adjust for higher hashrate or better efficiency, while the S5 is stuck based on the input voltage.

Worst still, the SP20 has been out for a while, the S5 is just being released. Bitmain wasted too many resources on the U3 and C1. Where bitmaintech used to be at the forefront, they are now on the back foot.

The S5 is coming out way too late to be a serious contender.

When S4 came out, the comments were exactly the same...

Too expensive, no ROI etc... but ppl still bought a whole lot of them... the same will happen to the S5 and BITMAIN knows this very well

Meh.

I'm still irritated with the S3 -> S3+ debacle, and the S3 firmware still being broken such that the #$*@#!nG alarm still goes off when the pool goes dead - ignoring the checkbox setting in the webGUI to disable the alarm. Woke me up at 3am in the morning last night.

really wasn't a 'debacle' .. it's just that most people didn't know what to do to prep hardware to get a good over-clock. my original s3 units are still hashing over 500g/hs. i never had the alarm issue because i placed a piece of electrical tape over the speakers.

i always change my antiminer network connections towards the back and place them on their sides and stack them up without their covers. this provides the best airflow for the ants.

Point being, here's hoping your S5 product launch goes better than your S3 product launch.

Don't get me wrong, I look to acquire a few S5's in time, but the S3 experience - as a B1 through B3 buyer - left a really bad taste in my mouth after being quite happy with my prior S1 and S2 purchases.

I agree..what debacle? My batch 1 S3(s) worked like a horse for 5 mo before I sold them for a very decent price. With later software it beeped much less, later units did not beep at all, unless they lost internet connection for a few minutes.

How many chips? (16+15)x2 = 60 ?
What voltage? 0.80 volt?

So, should be 22x60 = 1320 GH/s and 760 W on wall

Only one fan, 3kg radiators - very low to dissipate 590W, it will be very noisy

To elaborate, after re-pasting and extensive tweaking of my twelve B1 through B3's, I have not ever been able to get ANY of them hashing stably above 460GH/s without X's showing up.

I'm glad you're stable at 500GHs. That's pretty incredible considering the experience I've had.

... and I think you will agree with me that the need to place tape over a speaker to mitigate a software issue is unacceptable, all things considered.

Finally, debacle is probably too overdramatic, I admit. "Disappointment" would be more apropos.

i think batch 1 will be sold out long before i will be in position to buy. i am looking over my mining options now. it seems can only run one or amybe one and half of these with my rm1000's. i did buy a new rm1000 during newegg 'black furday' in case there was any new ants being released. appears my intuition was right.  i bought a new ax1200i too for new pc build too. i scored big at newegg's 'black furday'.. they had some great deals. well meanwhile i have to figure out if will be profitable to swap out my S3 farm .. then i have to buy coins cuz i not spending any my mined coins. i am one of the evil miners who hoard all their coins.
