Everyone loves TOPLESS right? S5 batch 1 will even be the Bottom Less!!... (I thought it had the bottom plate but I think I was wrong. I just realized that....) Side will have the cover. Bottom = YES Top = NO (Open Top Design) So have we heard definitively whether or not there is a top and bottom to this unit?
(not being a troll...) I will say, I think that this is a great idea... he benefits to those living in colder climates , it's good. Merry Christmas!

That would be our wishful thinking... Bitmain is going back to the basic! Lets take a step at a time to make sure this may be the return of the S1.

Antminer S5 has a total of 60 BM1384 chips. 30 Chips per hashing PCB x 2. Hope this answers your question! Quick question: How many ASICs per board on the S5?

waiting for independent review
i'm about as independent as they'll find. But what you will get is a dogie review, because they are paying him to do it. Bear that in mind when he tells you it's the bestest minerz in the wiurld.

Not impressed by the tag line: " The absolutely promising bitcoin chip in the market". Really? I can only hope no advertising buro was paid to come up with that slogan Specs look like a modest step forward. Pretty much leading the pack today, but probably not enough to compete with upcoming AM/BF/SP rigs, but much will depend on their time to market. Non native english speakers, I've already requested the picture be changed.

So a 15s2p string. At 12V that gives 0.8V per chip, and an expected hashrate (according to your charts) of 1320GH - about 14% more than the listed 1155GH. Where's that come from?
Also, how susceptible are your chips to under/overvolting from ripple currents when some chips in the string underperform? Is there a parallel current path to loop around underperforming nodes to keep load currents and node voltages relatively constant? Just wondering about stability and such.

it doesn't have a lid?
Specs ok but don't like the open design. I wish the price were lower also. It does have a lid, just for show. Otherwise the pictures would be identical to S3 BMT already addressed, thanks. Should make a nice space-heater with the warmth emanating from the top.

I am kind of disappointed... was more hoping of minimum .25/w/g...
Such a huge gap between the S1 & S3, this isn't even a gap since it's still the same, but improved, 28Nm process.
Its a 53% W/GH reduction compared to the S3, that's huge. You can now get 50% more hash rate using the same infrastructure, space, power and cooling.

A bit harsh raskul, Bitmain may have dogie on the payroll, but he would already have lined himself up to do a review, as he does with all new miners as they come to market.
