Short answer is maybe. If bitcoin becomes widely used by the masses the price will need to increase a lot. Still not enough to make you a millionaire.

Yeah that is why I am hoping that in 2016 a lot of people will use it and the new generation. Like student they can use bitcoin to pay there things you can earn a lot with bitcointalk campaign or other things.

I was hoping more like 2020 still who knows what can happen.

Don't underestimate greed. A bubble will happen again....
Yep, talk about fundamentals is a bit of a joke really when companies with no profits, no revenue and even no assets are valued more highly. About the only fundamental requirement is for the gateways to be wide enough to handle the cash<->btc exchange.

I don't think so. I think you'll need at least 1000 bitcoins to become a millionaire by 2020. It also depends on the value of bitcoin of that time.

Just for fun. What's the market cap of physical GOLD ? Sorry, these number are a bit old/hack, but i think they're in the right ball park. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21969100So, let's say, with time added, 200,000 tonnes of gold. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_reserveAt a price of US$1,500 per troy ounce, one tonne of gold has a value of approximately US$48.2 million. So, 50 mil * 200,000 = 10 Trillion. For all the GOLD in the world. 10 Tril / 21mil is 'roughly' 0.5mil per coin. 1 BTC = $500,000 Of course, I'm not saying that Bitcoin will be as big as Gold.. Could be bigger - LOL.

I think some of you are underestimating how little of a capital injection is needed to have the price hit $4-5k for an asset that can't be printed at will like fiat can.
Even if 1 bank put a small allocation into bitcoin, the price would increase by a few hundred.

Well we never can tell what will happen with bitcoin by then. 2000 -3000 dollars is also a good amount of money. I am just hoping as a minimum 5000 dollars or more.

By 2020 only one bitcoin is more than enough to become millionaire. I believe in bitcoin's growth in exponential manner. So, bitcoin will be hitting $10k mark by end of 2016, then 2020 would be year we can see bitcoin will be hitting one millions mark.

I will always hold couple of bitcoins even if it crashes down to $1. And I know there are tonnes of people like me. That means, bitcoin will always be around with better prices over years. I don't think 1 btc will make us millionaire at around 2020 but I believe it may really do in 2080s.

Given that there has been 4 bubbles in the past 5 years. We'd have at least 2 bubbles the next five.

A realistic optimistic price speculation is 10k$ by 2020 IMHO and that would make a lot of people happy (including me). 100 BTC is definitely a good position (a good bet ?) for the future.

The price going to anything above 5k is debatle. In fact I am quite sure it's not going that high. The last pump on this scale 200 to 1200 was a once in a life time oppertunity.
Normal pumps will get a max 200/300 pump at a time.

I find skeptics argument amusing. Will it happen by 2020-maybe not as timeframe is unclear, but bitcoin is very much a binary proposition: either a very large number at the steady state or close to zero.
Numbers like $400, $1000 would make no sense when >95% bitcoin would be already issued, which is by ~2026. Bitcoin is a new asset class in addition to equities (stocks), bonds, property (real estate), commodities and cash. I know that it is qualified as commodity in US and cash/currency in EU, but even that shows that it is a different (new) class as they try to understand and regulate it in various jurisdictions.
Each asset class has value in excess of multiple trillion $. Do the math, $1 tril is ~50K/bitcoin, which is a lower bound IF bitcoin will establish itself.
The question is: what is the chance of it (bitcoin) establishing itself as an asset class? Answer this and invest accordingly. Personally, I think that it has ~20% chance comparing with 10% chance last year, so chances are improving and prices reflect that. If and when chances will be considerably higher (say, above 60%-70% or so), price would undergo a phase transition/hockey stick in S-graph diagram to reach $ trillions, and then it would move to be a fait accompli and no more large price appreciation would happen, just usual up and down fluctuation with a slight upward bias.

Hhmm if ever that happens I think a lot of people will be millionaire and billionair and that will be nice. But I think we won't be that high in 2020 maybe in year 2050 or something like that. Maybe I am wrong, maybe in 5 years we will see more than 10.000 dollars.
