100 bitcoins. Will I be a millionaire by 2020?

If the price doubles every year, the price could be $6000 in 2020. With 100 bitcoin, you will be worth $0.6 million.

Doubling every year is hoping too much.
Somebody offering those returns would be called a ponzi operator. 

The price will not double every year , the doubling of price of bitcoin occurs only in the halving and after that a slight and regular increase will occur in the price of bitcoin with the passage of time, so with 100 BTC we can not be millionaire in quick time.

The last halving was in November 2012.

Between September 2011 and September 2012 price (BTC/USD on Bitstamp) changed by +105% (i.e. it doubled).
Between September 2012 and September 2013 price changed by +1040%.
Between September 2013 and September 2014 price changed by +240%.
Between September 2014 and September 2015 price changed by -46%.

On average, price changed annually in that 4-year period by +335%, but that's not the point - the point is that doubling (or even significant price increases) has not been restricted to halving years.

If the Bitcoin price is at $10,000 at that point in time you will be a millionaire. But the price will not be that high so soon the price difference between now and what you want it to be then is just to big. It will never rise that fast with in a couple of years.

Yes it is impossible for the Bitcoin to reach that much price in 2020, at that year the price will be around $1000 and maybe it reach to $10,000 in the next 20 years after that we will be millionaire.

Ok so lets's assume we will make another 50% gain this year the price would be ~$675.
If we could gain 50% every year for the next 4 years this would bring us to a price of $3417,18/BTC. (675 * 1,5^4 = 3417,18)
This won't make OP a millionaire but definitely is a nice amount of money I would say.

Definitely! Past performance is obviously no guarantee for the future, and I can certainly imagine that the annual quadrupling we've seen on average might be reduced significantly, but even "moderate" annual rises would result in fantastic prices in 2020.

(In most any other market talking about 50% annual rises year on year would be ludicrous... we're talking about it as a realistic possibility, one that's not as impressive as the past!)

If you keep on saving the coins and do not spent it till 2020, you will have a great chance of becoming a millionaire with bitcoins.Also it is the fact that Bitcoins price will keep on raising till 2021.

In order for the owner of 100 bitcoin to be a dollar millinaire, the price for each bitcoin has to be $10,000.

It is more realistic for the price to be $100,000 in 10 years. I reckon the price will double each year in the next 5 to 10 years.

Yeah you need to wait longer to become a millionaire with that amount as I don't think that price will reach to the moon in next 4 years.

I wouldnt think so.. it took 5-6 years for bitcoin to come from nothing to a couple cents, to now $450 zone today.

And thats after all the hurdles it went through, so to say that it would mean theres a huge sense of new money coming from somewhere then.. which would only hit those value range.

No a millionaire, far from that you will maybe be rich but a millionaire is not gonna happen for sure.
You would need a lot more bitcoins to become a millionaire and its also not to predict these days.

I do not know because I cannot look in to the future, if the bitcoin price is $10,000 then I guess you will be millionaire but I think that that chance is a bit small.

2020 is just 4 years away. The US dollar will still be the world reserve currency. It is still the strongest currency.

Well when bitcoin becomes stronger dollar too becomes more strong. So as mentioned in terms of bitcoin one can but when calculated in terms of dollar nothing can be said in a exact manner as price variation occurs often.

i think that you actually might be, but only if bitcoin will still be so popular in future, and  i think that it will be even more popular, so it's price will rise too, so that is possible

and if you will want to sell them then, well i don't think that it would be good idea as bitcoin then will be so popular that every store will accept it, so you would only lose some money by selling them

I think you have a shot only if the Yuan devalues and China goes on a Bitcoin/gold frenzy as some are predicting. For me it's a very long shot, like 1 in a million or so but if that happens, you will be a millionaire alright . That's in the short term.

In the long term, if everything keeps going well with BTC and it starts getting more popular and increasing in price each year as it happened since its inception, well I can definitely see prices for 1 BTC around 5-10k by 2030 or so, not sure if that sounds great to you but I think that's something more realistic (I would say you have 50-50 chances of that happening).

I think you have great chances to get millionaire because with 100 bitcoins you only would need a bitcoin price around $10000 to have a million,  although to be realistic it seems almost impossible for the next four years.
