The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Good news, thanks SMAC team...

Agreed good news.  Still not happy with the name but that is not the most important thing right now.  Now hopefully this should raise confidence in the coin.

I'm also thinking it might help to get some SMAC on some far eastern exchanges (although I don't really know any personally that are trustworthy).  Some foreign language translations may also help as I get the impression it is mostly Euro/US investors right now.

When do the reward programs start for holders who continue to hold and stake?

Buyback now end up in dev pockets.

"BuyBack: Monthly

The SMAC team expects the first buyback to be roughly around March 31st 2015 however, as the month progresses, the SMAC team will provide updates on Twitter and the official BCT thread for the buyback date.

Each month we will take a percentage of our revenue and buy back SMAC on the open market. The coins bought back will be used for contests and reward programs for holders who continue to hold and stake."

Personally i don\t think anybody here has been holding long enough to be even thinking about that kind of stuff, how about concentrating on things that push SMAC forward since your rewards will be fairly useless if it's worth nothing.

We need more volume.  Unfortunately I'm out of free BTC otherwise I would buy up some more whilst prices are still low.

I think explorer down and also i think it was not showing the proper distribution percentages because i made a new wallet to see if my balance changed on the explorer, sent coins to it, and checked explorer 1/2 hr latter and my balance had not changed, not complaining just saying  Wink

Price is up and slow up. Look at every coin that surges 500% and what happens. This growth is good to see esp since the first full buyback still has to happen.

Growth and project is coming together. Development phase is started and working on other methods to provide buy pressure into the market to keep up volume and activity =)

Looks like someone copied the idea with what seems at first like a slicker name (although Viral could be taken the wrong way too):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1041025.0

Turns out the guy behind it is a known scammer:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/207046/article.html

Will be interesting to see what happens - probable car crash sadly given the guy's form - but could actually benefit SMAC in the end.

People aren't a fan of him on Twitter but hey, I got harassed when we started this. I personally am not a fan of him but hey, take that with a grain of salt.

It is a good thing to see more coins coming in for this industry as it spreads awareness into markets that we may not have had any attention in. People will see crypto breaking, be pointed into forums and start to see the developments happening and opportunity. We were the first and made a very unique development that is still growing. We are now seeing more people and will open the minds to new developments and buyers which will help the social advertising industry in crypto as a whole IMO.

The only concern I am worried is the bad image in this market. He is known for being a spammer which is much different than targeted content advertising so I do hope we can keep our innovations apart and people can see the difference between the two industries other than one being semi illegal and one being opt-in.

My only regret is I wasn't creative enough to be a "celebrity dev" or some other catchy name. =(

I was never really an advocate for anon tech although I do believe strongly in privacy.  I am, however, starting to see growing government encroachment and over-reach into the BTC blockchain as a problem.  I was particularly alarmed by this:

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/20182/leaked-chainalysis-roadmap-angers-bitcoin-community/

I think developing countermeasures to this sort of thing will become more and more important for those of us who value privacy.  I was wondering how feasible this would be for SMAC - or even if people think it necessary?  Would it be overkill or could it be another means of strengthening it's value?

What's important is that a. SMAC is following through with the buyback as promised and b. $1400 is a good amount of revenue for only the first month!

If you guys didn't notice, SMAC is putting their money where there mouth is! How many coins can say that!!
