Even the first Gridseed it had dual mining but nobody mined dual mode.
To many heat related problems that nobody care to solve.
I mined ONLY LTC with these miners until I sold them all
Hope this miner will have less problems and good pricing

Now it's down to 2 watts per MH. I hope to assume they'd have 10 MH.

You are right, I had a bunch myself but the dual mode was a poor implementation.. Hopefully they got it right this time around..

Looking forward to seeing what is available and offering a review myself.. From the 5 chip Gridseeds, to the Gridseed blades and beyond I have been with dual mode/Scrypt ASICS from the beginning and can't wait to see how this one comes together..

I which they will release a nice home miner!  Grin

I will prefer to get more chip but on low freq and than low watt/gh and paid more but get a solid Home miner!

Should be interesting just like their last release.  Might actually be a good performing miner for the home but again I like to play with Tinker Toys.
It's suppose to be released next month if everything goes right.  Probably not a server farm implementation but home miners should enjoy.

If it is like the gridseed prev dual usb miner for scrypt/sha256...it will be way too spendy imho...nice to get for 'toy' purposes
but those previous versions ..by the time you could get one...was way too much $$$$

then again if they are the only 'game' in town for a home miner..even as a non-roi toy..i'd prob get one

anyway my 'guess'

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

"Yobit pump alert software" Link in my signature!

Did we ever find out hashing speeds? Power usage? Cost?

Vegas

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed Smiley https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953

I'd like to see a review go to a person who won't turn around and sell it at the first chance like a few who have posted on here are known to do.
This is starting to remind me of the early 2000's when hardware sites started popping up and would only get future hardware if they posted positive reviews. Now all the hardware sites are like that.

Well Philipma1957 does unbiased reviews here and is limited on the power to keep doing new reviews.  What do you do with your old miners? Huh

I'd be happy to review this. You bring up good points, even Gridseeds had their subtle tricks to make them work right. If you ran a gridseed at higher clock speeds there was permanent damage (more hardware errors/day) and regular usage caused a slight increase in HW errors (something like .01%/day). I ran two blades for 6+ months without fail. I started with 0-4 HW errors per blade, per day and ended with 74 HW errors/blade/day. I didn't overclock the units to any damaging speed. There was a narrow window that wouldn't incur damages, it was basically a higher speed that didn't incur any higher HW errors, (it took awhile to find it since early on there were very few HW errors/day).

If they do make a dual mining unit, I hope it has the thermal capacity to run both at a higher speed and lower efficiency. A big problem gridseeds had was their subcomponents, or in more particular, the voltage regulators were not very efficient and were not covered by any heatsink and as such they would either overheat, or fail in the long-term. I sold my gridseeds for a very low price since that was a high risk to myself.

I still have all the necessary parts to test, a Hardware bench, multiple Raspberry PI's, power cables (16 Gauge), Power Supplies (80+ Gold), Digital Multimeter, and an available power at-the-wall monitor. (And more, but it's a bit too long to mention).

My only major hope is that these units will be quiet, I live in an apartment and loud noises are extremely hard to control. The blade's were noisy, but in the hardware mount they were acceptable.

Depending on the price I'll post something. I think it's important to get an alternative view to Dogies Mining guide (if he does one for the Sfards unit) and would add a bit of weight behind his guide if I came to the same conclusion. I sure hope Dogie reviews one, the pictures are always amazing.

I think his point was that opening the box, plugging it in and running for a day before advertising it for sale doesn't help us much. I personally run my units until they die, or I'm really at 100% capacity. I like to see exactly where the other end of the bathtub curve is, when the units fail, why and how. That tells us a lot.

True, I get that.  But other operating costs are involved.  Have you seen his setup?  And I thought I was ghetto. Cheesy
I'm not bashing you Dogie, I think anyone with initiative to do a review is doing good for the community.
Sfards would be smart to release a few for reviews in the coming weeks.

old miners are sitting in a closet because I run them. I don't turn around and sell them because "I knew I was at capacity but I want to fuck the community and take it anyway." Oh and charge like new price when I resell them too Tongue

Personally, I'll sell equipment for the right price - bitcoin is a business, and if a product can be sold at profit that means it can be replaced by more of it, or by a better product.

I'm not going to lie: I got an S5 review unit which I sold. But I took about 3-4 weeks with the unit, overclocking it, feeding it cold air/hot air, 5V/7v to the fan, trying to make it quieter. Eventually I got a good offer for it (~20% over new) and sold it, because my experience with he SP20 was better and I wanted hardware that has adjustible fans, better tech support, better voltage control, and ports on the front face.

being a reviewer doesnt mean you have to be a lifetime customer - it means you'll do a fair review and give the unit sufficient time to fully understand it.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

I agree, but I'm a bit different. I reviewed the Gridseed Blade and sold it once it was no longer profitable. (Electricity is expensive here) So I sold it to someone who could still make some money off of it.

I guess if you have tons of different miners, it can become a hassle.

I have a bit of a different approach to that though, I would like to see what hardware mods can be done to improve the cooling efficiency. That's where the 3D printing fun stuff comes in.  Cool
