It looks like that huge spike in difficulty about a week ago was just luck?

still up 7% that is way more then gear sold.

I think the 11-13  spike was gear sold + upgrade of a big farm + good  luck.

So the 6-7 now is gear sold + upgrade of a big farm + 0 luck or  - luck

In the GPU days we used to do this so the difficulty didn't spike up too much.

Wow this is getting crazy. Big pool unplug miners to drop the % and then plug them back to get more BTC after.

 I say no,but not impossible.

I know a lot of btc addies used by bitmaintech  their btc sales are not that high.  way less  10,000 s-5's more like 4000.

 now they could provide a hidden address to a big farm and they could also sell tons via bank transfer.
 
 So if they did 6000  that way and 4000 via btc it is only 10000 units which = 11.5ph.

 But  I do think they may have working s-6 units they fired them up and back down. which could be 4th a unit x 2000 = 8ph.

It will be interesting to see what comes.  If hahrate drops overall, if an announcement of next gen comes out, or nothing.

I just hope we do find out what it was.  But a lot of things seem to be quiet.
