So my initial plan was to invest more into bitcoin on a weekly basis but with the possibility of a split on August 1st I figured I'd wait a little. If there would be a split, there would certainly be a drop in price so maybe a good opportunity to pick some more up rather than doing it now. Normally I tend to make these kind of decisions for myself but since I don't fully understand what will happen August 1st I figured this would be the best place to ask.

And there could also be a huge pump after August 1st!

Its better to buy bitcoin now dont wait august 1 because we dont know the effects of fork but I hope so theres no effect with the price of bitcoin. But dont invest all your money in bitcoin its better invest only you can afoord to lose because they have possible the price to dump in august 1 but I hope so not. Instead of dumping price its better if bitcoin pump in august 1

I believe that there is no need to wait on August 1, this too much time can be wasted.

I would just invest in Bitcoin if I really wanted it. Why wait for the price change? You'll only gain or miss out on like a .1 BTC or so depending on how much you purchase.

If you really dont know what could happen then make the decision right now.
Regret will only come at the end when the price goes higher at that time.
There will be so much "what if's" right now but if you think it through, even if the price goes down at the said date after that it will still increase so there is not much of a change. Patience will be the key.

I think that the price will grow cause the act of split is done to make Bitcoin more agile and efficient so that it can handle more transactions which hopefully can unclog the backlogs of transactions in the blockchain.

Nobody will have a concrete answer to this unless we have a clear idea on what will happen,even if there is a split you will be having those coins if you have the private key to your wallet,if the price of bitcoin goes down,just hold it and you will likely have the forked coins,will it have any value is another thing,there are risks involved when you are investing in the virtual world and if you are ready to embrace that,then you could make some good profit,i personally will keep some coins just to see what will happen and majority will be moved to other assets unless we have a clear path.

Maybe the best way to do for this upcoming hard fork in bitcoins is to just wait for august 1 and observe what will happen,some says that it may be negative but some also say it would help bitcoins price to rise

I think you should take the risk and buy more bitcoin than wait for august 1, I don't know what exactly will happen after August 1 but what if after that the value will increase you will regret not buying more bitcoin it is better to do something than just to wait its still depends on what you think is right for you do what makes you feel comfortable. 

August is about 1 and a half month away from now and all this time a lot of things can happen. if you already have invested in bitcoin before this, then i say keep holding that and postpone your weekly investment for a while but watch the price in order not to miss out on anything.
but if you have nothing yet, then it may be a good idea to invest something at least.

If youre a risk taker and you have extra money that you can afford to lose if bitcoin hard fork will gone wrong and negative and damaged bitcoin totally,its a gamble i think because bitcoins may be gone in hard fork

Already I have bought some bitcoin and Planing to buy some also. I hope after August Bitcoin will pump and it will reach about 5k. So, I decided to hold some bitcoin.

I have some already today but I'm looking to be holding a lot more in the future. I believe in bitcoin as one token and technology but I'm not sure what will happen when there will be 2 chains. And therefore 2 different tokens, I don't think that is what satoshi intended. My weekly investment have so far been postponed until further notice.

I think we ll have flawless implementation of SegWit2x and once this happens, the price will break all records. In the period before this event, speculators will try to dump the price as much as possible to fill their bags. However, this is just my personal speculation.

My advice to you mate is you should buy before that said date will happen, because price will be more bigger after that and you could possibly hit the huge profit in the future. Month of August will definitely pump up the bitcoin price as those investors will increasingly hit that demands in the bitcoin marketplace; don't ever think it's a bubble but a reality.

Just buy right now while it's still cheaper and wait until August. It's risky tho. But worth the risk when it pumps. If you want, just do short trade for less risk. Or better look for alternative crypto for trade. Buying bitcoin is risky right now. We don't  know what will happen once the hardfork occured.

Bitcoin trading is a risky job. We don't know what will happen once August 1st finish everyone is telling the price will increase but our bad luck it decrease means it's a huge loss for us. The bitcoin price is $2600 this is not a small amount.  So better do alternative coin trading wait for until August 1st. If you can take the risk then buy some coins your good luck, you may make a good profit.

You can't know the price in 1-2 months, maybe Btc will be 3500-4000 $. And maybe after an hypothetical crash August 1st, we will see Btc at 3000$, so better than now. So buy now!!!

We do not know what will happen on that date, much better if you have money to invest do it now. No one knows what will happen in the future if you have time to earn now much better to do some action and do not wait for the time that we do not know what will happen.

If you have money then you should buy bitcoin right now.  If you will wait until august perhaps its price maybe higher than today.  We do not know what will happen on August but I would like to think that its price will not be affected.

No one can predict bitcoin market price tomorrow or even 2 months later. Okay big news sometimes affecting the price, but we don't what effect it can give. I suggest to buy as much as you can if you have chance to buy bitcoin as soon as possible. For me, bitcoin price is never drop down, it just make a correction for a while to continue rising. Just buy it.

for example take the Halving event. the hype started months ago before the real halving date or any real supply effect. the price rise happened long before the date that the first 12.5BTC block was mined.

The chance is 50:50 because this is just a price prediction, that the price of bitcoin would go on a DUMP and yeah, that is the right time to buy bitcoins and hold it and wait till the next price PUMP happens.  In this way, we could earn a lot of money in the long run if we are going to hold it and be patient about this Investment.

Exactly. Patience is a virtue on trading. I think Pump is not the most probable outcome due to split on chain. Many investors don't want 2 chains because it might cause some issue and it will not guarantee that it will solve clog on transaction. I will on august 1 to buy some cheap btc.

Why are you and everyone else so obsessed with 1st August? An import factor in the cryptosphere BEFORE the 1st of August that has massive potential to pump the price far beyond anything you are hoping to gain by waiting for a drop. Australia legalizes all crytpos on the 1st July. You should be thinking about buying BEFORE THAT DATE.  ::)

Yeah I also heard that bitcoin has a possibility of a split on August 1st, I also don't understand what would really happen on that day but maybe we just be careful and we should transfer our bitcoin in bank for our assurance so that we will not lose some bitcoin on that day.

That is a very difficult question to answer, even if bitcoin go ahead with the fork that would happen on August 1st, there might be a chance that the chain won't be split into two as no one could really knows what would happen after the fork. Maybe you could buy a few bitcoins as investment, but remember to keep it in the wallet that allows you to hold your own private key in case a split really happens.

A lot of people are going to try and do the same... but none of them knows what is going to happen before the 1st of Aug 2017. We might see a

Despite possible higher or lower prices because of 1st Aug, is there any possibility or reasons to worry for bitcoin to literally crash to something really insignificant like $100 or something? I mean, it will probably rise up again in some time later, but is what happening on that date significant enough to put bitcoin price upside down or are we talking about speculations of $500 more or less in value?

I thought that August 1st was a date of USAF. But miners realized that USAF could be something risky and unsafe so they agreed to proceed with SegWitx2 scaling proposal instead.
They started to signalling it a week ago and once they reach 80% hash rate stability SegWitx2 will be introduced. Therefore nothing will happen on 1st August anymore?

Yes. Confirmed! There is a consensus agreement already to activate segwit2x, apparently there is nothing like a hard fork anymore. So whoever wants to buy now should just buy cause the assumption of price coming down may just be the opposite.

Actually we couldnt predict the volatility of bitcoin. If you have funds to buy bitcoin you can but you know all is risks when you invest for your money. As the bitcoin price right now is $2000 plus so its expensive. Thus you may decide to buy some and invest on what you can afford.

Bitcoins will essentially be fixed on august first so the pump will be before the actual fix. This is just like when the halving was imminent and the price went up and up before the halving then even before the halving it went down.

waiting for 1st August is very risky. Since there is a huge possibility of price going Downwards and also on Upwards so if you dare to loss some money then do it. it can be your best decision as maximum situations like this are result in price rise except of few which are later proven as they where just some bubble situations. if you are worried about your current principle and afraid to loss some amount of money in the process then i will advice your experience is week for this situation you should wait and see the effect after that react on correct time.

The only reason price might go down/won't go up is because people would be scared before/during scaling upgrade.
Paranoia runs deep withing bitcoin users, they are allergic to every piece of information which is not 100% positive.
Scaling of bitcoin is unknown precedence for users, they are scared that there will be some split or major fuck up.
Once air will be cleared and we will have absolute certainty that all went good with scaling, bitcoin price will skyrocket.

Let's look at today's USD price: 2,550.

Now is not an absolutely bad time to buy, because in 5 weeks, you can bet it will touch 2,900 again. OR it drops to 2,000 but after 1 August you can bet it will go back to 2,500.

Many new comers don't really know the market well and hence they are most likely to get panic because of such news. Those people are most likely to sell their bitcoin nearing August. Hence, price might fall. According to me that time is best for buying some more bitcoin.

I can not understand what it is again for the contradictory information. Why is it that people start to agitate today, But that they start to buy Bitcoin comma because August can change completely the whole rhythm of the financial market kriptovalyut. It is rather unfortunate that a good number of fellow bitcoiners here are groping in the dark out of sheer laziness or insatiable greed for more coins that takes their eyes off things going on around them but I used to hear that a man's heart is always where his treasure is.

Come August 1st, the Bitcoin network is scheduled for a soft fork and not a hard fork. The proposed hard fork is slated to come up 6 months later, until then there won't be any split of the Bitcoin network if at all there would be one!

Essentially the soft fork will start to ease one or two of the issues affecting the network. Is it a time to run for cover? Would you rather join the panic party and dispose off your coins only to pay more for them after August 1st? Life is full of choices - becoming wealthy is one, so also is penury.

I do not think that we need to wait but should try to buy bitcoin right now , because i am sure that everything will be in favour of bitcoin and noting going again it. therefore it is a good opportunity to buy bitcoin right now and do not wait.

Now it looks like the chances of a split are quite low. So I would advise you to continue with your regular investment plan. There is a chance that a spike can occur on August 1. If that happens, actually you can do some profit booking as well.

My suggestion is not to wait till August first to buy more bitcoins. We are not aware of the impact of the fork and hence the price. Bitcoin price is now stabilizing at 2500 level to take another leap. It has regained much of its strength and the next surge will be huge. SO it's better to buy at least with a major percentage of your invest-able money.

Yea maybe I should just carry on with my investment plan, since I'm holding for the long term. We'll see what happens this summer maybe there will be a huge price spike. This is a standard split.  If you own 1 bitcoin at $3000, after the split you will get 2 bitcoin at $1500 each.  You still have $3000.  With a standard split, the price usually goes up after the split.
It this were a reverse split(which it is not), you would have 1 bitcoin at $3000 and after the reverse split you would have 1/2 bitcoin at $3000.  Reverse splits usually take the price down after the split.

Even i hope that there wont be any major shake up and i do not want to see a split in bitcoin,i really hope everything goes well and i do not want to spend too much money now because of the uncertainty ,will decide about it at a later time as i am not looking for a huge profit but i want to make sure that i do not lose anything.

yes we are hopping so and to me if a person have some bitcoin, they should hold it and not to sell it, and i person do not have it then he should wait for some time, then August and when he become sure about the price of bitcoin that is not going to effect by the present issue then he should start buying bitcoin bitcoin still has to increase more and therefore can give you good profit.

If I were you, I'd buy now. Because even if there's a drop in price, the fact is that the bitcoin will sometime in the future surpass the current pass, so it's kind of a sure profit just would depend on time and your patience.

I will recommend you just to wait for august 1 and look what will be the effect of bitcoin hard fork in that day and what will be the effect on price,if its good and helps bitcoin then give it a shot to invest but if not then find another opportunity

I think that your assumption is just right. If you are pretty sure that the price would goes down during the split then wait for the split time monitor and buy on the lowest price as possible if you succeed then during the next days or weeks when the price would start to pump again then you probably gain your profit.

We should wait after august 1 to see if the fork will have a great impact for bitcoin because the future is unpredictable and we might see a huge dump in bitcoin because a lot of people i know treat the event in august 1 as a selling point for their bitcoin so i think some of the other bitcoin user or holders think about the same thing so it is better to be sure than sorry.

Why wait? Because the op is unsure of what to do, we are going to either get a huge pump or a huge dump and there does not seem to be an indication of what we are going to get, so it is reasonable to wait, instead of taking a decision in a hurry.

i think its a good idea to buy more bitcoin on a weekly basis but you need to prepare some money to buy. i think you don't have to wait until august 1st to buy bitcoin, because we don't know what will happen in that time and if somehow in august, the price is up, then you have your own bitcoin in your wallet and you can sell it. but if you think that you want to wait until august 1st, then its a good idea too but you don't have to getting sad if in august, you see the price is increase and you don't buy bitcoin from now.

You have nothing to worry about actually. That August 1 date is not the end of the world; neither for man nor for bitcoin. So if you want to buy, buy anytime you want, regardless of that August 1 schedule. That does not matter at all. If you want to invest in bitcoin in a long-term basis, you go ahead now. If your plan is to invest in it, hold it for a short period of time, and then sell it when its pricey already, you can still buy right now. That August 1 schedule will actually fix bitcoin-related problems rather than cause some more. Feel comfortable and easy.

Yeah, that is why it is better to buy bitcoins on its DUMP state so that we are only going to wait for its price to go PUMP again in order to have the profits that we are hoping because we have invested our money in bitcoin. If you are fully forced by your mind to buy Bitcoin before 1 August then I will suggest to buy a small amount of Bitcoin and buy rest of them in the next of week in August .
Because there are both the possibilities after the hardfork , so it may be more better for you to spent money for the Bitcoin 50-50% before and after of the fork .
Here nothing is fixed before the fork because the main reason of the possibilities of success or not , may be new thing in the Bitcoin may give the bad or good impact over the Bitcoin users .
And also it may be possible that after the split of the chain people run toward the second coin and that results into down of the price of the Bitcoin due to internet in the another coin ( bu) .

Nope, a week is too short for people to see what direction this is going to go towards. The fork with Ethereum took a week, but their protocol is not the same as Bitcoin. < Andreas seems to think it will take 2 to 3 weeks for everything to settle down >

I would just make sure that I would transfer my coins out of 3rd party services to my cold storage for me to have have full access to my coins, because I will have the private keys. Then after the fork, you can decide what route you want to take, because you will have both options. ^smile^ 

Personally, I am waiting. Hard forks are highly unpredictable. Usually, prices see dips before the hard-fork as many people, like you, are confused and switch to another altcoin. Once the hard-fork occurs, they switch back to the desired version of the coin. I have already done so. I have shifted the bulk of my Bitcoin into gold which is staying at a steady price and I am going to wait out the hard-fork. I believe there will be price correction before and after the fork. It is going to be crazy and confusing, but I know that my current amount of money is safe with gold.

smart move. But for now I think the bitcoin will pump as the day pass. Because as you can see in the chart bitcoin price is pumping day by day so If you are going to invest now and hold it for long term then you will have a great amount of profit so for me dumps is normal just stay still hold your bitcoin.

My advice would be to wait until August 1. You already have significant holdings of Bitcoin and it makes no sense to purchase anymore at this point of time. It is difficult to predict what will happen on August 1. Experts have made all sorts of predictions, with each one wildly differing from the other. It seems to me that even they are not sure about their predictions.

I, too, am going to keep my coins for a long time. But I'm a little scared of the conversations that now are around the date of August 1. It is not known what will happen. Sometimes you expect one development of events, but you get something completely different

On August One, Bitcoin (and the rest of us likewise Bitcoin holders) would be crossing a bridge -- it would be a bridge of no more return. What can happen after crossing the bridge would go down in history but I am hoping that  there would be some fireworks to make it more exciting as boring is not a trademark for Bitcoin.

Personally, I prefer not to say anything whether one should buy more or to sell some Bitcoin before that date. It is a personal call so it is something you have to decide on so that come what may it is all your own decision and you have no one to blame.

I expect that there would be no split...but in case there would be then that is not something to be called as the end of Bitcoin. Ethereum did not die when they split. Yes, there can be a drop in value if that will happen but Bitcoin has this ability to surge back after falling back.

I cannot advise to buy since I'll never buy any BTC I'll do work to have it. I'll never worried about price volatility it's just a number for me and I'll already get profit for my holding coins long time ago. My suggestion is to hold what you have right now and wait for August if you see the price going down more then buy but honestly if I see the price below $2k I will never think twice I just buy directly.

Well Firstly secure your coins, using private keys then I feel defer your purchases is a sensible ideas, cause what may happen on August 1st is sure to change the course of Bitcoins forever. I don't know if coins price will drop or will it suddenly shoot up its best not to make a investment now, rather wait for the future and it's hardly days now so I believe you should not make a purchase, or keep on observing and see if prices fall then go for it.

Always buy more bitcoin. If the past has thought us anything is that cryptocurrencies will prevail. If you are afraid of losing your money simply use Etf-s.
You can use a regulated broker to benefit from the price movement of bitcoin. I'm not going to post any link but you can find plenty of options.

If you have big money to invest in the bitcoin then just split your investment into two different assets. Keep one for yourself in the form of local currency and second asset you invest completely into bitcoin before August 1. Then wait for the August 1st to come into effect and keep updating yourself about the after effects. If you see any upward moment then just put the reserved assets into bitcoin and you can enjoy bi royalty by that way. If anything goes wrong then also you will get some share of your first asset and the second asset is completely yours. :-)

I will buy more bitcoin right now,cause in the month of august well see some increase in bitcoin price. Its only my speculation its up to you if youre gonna believe me.

We might see a jump in the price and we might see huge sell and falling price.

I'd also buy now. I'm not saying right now today, but keep observing the charts and try to buy at the lowest possible point. Maybe it will be tomorrow and maybe on Friday, but people are taking advantage of uncertainty in the market and trying to push price as low as possible to buy back before another pump that will come after SegWit activation.

I will buy more bitcoin, i never sure but for me its a good idea. Because in august comes i will wait the surprising price of bitcoin. I think this is the time to buy more bitcoin before the month of August. I think August is not the end and we surprising what is happen and i think its a good. I do not worry about coming on August because bitcoin is not end and the price is maybe high. I will buy more bitcoin because i think this is the time i invest more and i will wait until August. Well if you have funds then you should go buy bitcoin and don't wait for Aug 1. We don' know what will happen to the price of bitcoin after Aug 1. But I generally believed that we are going to push the price of bitcoin to new levels. Buy now and just hold on it. Its gonna be a win-win situation for all of us come Aug 1.

If I have money now I will buy bitcoin and Wait August 1st to know what is the effect of it. And If in August 1st the bitcoin price will dump then I will hold the bitcoin i bought and wait that bitcoin will pump that's it. Yes. Buy and Hold. Nor Bitcoin prices, Ethereum prices are dropping like crazy. You just buy and hold Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies. If you guys believe in cryptocurrency then you believe that they will change the future for the better. In the meantime, here are some possible reasons BTC prices could blow up.

buy as it dips. It's preparing for August and you'll see more dump before price corrects. Will it get cheaper in July? no one knows for sure but I think it should.

August 1st effect is already starting right now, and if no something changing the core of bitcoin happens at the time I don't expect a big change in the price as well, which is fluctuating generally up and down.

I prefer buy it now, because i heard some people said bitcoin is down at the moment, and it's the right time.
Since i'm not really professional about this, i can't really guarantee you though. But still, buying now or later there will always be a risk! So just do it. For me, faster is better.

Yeah instead of waiting longer it would be good to buy them when price is low and may be on 1st August price will be much higher and not affordable to buy so I will go with a flow and will prefer to buy bitcoins at the present price as price may start moving higher in coming days.

I sold everything I had in the anticipation of August 1st. I'm still thinking if I should get in before, especially with the news that Segwit is signaled by the majority. I really just don't know what to do but I'd rather wait and if I'm going to lose money by sitting on the fence, I'll just cross it off as "insurance" and move on.

We can not be able to see what is going to happen especially to the price of bitcoin once the month of august have started, there may be a certain drop but most people seeing a possibility that there will be a certain jump on that month . Its your choice whether to buy now or wait until august 1 to buy, but probably waiting for that day might lose you an opportunity if ever the price gets higher .

i do not tempting to buy bitcoin for now and i decide to stick to my current bitcoin untill through august 1 because i'm worry about that date and there is no exact news regarding bitcoin price after through that date so to avoid unpredictable situations i had only hold my current bitcoin and wait next move to see the update

The fork can be good, it's not as negative as people sometimes exaggerate. If it goes all according to plan it'll actually mean that transactions become way cheaper than it is right now, thus making the price of bitcoin increase.

Say a chain split happens, the worst that is going to happen is your existing bitcoins become two different versions of bitcoins and you get an equal amount on both chains. So really, you're not losing out at all. Stick to buying x amount of dollars worth of bitcoin per week, thats your best bet.

It is rumoured though that a bunch of companies will try to initiate hard forks of bitcoin as well. I believe bitmain says that it's going to go about mining its own coin after the UASF if it is successful(correct me if i'm wrong), and bitcoin unlimited has majority miner support but a lot less nodes signalling support.

If i were you i would probably sell half my stash right now and then buy back when the panic sets in on or before 1st August. It's probably overhyped at the moment, and i'm sure a lot of people will panic and don't know what to do. Then, you can buy some cheap coins :)

Youre pending balance would remain i guess. You could still get the same amount for example you have 1btc you can still surely get 1btc. On fhe price tho it is expected that it would go down for weeks after the split but i guess there is nothing to worry

The fork is aimed at improving bitcoin and not downgrading it, so results of the fork should further bitcoin price and by then, you will have gained already.

Have you heard about the theory of critical mass?  It basically says that in the beginning the growth is slow as not enough people have adapted the technology... I thinkthe best course of action if you want to be safe, is to sell half or your BTC and hold in Fiat. If BTC goes down hard you can buy back in low end(of whichever coin is the dominant one). If th eprice goes up hard you can sell your BTC later, wait a little bit until the hype dies down(price should go down slowly for a bit) and buy back in.

If segwit was successful on what it is aimed for then you'll not get time to buy Bitcoins on August 1st. So it's better to buy on the dump which happens before that. But it's risky, so be sure to hold them for long time.

Im looking at that as well but if all of us believe that bitcoin will rise more and more after August 1 then no one will sell and the rate will continue to rise and by that time you can no longer afford to buy at a lower price. major support right now is at 2,400 and major resistance is at 2,600. current rate is 2,553 so it close to major resistance now and once it reached the 2,600 level then it can break out. when that happen the price will already shoot up high again.

I have been accumulating a bit at this level.  Although I think it could break down further as we get closer to Aug 1st.  I am buying dips.  If it rips it could go really fast. 

I am not good at reading charts and predicting the future ,if you have any idea about it please describe it in details,one thing i know is that in a couple of weeks there is a BIP 148 upgrade and if that does not happen mutually then we will see a split and that might cause a crash,i am not too sure about it and that is the only possibility i see.

There is going to be a huge drop by then and probably investing in bitcoins would be more reasonable when the price would be as low as $1000 or $800. And due to such fears they are selling Thier btc to keep himself from big loss.

Market is very unstabe to risk money at this moment, only try it if you wanna to save for a long period, because price can get back to 1000 dollars anytime as well return to 2500 and cross the 3000 dollars.

I prefer to buy before August 1. That is the buying time really. The most perfect time because the price is at its lowest probably. What we really need to avoid is doing transactions using bitcoin when the segwit happens.

Well, it's only a matter of days before that big Bitcoin event so let's wait for what next.

Lowest rate for today is $2,054 and still sliding down. So better opportunity to buy for us.

I guess buying bitcoin today is not good, the value of bitcoin now is really unpredictable, maybe we can buy on Aug 1 or during Aug, and check out what will happen for the value of the bitcoin. If increases then that's good. But for us to be safe we need to transfer our bitcoin in our bank account and converted it into fiat as well, go back if bitcoin value is good after August 1.

I think you should buy some bitcoins now and some after 1st august because recent changes in price from 2800 USD to 2100 USD it looks like that bitcoin will get huge drop in next few days and maybe it gain after 1st august. You need to keep your eyes on price chart of bitcoin.

Buying bitcoins for this month end is a good choice. You will get your coins for a cheap price. And if you keep that coins 2 or 3 months you will get double profit.

I would possibly buy more bitcoin right now because in the current time, bitcoin has already drop off its price exactly on morning of July 14, 2017 which is Friday. Cant predict anything now. After August 1, the pricr may be dropped or it maybe pumped a lot. I would prefer to purchase some bitcoin for now and hold untill august 1. As far as I understand recent news and events there won't be USAF on August 1st. Miners successfully managed to signal SegWit through BIP91.
In less than 300 blocks we will have full activation of SegWit which will make USAF obsolete and unneeded.
Not to mention that with over 95% support there is barely anyone who can signal USAF at this point.

I have a friend who spent his 10% of the whole budget which he kept for investing in bitcoins and he was having the same plan to buy some bitcoins at specific intervals of time until 1 Aug as he was expecting the downfall until then but sadly (for him) the price went up and up after he placed his first order and then again the plan remained plan. Honestly, we all don't know what will happen after August 1st, many people say there will be a dump and some say's there will be a pump but we have all no idea what will happen. If there will be a split or not, this are the things that make us think and in the end it all depends on you if you want to invest before or after the date. I would think more than just satoshi could manipulate the market. Different exchanges have different volumes and smaller exchanges can be affected quite easily with anyone having more than a million worth of bitcoin.

I think it is ridiculous to try to enforce a rule like that since then you will need to ask for those that say they hold to sign a message from an address with their funds and then you will need that those that sell will need to show proof that they sold as well, you will have to trust the words of the people in the forum in this matter.

I have kept all my bitcoins this year and I will probably buy some more before August as I anticipate there will be a pump when things calm down

Now, as to the question about acquiring more btc now, or wait for a little while, i think its better to wait. We dont fully understand what might be the outcome of this segwit. We might lose or maintain our coins. Having this crossroads, we have to take a pause before taking a step.

We should not panic and take things easy, we can convert some but still keep some in yur wallet or do what can male our mind contented or when bitcoin dumps maybe thats our chance to let our colleagues join btc, invite them since we all knew thay bitcoin can recover.
