1  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: Today at 02:25:41 PM
While I was scrolling through random Bitcoin-related stuff earlier on X, I stumbled upon a new wallet [Zelcore - Desktop and mobile] that just started supporting Taproot addresses: 8.3.0: New Upgrade, More Features.

  • We have to add a different Bitcoin account from the drop-down list of assets that uses the exact same name for all three of their supported formats (labels change once they're part of our portfolio).
    Note: I prefer not to vouch (DYOR)!
2  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you consider the secure element crucial for hardware wallets? on: Today at 11:59:05 AM
Some wallets like the first line of Trezor: Trezor One and Trezor model T don't have SE, due to Trezor not trusting them at that time.
I did some digging, but I had no luck finding a source for the latter part... Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?

And if you have a T1 or Trezor model T, are you going to buy a new Trezor with SE?
As a Trezor Model One owner, I'll be upgrading to the Safe 3 soon, but it's mainly because of the lack of firmware updates on T1.
- I'm not trying to play down the role of SE in hardware wallets (it's always better to have another layer of protection), but even Trezor puts emphasis on using a strong passphrase in the "latter part of their SE page".

What I am aware of is that Trezor's new line: Safe, has an SE that doesn't restrict them from freely publishing potential vulnerabilities. I have no information whether the SE of these devices are open source.
Here you go: Infineon OPTIGA Trust M
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ways to invest in Bitcoin. on: Today at 08:18:19 AM
The main advantage of buying and holding is that it is simple and straightforward.
Looks can be deceiving... Most newcomers tend to ignore the importance of having a secure wallet for their assets and when the time comes to spend those assets, they'll hit a roadblock!

Mining involves using computers to solve complex mathematical problems in order to earn Bitcoin as a reward.
It's ASICs now!

Me and my friends once mined Bitcoin on a particular app I think the app is called Bitcoin mining.
This process of mining will take you a lot of time and is also data consuming you need to have a lot of data to do this.
Normally, it won't use a lot of bandwidth [I'm blaming it on the app that you and your friends were using at the time (e.g. perhaps it was tracking a lot of stuff)]!
4  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Title: What makes a crypto exchange popular? on: June 25, 2024, 09:54:22 AM
If you use crypto exchanges, what draws you to one over another? I'm really interested in hearing what features or aspects matter most to actual users.
I tend to go with less popular ones that aren't offering a wide range of services because they happen to be more responsive and on top of that, most of them come with reasonable fees... Apart from things @logfiles mentioned in the latter part of his/her post, transparency matters as well.

Hindi ko alam kung papano nilang nagawa na gawing Gcash din ang name nila sa SMS.
Kahit gumagamit ng registered alphanumeric sender ID ang GCash, unfortunately pwede pa rin ito ma bypass [mahirap pero posible] through the use of application-to-person messaging [also known as A2P]... Maaring na-compromised ang A2P provider na ginamit ng mga scammer or hindi nila ginagawa nang maayos yung trabaho nila [e.g. verification parts on A2P's end]: Scammers can slip fake texts into legitimate SMS threads
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where can I buy TBTC? on: June 23, 2024, 01:50:52 PM
Guys, I need 10 TBTC. Faucets don't give enough to cover transaction fees. Testing an app.
I'm not sure how long you plan to do these kinds of tests, but considering that v4 is around the corner, it might be better to just go with "Regtest" instead.
- Alternatively, there's also the option of utilizing "Signet" for those tests.
7  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Sapfirex-Platform for fast and reliable exchange on: June 22, 2024, 04:00:25 PM
@Sapfirex_ex
This is the first time I've seen a so-called reliable exchange with only round numbers as its reserves [archived] and considering that your platform is still quite new, would you mind providing proof of reserve for those claims?
- Normally, a Bitcoin-signed message is the priority but in this case, just pick anything that you're more comfortable with!
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: business ideas related to or involving Bitcoin on: June 22, 2024, 10:41:48 AM
(own small store/shop)
...
I'm looking for something with a bit more connection to Bitcoin.
Without knowing what you're currently selling in your brick-and-mortar store, it's hard to suggest a great business idea but if it has something to do with electronic devices, you can try becoming an official reseller of a certain hardware wallet brand/s [the more, the better].
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What ruined your chances of investing in Bitcoin earlier? on: June 22, 2024, 07:59:56 AM
@Princess Leah
As a short-term GPU miner [in 2011] who was a college student back then, my dead GPU ruined my chances, and considering that I had a small budget at my disposal, I had no choice but to forget about Bitcoin and mining as a whole.
- FWIW, I strongly believe "everything happens for a reason" (no regrets).
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 15 minutes of reading can save your BTC.Most comprehensive article about SCAM on: June 22, 2024, 06:08:18 AM
You can also try searching : crypto hunter for hire
You might want to add a note beneath this line to point out the fact that some/most of these so-called crypto hunters are also scammers and I believe this part deserves having its own dedicated section in your article [e.g. ways of identifying them].

  • BTW, the third-party providers I've listed in "this post" might be useful.
11  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Speculation: New Trezor Product Coming on 14 June on: June 21, 2024, 05:53:29 PM
Are you sure about that?
Yes, two out of three GitHub issues [open] with the following label are referring to Bluetooth, so it's safe to say they're going down that path [at least for the next one (unfortunately)]:
- FWIW, based on how they've labeled their devices, I expect the next one to come with a new form factor.

12  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitkit - self-custodial Wallet powering lightning & on-chain Bitcoin payments on: June 21, 2024, 04:44:25 PM
Downside I notice is lack of support for Taproot addresses,
There's support for Taproot addresses but for some reason, it's hidden deep inside their Advanced settings:

  • Advanced > Address Viewer > P2TR [depending on the three address format tabs that appear, you might have to do some horizontal scrolling]
    - I cross-checked other types of receiving addresses (first ones) that appear for each of the other formats and they matched so I guess the P2TR ones are also valid.
13  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Speculation: New Trezor Product Coming on 14 June on: June 21, 2024, 07:41:11 AM
I bet one of those devices is going to be with Tropic Square chip,
Same here, but considering their CEO mentioned in the past that production would happen sometime this year, I was expecting/hoping to see it in their latest product so I guess there was a minor setback.

  • but I hopping to see Trezor making a good airgapped device as alternative for Passport and Keystone wallets.
    Unfortunately, the next one appears to be getting a Bluetooth upgrade, so it's not going to be fully air-gapped [regardless of them allowing users to turn it off in SW/HW].

Has Trezor ever made any hints that they are considering developing an airgapped hardware wallet?
No, not to my knowledge [unfortunately].
14  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Is A Second-Hand Hardware Wallet Safe? on: June 21, 2024, 05:52:21 AM
@ContentWriter
Other users already answered your question, but I want to point to something else... If the second-hand HW that you were looking to buy is at the higher end of the price spectrum, it's worth noting that various cheaper brand-new models in the market can also provide similar protection to a certain degree: List of hardware wallets [pick something that has a "secure element" while being "open-source" and having "reproducible builds"]
15  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph network fee on: June 19, 2024, 09:30:52 AM
16  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitkit - self-custodial Wallet powering lightning & on-chain Bitcoin payments on: June 18, 2024, 06:08:56 AM
Before continuing, I checked both (Terms of Use and Privacy Police) without reading everything because it was very long. I don't know if anyone reads it until it runs out before pressing the Continue button.
I'm one of those users who reads every bit of those things [if I intend to really use them] so I'd recommend others to pay more attention to such things [e.g. preventive measures]!

but looking at the code, during the past days, many bugs were discovered, some of which were addressed in the current versions, but it is still a beta verison.
Great catch with the amount of reported bugs on their repository, but it's worth noting that they've published two wallets on Play Store and they recently came out of beta [refer to this post on X]:

17  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitkit - self-custodial Wallet powering lightning & on-chain Bitcoin payments on: June 16, 2024, 11:55:18 PM
It's an interesting wallet with a nice set of features, but certain elements/parts of their website remind me of Ledger [I hope there's no connection between the two].
- I haven't fully tested it yet, but I installed it in an emulator to quickly check if there are any limitations from taking screenshots of the recovery phrase and unfortunately, there weren't any (they do have other types of warnings, but still...)!
18  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: My DCA Wallet - Organize your crypto purchases and sales on: June 16, 2024, 10:51:03 PM
Paper Bot DCA: Practice dollar-cost averaging without risking real funds.
If I understood your presentation correctly, apart from the "SHAD strategy bot", this part is also a paid feature... Am I correct? If that's the case, it doesn't make sense to charge them a certain amount of fee for such a thing.
- BTW, how much does the premium option cost?
19  Economy / Exchanges / Re: cryptobaron.org - fast cryptocurrency exchange on: June 16, 2024, 08:32:58 PM
- Large reserves;
For an exchange with many reviews on mywot, I'm seeing little to no changes in your current reserves compared to what it was "roughly three and a half months ago"!

  • Would you mind signing a message from an address that contains at least 10% of your Bitcoin reserve?
20  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRONOSBTC.COM IS A SCAM!!!! on: June 15, 2024, 10:37:08 PM
@scaran
Sorry for your loss, but their ridiculously high annual passive income [up to 420%] should've been a clear red flag to you!
