Elenelen, can you feel the heat coming from the cubes. Like from a 2000W space heater?
I would imagine 15 cubes (3 Neptunes) in a room will make it a sauna, right?

I now have 5 boxes running, but 3 boxes have 2 DC/DC's not working They show: DC0 = 0.0035V 0.0000A 0.0000W 25C Does anyone know the procedure to kick them ? Here it goes again... Cardboard, Hair dryers, all the tricks from the Jupiters.

I will take .25 btc for it
I will offer 0.05 BTC for a $400 coupon to you or anyone else with one. (I have no idea why i got no coupons from bitmain this time around - the last time coupons were given i received 21x S1 and 21x S2 coupons that all expired at the beginning of june.) I have one that expires on 2014-06-21 23:56:00 that I'll give you for free. One for me? I want to order an S2 to play with. It's boring not to mine

Because the carrot on the stick promised a free Neptune after batch 2
Even with the free Neptune one will still mine less coins than getting the refund and buying the coins directly. Also no power/cooling bills to pay, no heat, no space required. How is mining less coins with both Neptunes better than buying more coins directly with less money?

Photo is simple Only 2 seconds Take and post it
Not on this board! Have you actually tried it? You have to upload it to an image-host site, edit it, link it... It's a major pain in the ass! Yes... if that is the way... I passsss. Sorry Wow, you are the first guy to get it, the community has been waiting for ever to see and learn about this thing and you can't be bothered to take a couple minutes to share some pics. You fail lazy newb. You are definitely not going to persuade him to post pictures with this type of attitude. Of course he wants to set it up and let it hash before anything else. Any sane person will do that. Just be patient, in the next couple of days there will be a lot of info and pictures when people start receiving their units. Btw I am still curious as to why some people decided to keep their Neptunes and not requested a refund?

I have it running now (I guess I'm the first...)
It does: about 3.3 Th and 1950W at the wall (the internal ASIC-monitor gives about 1440W...I have no idea where the difference is going to). The chip is running on 475 Mhz (and can be set to 500 {not tried yet}).
There is one new thing on the controller-board: on plug-6 there is a small display-board which gives info about the IP-address and Hash-speed (very nice)... but this means as well that 5 boxes is the maximum.
The one PCE-power plug isn't running hot {the fan is indeed pressing air through the hole}, but the cables are 44 degrees Celsius.
What PSU are you using?? Thanks 1600 W Lepa Are the cables the ones that shipped with the PSU? Sorry to ask so many questions, worried about the cable temperatures 44C for the cables is quite warm, but most good quality PSU have 18AWG cables rated at at least 80C. Some Corsairs are rated at 90C, not that I expect the PSU to work properly at these temperatures. I think anything above 50C is worrying.

It feels so f***ing great that I made the only logical choice and asked for a refund. There are some really delusional people in this thread thinking that waiting for the Neptune is a good thing. A Neptune will never mine 22BTC, NEVER. Most customers will start mining at over 15 billion difficulty.
Btw I remember back in November when I ordered mine I was expecting difficulty to be at around 10 billion maximum, but then again I was expecting delivery in April/May.
|
|
|
BTW, anyone else notice how they put the component that reports the chip temperature at the very *edge* of the board
Derogatory comment with no supporting evidence ! Talk to you guys soon when Neptune ships ON TIME and OVER SPEC to see what kind of CYA excuses you are making for yourselves. Even if they do ship on time and over spec I would be mightily surprised if you ever mine 22BTC after paying all you costs (electricity, cooling, PSUs, etc) And if you paid VAT it is even harder or shall I say impossible.

Considering that I got refunded 22BTC per Neptune, how many TH/s would be needed on 1st July to mine the same amount of coins. My prediction is 6TH/s in July (16-17BTC) and 6TH/s more from the last free batch (4-5BTC)
I am very curious at what KNC would do to make the Neptune delivery worth for the people that are still waiting (why are you still waiting?)
|
|
|
Let me start first by saying that recently I haven't been a big fan of KNC either, but seeing the ASIC manufacturers landscape around me I feel extremely lucky to have dealt with them and not Hashfast, Cointerra, BFL, etc. If I have chosen any other path/manufacturer I would have most certainly regretted the investment, but with KNC everything turned out very good, not perfect but very good so far.
Yes, they are greedy and wants to mine as many coins as they can for themselves, but at least there are no bankruptcies and lawsuits involved for the majority of their customers. They could have been total assholes and held onto these refunds much longer that they did and so give back much less coins with the exchange rate going up again.
I guess what I am trying to say is that the ASIC hardware business is like a mine field with many more bad companies, than good ones and a lot of people in this thread were lucky not to land on the bad manufacturers. At least all of my investments turned very profitable so far.

I forgot to mention, but I got my BTC refund for 3 Neptunes on the 20th May, just hours before the price started to rise. KNC couldn't have chosen a better time. Original purchase price for 3 was around 30400USD and I got 66.5BTC back at 457USD exchange rate. With the current exchange rate that is almost $8000 ahead. I am so glad I requested a refund I guess the only way you can "profit" off of a refund in BTC is if you paid less for the bitcoin at the time of purchase, right? Or had it sitting in a wallet mined it for free, then anything over the price they charged would be %100 profit. Shit, not a bad deal. A blessing in disguise. Now, everyone with that profit go BUY some bitcoin! Well, 2 of the Neptunes were paid in cash with USD transfer and the 3rd one was paid in BTC (10.3BTC) mined with Jupiters when the price was near 1000USD. So from my point of view I invested ~$20300 + 10.33BTC AND got back 66.5BTC. I consider that a good investment overall.
