221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 open for sale again] The last round before the Chinese New Year on: February 04, 2014, 01:54:09 AM
OK, so I guess I shouldn't worry about my miner as I have it on a 500w PSU.

Thanks guys Smiley

My S1 is using 430w but that's overclocked.  I would be more interested in the temperature than the speed itself, which will vary somewhat.  Mine is running @ 44 both sides, again that's clocked.  I did install a fan on the front side which seems to make a big difference.

Happy Mining!

I thought i would share this:::

<jimbit_> oK,.. heres a good one..
<jimbit_> the kill a watts we use to measure wattage.... they WILL work on 220.
<jimbit_> I just plugged  mine into 220 and plugged the seasonic 750 into it with 2 antminers on it
<jimbit_> 686 watts  3.16 amps

edit:  after running for a few.. it is 689 watts.  If what everyone is saying about 440watts to OC for 20 Gh... it is NOT worth it.. not even close.
100 watts for 20Gh....

edit:  i thought I would add... this is on a 12/3 wire that is at least 100 feet from the panel

Why don't you overclock it and see for yourself instead of reading what everyone is saying.
222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 03, 2014, 09:55:55 PM
I think he's currently having a bit of a problem because he has "out of the goodness of his own heart" taken it upon himself to help out people who have bought directly from bitmain (whose communication is not as good) and are having problems, but come to him because of this OP.

Well, I guess I kinda answered for him, but it might help answer some questions while you wait for a reply...

Bitmain told me in an email to contact sushi for support and sushi contacted me personally to say I should contact him with any support issues, while Bitmain is off for the CNY.
So I believe he has contractual obligations to support Bitmain customers  Wink

Hi, I am in the UK.

Btw I am confused at what your role is exactly? Are you fully authorized to deal with RMAs or are you doing this out of good will? What exactly is your relationship with Bitmain in terms of Customer support?

In regards to the faulty board I am open to any suggestions for you to verify that indeed the board is faulty. I would be even happy if I can fix it myself, so if you can help me establish what is wrong then I would not have to send it back.

Thank you.

1st...  some customers who purchased Bitmain product else where is asking me to help their customer service and other issues.

Per Bitmain's Warranty Term, the defective item must be returned before the exchange can take place and NO REFUND.

(You can thank a few people who abused the advance part shipping and never returned the claimed to be defective items.  That caused a STRICT EXCHANGE POLICY)

There are many way to lower the hash-rate on purpose, so without receiving it at the Bitmain place, I don't think they will issue anything.

You can just send the damaged PCB only, so you can continue to hash at 90 GH/s while wait for the warranty.

What county are you located?

I received a rma part back from sushi last week so give him some time.

My problem is a partially faulty board hashing at only 135GH/s, so it makes no economic sense to send it back.
I think a better solution is to get a partial refund, which will be around 0.26BTC.

is there anyone that solo mines using the antminer s1??? if so can you share how?

Is it usually very difficult to get a reply from sushi in regards to a faulty board?
I bought from Bitmain directly and he told me to contact Sushi during the CNY.
Even sushi himself send me an email:

SUSHI

it's very difficult/ almost impossible to get any kind of support from either Bitmain or sushi.  On 2014-01-24 I received a Dead on Arrival Antminer S1.  Contacted Bitmain and he forwarded my request to sushi on 2014-01-26. sushi never replied.  On 2014-01-31, the bad board was delivered to the RMA address in the USA per Bitmain's insturctions.  On 2014-02-01 I contacted Bitmain about the status.  Again he forwarded my PM to Shushi.  As of today, nothing, no status, no board.  Almost 2 weeks of lost mining time and no board...Just my expericence

Try skype...

Sushi will help you for sure. i have only good experience with him.

What is his Skype?

Anyone know how to manually switch pools on the Antminer?
Ghash is down and all of them are stuck Sad
228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: February 01, 2014, 06:11:16 PM
@CYPER:
Did you try to overclock your Ant miners? I also want to do that with my 08-Feb. Ant-S1 miners and noticed that some members have problems with their PSUs so I have checked it again for sure.
Thanks all!

No, they are too many, so the room is quite hot.

Stock miner =/= OC miner. My OC miner suck 440watt at the wall.

So?
He ask for OC miner, not for stock miner.

Ah I see. So 440W at the wall with what PSU and what voltage (120/240?)

Guys, I have 6 coupons to use, but can only use 1 per order.
Instead of making 6 separate orders for 6 Ants, is there a way to make just 1 order for 6 Ants and use all of the coupons?

yes, lol type 6 in the box on checkout....

Wow, I am stupid. I completely did not see that box.

Thank you.

Cyper did you found out what was the problem with you faulty Ant?

No, I PMd sushi 2 days ago and he replied "I'm on the road...  please give me a bit more than a half a day so I can get to the computer."
Still waiting Smiley

Can a Seasonic X-850 850W 80Plus Gold suit for 2 OC Ant-S1?
Thanks!

I wouldn't do it. An OC S1 uses somewhere around 500w

I call that misleading information.
A stock AntMiner uses around 320W DC power from the PSU, so that Seasonic is perfectly suitable for the job.
I have 2 on a Corsair AX860i and they use exactly 700W from the wall, which equals around 640W from the PSU.
I also have others on a Corsair CX600M using 380W from the wall, which again equals around 320W DC power.

380W from the wall would need a 475W 80% rated PSU

Dude, you are wrong. PSUs don't work the way you think they do. They take AC from the wall and then convert it to DC with losses (mainly heat). So 380W from the wall is LESS from the PSU.
Please stop posting misleading information.
234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: February 01, 2014, 03:43:26 AM

My immediate impression is that your 12V DC power is far too low. Equipment will not handle well outside of a 11.7-12.4V range and it is almost certainly your PSU being a bit too weak for the job, or running long 18AWG cables that are losing voltage across the distance (partially as the cables getting warm).

I *imagine* that the all 3 capacitors should act the same way when tested - its possible that one might be poor quality and shorting/draining when tested with the meter.

2ND THOUGHT: I am not sure how the power is given from the 12V in to the 4 'segments', but if it is a chain across the the 3 capacitors in a rightward direction the capacitor could be broken and the multimeter is causing the connection to complete, but designed not to carry the required amperage through its probes -> hence voltage drops without a valid circuit. I am not an electrical engineer though, so a 2nd opinion would be a good idea before you take the soldering iron to it. If it is the capacitor, it would be a very easy fix if your friend has the tools for fire-point soldering and some experience with phones. (I personally have only a larger iron so I would not attempt a smaller component like that without buying a new tool or two)

By the way, which section is the one showing all x's? The second one I imagine?

Far too low, yet the other 8 Ants are hashing like a boss. I don't think that is the problem as they all use the same PSU in the exact same configuration.

Here it is:

236  Economy / Marketplace / Re: FREE 240 Gh Hashing when ordering a KnC Neptune on: February 01, 2014, 03:17:14 AM
I am certain this was a scam from the beginning.
The link where you can track each reseller sales also does not work anymore: http://reseller.kncminer.com/orders
And I just got a reply from KNC that: We do not change reseller IDs connected to the orders any longer.
How convenient.

Please enlighten me on what I have gained from this 'well-thought scam from the beginning' if 0 Neptune has been delivered and won't be delivered for 4-5 months?  And what promise have I broken?  Did I promise I am going to read/post every week?  Don't you think a real scammer would want to continue promoting the scam to catch more victims?  What kind of lousy scammer am I to not ask for any money/bitcoin upfront.  Worst of all disappearing months before receiving any compensation?

It is one thing if Neptune has started delivery and I did not get excited and did not started posting about my early Batch 0 order of 3 Neptunes.  Then "maybe" you can start worrying and sharpening your pitch forks.  Realistically, delivery is not for another 4-5 months for the earliest Neptunes, what would you want me to do in the meantime when there is no news or specs?  I originally made this offer not for profit, but to have fun and to meet other Bitcoin believers.  There was never any pressure and I didn't create any useless post on the main KnC thread to spam about my offer.  That's intentional as I have made it clear from the very beginning this is an "at will" proposition for all parties involved.  I do not want to turn this to into a job...  I already have one and I don't need the extra stress.  You can freely choose to believe me or not, and made your purchase with me or believe somebody else.  I have nothing to hide and you are welcome to draw your own conclusion, but I fully intended to fulfill my promise to those who had already purchased through my link.

I wasn't aware nor do I have any control over the recent KnC policy change for switching Reseller ID.  You are welcome to form your own reseller group and I will be more than happy to give KnC any authorization necessary if you want to change the Reseller ID associated with your orders.  Just let KnC know and I am sure they will email me and I will definitely give them my approval.

You can win a lot if KNC refuse to change anything like they did.

The main problem for me was that you went away around THE 10th of December around the time I posted THIS and conveniently re-appeared when suspicion started to grow. And the worrying bit is that you claim to have been away, yet I was checking daily when was the last time you were online and between 10th December and 20th January you were logged in and online at least on 5 different occasions. I have sent you at least 2 PMs during that time and I find it hard to believe you have not seen them. From my point of view you just ignored them and this topic.

I hope you do understand that people has put a lot of trust in you and if you hypothetically were to receive the free miners and just willingly disappear that would be considered a scam. So naturally it would be a good idea to offer some sort of protection to the people who trusted you. This will only show that you are serious on keeping up with your word.
Please check my post again as you have somehow missed it: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=348743.msg3882871#msg3882871

and the other with the CPU cable, where I stripped the cables = same thing.

I understand that you clipped off the CPU connector and wired the +12V and GND lines in the screw terminals correctly, but just mentioning using the CPU connector in an Antminer S1 thread makes me raise a warning: although one of the CPU (4 pin) connector does fit into the PCI-e 3 pin connector (mechanically speaking), it's absolutely not electrically compatible as GND and +12V are opposite in the pinout. If someone attempts to do this, the result would probably be disastrous.

Are you sure the 4 pin CPU connector fits into the 6 pin PCI-E?
I haven't tried, but I think they should have made it incompatible.
238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 30, 2014, 03:08:12 PM
1st thing in my mind.... PSU

Please make sure you are using a PSU with 2 +12v rails and each PCI-E cable is coming from it's own rail.  (Not 2 PCI-E connectors from 1 cable)

If the above is not the case, if you feel confortable unscrewing the hashing PCB on the network port side and other hashing pcb and swap it.  Then turn on the antminer with 1 blade only.  If it still shows many XXXXX then, it's time for the RMA to get a replacement Hashing PCB

Just got an S1 in today and hooked up. I have a section of ASIC status all xxxxxxxx and only running 156 Gh/s(avg).  I switched the PCI-e cables around and still the same. Upon further inspection I noted that the RF led is not a steady flashing rate on one of the blades.  Only flashes a couple times every other second or so. Definitely not behaving like the RF led on the other blade. Anything I can take a look at?

Hi, the PSU has a single PSU rail with a 552W of DC voltage, which is more than enough. 8 other AntMiners are completely happy with that same PSU.
Just for the testing I connected one blade with the PCI-E cable and the other with the CPU cable, where I stripped the cables = same thing.
The problem is in the board, so please check my post above and advise if there is anything I can do?
I'd rather not RMA, but fix it myself. Of if that is not possible I would much rather get a partial refund as only 28% of the miner is not working. I can let you inside the miner Web GUI to verify.

easiest way to check is to measure the voltage with a multimeter across the two legs of the inductor (grey cube above the faulting 8 chips). You should pick up a voltage of 1.1V - If this voltage is not present it means those chips have no power. I had a similar issue with my second batch antminer but it was the first 'segment' on the board that had no voltage, thus none of the 32 chips on the side worked. Bitmain was very good at shipping me a replacement PCB

Thank you for the tip. I measured voltages at various points and these are my findings:

Red: 11.56V so juice is definitely getting into the board.
Yellow: 1.1V is present here
Green: this capacitor is supposed to be around 12V, right? Yet it measures much lower and the voltage is dropping as I measure it.

Can you recommend if this can be fixed by me: a have a mobile phone repair guy, who is very good at soldering, so if I can replace something then I'd rather fix it myself.
Or if it is not easily replaceable then I would rather have a small refund as only 50GH/s are not working, which is 28% of the miner.
240  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: January 30, 2014, 03:54:34 AM
Guys how do you fix the x problem: xoxoxoxo xoxoxoxo xxoooooo oooooooo

Of the 9 Ants I got the last one is hashing at only 127GH/s because only 16 chips are working on the 2nd blade.
I disconnected the cables as told in post 1, but no luck.

Any ideas?

1) whats your power supply. a single 12V rail with >550W is needed for stable operation
2) reboot the miner - usually this clears any chip errors

PSU is Corsair CX600M and I use it for the other 8 Ants - it works perfectly.
I rebooted many times.
I even connected that bad board to one of the other Ants + different PSU and still the same. All tests conclude that it is the board fault.
