is there a block explorer that is working?

CoinEX updated to new 1.5 client and waiting for fork...

http://exc-blocks.pw

The owner of that explorer is working on it now to get it updated to the new version.

Thanks for updating so quickly, your response to updates has always be spot on.

Here is the Windows Version 1.5 New link : https://www.dropbox.com/s/xesvxid9mku1qzo/Extremecoin_V_1.5.rar

Here is the link to the source code : https://github.com/CaptChadd/Extremecoin

Urgent / Mandatory

At block 31800 the Kimoto Gravity Well difficulty adjustment algorithm will kick in, due to the unstable block times of version 1.4 this is probably going to happen in the next few hours.

All services that use the Extremecoin client MUST update to Version 1.5 before block 31800, if you do not, then any blocks you do mine with any version other than 1.5 will not be valid.

Version 1.5 of the Extremecoin client is the ONLY client to be used from block 31800, all other clients at this point will be outdated and will no longer work.

Thanks.

I have sorted the issue.

I will be changing the source code to have the KGW to take effect at block 31800, this will give everyone some time to upgrade to the new version 1.5

This is a mandatory upgrade, once we reach this block, all clients other than Version 1.5 will no longer be able to mine.

I will post a link to the new Version 1.5 Windows client in the next 30 minutes, aswell as update the source code and the website links.

Thanks.

CoinEX updated to 1.5, but we are not sure when to open the pool...

Hi there,

Would you be able to hold off opening the pool until I can get the client to be labeled as Version 1.5

The main reason is that if it stays how it is, this is going to cause so much confusion having Version 1.5 reading out as Version 1.3  Shocked

At the moment the seednode is back to version 1.4.
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.5 (Kimoto Gravity Well) on: February 14, 2014, 12:36:55 PM
Morning Capt
I've been having issues trying to get the new Qt to sync, it's been running all night still not syncing, there is a lack of connections I think.
I am using Addnode=31.193.130.77 in my .Conf

At the moment I am working on the seednode and the new Version 1.5 to get it working.

I need the client to be labeled Version 1.5 but for some reason it keep compiling with Version 1.3.

For now I will have to run Version 1.4 on the seednode so users can still at least get blocks and not have transactions stuck.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.5 (Kimoto Gravity Well) on: February 14, 2014, 11:29:19 AM
Everyone,

I have gotten up this morning to get Version 1.5 to actually show version 1.5 and not randomly version 1.3, the code and KGW is still added and has been working perfectly while it was being tested.

For the next half an hour I have removed the Windows client link and I ask for user not to compile using the current source code until I have made a few adjustments to get the version numbering correct.

Once this is done, I will add a fresh Windows 1.5 compile link here and on the website and this will be the ONLY version of Extremecoin to use, if you mine with any either versions, your coin will eventually become invalid and you will lose them.

Version 1.5 will be using the KGW algorithm bringing Extremecoin upto date with other current and modern coins.

Thank you for your patience, I am working hard on it right now.

That is strange, it is almost like your client is not getting any work to mine on.

Are you using the main seednode?

In order for the Version 1.5 to fork properly, everyone is going to have to use addnode=31.193.130.77

The longer that people continue to use any previous version, the more of their time they waste, as all those coins will become invalid, only Version 1.5 blocks mined will be valid.

Urgent Extremecoin Version 1.5 Kimoto Gravity Well is now released.

Source code can be found on the OP on here and on the EXC website.

Here is the Windows 1.5 client : https://www.dropbox.com/s/xesvxid9mku1qzo/Extremecoin_V_1.5.rar

Many thanks

I am aware that the new 1.5 client for some reason reads as 1.3, this is just a mistype in the QT about form.

I will correct this in the source code now.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 13, 2014, 12:21:51 AM
To all Extremecoin supporters,

The stale and orphaned blocks that you may be getting are due to the retarget difficulty going too low, too fast.

The reason for this is that version 1.4 was a released quickly client update to get the blockchain moving again, as it got stuck with the difficulty at 512!!

Now that version 1.4 has been out for at least a week and the blocks are being found in a timely manner, it is now time to start implementing version 1.5 of Extremecoin which will add the Kimoto Gravity Well algorithm for difficulty adjustments.

For those who are not aware of KGW, to put in basic terms it adjusts the difficulty after every block, meaning that adjustments are a lot more stable and also gives the coin a certain amount of protection from multiple mining pools.

Multiple Mining Pools are a good way for miners to make slightly more profit but they are not supportive of individual Crypto-Currenies. They can also get coins stuck in high difficulties which is not very fair on a coins supporters / miners that then face having to mine a high difficulty block.

Extremecoin for me has always been about fairness.

Everyone was given two months to mine the 200 EXC blocks before the extreme drop to 1.

I mined this coin the same as everyone else and even had to mine it by myself during some of the higher difficulties it found itself stuck at.

So now I am in the process of making Extremecoin even more fair for its supporters, investors and most of all miners with Kimoto Gravity Well keeping the block difficulty level in proportion to the amount of global hashing power on the network.

To support the release of Version 1.5 I will be updating the website, to include a new look, which I hope most of you will find, crisp, easy to follow and modern.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 11, 2014, 01:46:12 PM
Version 1.5 is going to be release in the next couple of days, possibly sooner and will have the Kimoto Gravity Well integrated into it.

This will stabilise the difficulty and make it more resistant to multipools.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 08, 2014, 04:02:21 PM
From CoinMarketCap:

43    Extremecoin    $ 542,978    $ 0.16    3,462,155 EXC    $ 4    -4.67 %

I don't have a clue what the guy talking about the coin being dangerous due to 0 on coinmarketcap, the figures on that website are right.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 08, 2014, 01:32:13 AM
Are there any functioning pools for this coin?

None that I know of.

CoinEX for some reason seems to be forking the chain separate from the solo miners which version 1.4

I am not sure why this is happening if CoinEx are pointing their client at the addnode=31.193.130.77 and using version 1.4
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 07, 2014, 02:13:20 PM
What does that thread have to do with low trading volume? Also the OP of the thread you just linked to has a trust feedback of -8, so how can you use that link as a method to judge trust for this coin.

And why on earth would low trading volume make a coin dangerous.

You are a newbie on here, so I think it is best that you read up and learn the basic's on Crypto trading before diving head saying a coin is dangerous.

EXC is a rare coin with only 1 coin per block, so of course the exchange volume is going to be lower than most coins because there are less coins to go around, this does not make it dangerous.

I have emailed BTER.com twice now to upgrade their client to V 1.4, it is not my fault if they have not done it yet and this does not make the coin dangerous.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 05, 2014, 12:36:13 PM
If out of sync it could be the difficulty is high due to massive network hash rate so taking a while to find the next block, the diff will drop a lot after this to try and keep it at 5 minute blocks.

The faucet is on the website, link in the menu bar.

Also if you have not done please add the seed node listed in the OP.

Extremecoins main forum Cryptocointalk.com allows giveaways still, I am sure.

Myself and loads of users have asked cryptsy why have they not added EXC but they just don't respond.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 04, 2014, 10:34:13 PM
Well it looks like it will sort itself out at least.

Yes, it seems to have merged back together, with the chain carrying on with the pools fork. Not surprising really as that is the only pool at the moment.

The network hash rate is as high now as it was back when it was 200 a block.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 04, 2014, 10:03:24 PM
CoinEx is on a different fork than the block explorer and seed node.

Totally right, they even asked for the seednode and I gave them it.

The blockchain has now synced to their pool and the seednode has reverted back to it.

Have a few generated not accepted in my client now.

This is the problem of having just one main pool.
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 04, 2014, 07:17:40 PM
Yes it was suppose to fork, as 1.4 has a new difficulty retarget method, the old one kept making the difficulty go stupidly high.

CoinEX has emailed me back and they have upgraded to 1.4, same with CoinWarz, just waiting to hear back from BTER.com.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Extremecoin (EXC) - MANDATORY UPGRADE VERSION 1.4 (Diff Adjustment Fix) on: February 04, 2014, 02:30:19 PM
Changes for Version 1.4 :

2 minute blocks still but now with a difficulty switch, so if a block takes too long to mine the difficulty is reduced and if mined to quickly since the last block, it increases *2.

This means that transactions / confirmations will always remain extremely fast which is a must for a currency.

This upgrade is mandatory, all previous version will not be able to mine blocks.

You can only mine with version 1.4

On my work laptop right now but the difficulty is stuck at 519 right now, the new difficulty re-target code kicks in on the very next block so the more people that can help out and mine EXC on CoinEX the quicker the blockchain can get back to a normal and more stable difficulty.

Myself and a user on there have been mining for a day so far, with another day needed to solved the block based on average hashing luck. I am in the process of setting up my other mining rigs to mine on EXC too.

When I get back home I will post the current details of the chain etc.

Once the difficulty has settled and most people have upgraded, then I will starting looking at V 1.5, push for services and additional developers.

CoinEX is upgrading now

Great news, thanks for doing it so fast Captain.
