1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Theft vs. Fiat Theft Levels? on: March 18, 2015, 12:16:10 PM
Well for me to get a rough figure, I would take the crash that happened in around 2007 to 2009 where a few of the banks just suddenly go bankrupt. For me, I will call that a theft as well because of those poor souls who put their hard-earned cash inside the banks and the funds just disappear with it.
1002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Current CRASH of 18/3-2015 on: March 18, 2015, 12:06:36 PM
Don't get too excited. I would wait for a few hours to confirm on the trend. Even if it is really a crash, then I wouldn't mind slightly. Just go ahead and let's see how low it can go. I've already got my funds put on standby. And thanks to those people who decided to sell and allow me the chance to buy it so cheap.
1003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you earn your bitcoins ? on: March 18, 2015, 12:02:33 PM
A portion of my earning comes from advertising campaign from a few blogs that I own although indirectly the earnings are in fiat which I later use it to buy bitcoin. Currently in the process of negotiating with one of the customers whether the guy will directly pay me in bitcoin. The rest are mostly from signatures.
1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: how to invest into Bitcoin on: March 17, 2015, 02:40:37 PM
Buying and hoarding is one thing but indirectly a person could also invest in start ups that is based on bitcoin for example those in payment processing business, mining or even those into selling hardware wallet. And lately there has been talks about the twins etf although there hasn't been much news about it lately.
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: Two weeks until the 14 millionth coin is mined on: March 17, 2015, 02:29:37 PM
Well I would say most people would not even realize about it. and that's me included. Hence I don't expect it to have the slightest impact on price even after having used to see the number 13,XXX,XXX appearing for so long. What is more profound is when it is closer to the halving date and new threads are being posted in forum, cryptocoins news site started posting about it, and that will it make a difference.
1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: Trading with low amounts? Does it make sense? on: March 17, 2015, 02:22:07 PM
It probably won't make much difference if you are trading in small amounts but however, if there is a high volatility, you can actually make a nice profit from the swing probably up to 3 - 4 rounds in just a day. Also sometimes, there is special scenario like for example newly launched coins whereby you can expect like almost a 50% movement in one single day.
1007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's vote for a new universal logo for all cryptocurrencies on: March 17, 2015, 02:15:52 PM
Just why do we need that? I mean by having a universal logo that represents all cryptos, It will probably give the wrong impression that bitcoin is similar to the rest of the alts. And that is especially when some of the altcoins are just pure junk. I certainly don't want *any* crypto to being align or similar in any way to bitcoin. The bitcoin logo is already brandable by itself.
1008  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin to replace cash? Maybe, but let's please first focus on Gold 2.0 on: March 17, 2015, 02:10:40 PM
I would imagine bitcoin functioning similar like gold and that as a store of value. But however, before I go further, one might argue that buying at 1200 and now the price at less than 300 might not necessarily suggest it to be that way. So let's look at the overall picture and that means analyzing long term. For one, there is certainly no limit as to how much fiat can be created in the system but for bitcoin, there is always the fixed capped amount. As long as the demand remains and supply continue to drop, we ought to see the value increases over time.
1009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rakuten Starts Accepting Bitcoin in the US on: March 17, 2015, 01:58:17 PM
It's indeed good news. Best I've heard start of this year. Imagine this scenario, if Rakuten can do it and successfully integrate bitcoin into its own payment system, then why can't ebay or amazon do that same. It opens up a whole new possibility towards better coin adoption and I mean this is really big in terms of the impact.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Virtual currency in real-life strife as Bitcoin suffers bankruptcy blow on: March 17, 2015, 01:51:59 PM
If the so-called non-profit organization suffers bankruptcy then just let it be. I still don't understand after so many years, there are still a lot of people who don't understand what bitcoin is all about and what it aims to achieve. Bitcoin is not supposed to be controlled by anybody nor is it aligned to anybody and that's a fact.
1011  Economy / Economics / Re: Money is an imaginary concept, but humanity is enslaved by it on: March 16, 2015, 11:50:38 AM
It is lucky that we now have bitcoin where the supply no matter what can't be artificially created. I agree with your analogy, every time when fiat get printed, that is generally robbery because banks actually dilute the value of each individual's holding and they don't ask your permission or agreement to do that. And when that happens the same amount of fiat which can buy you that amount of goods will one day require higher amount of fiat to get back the same amount. And that is what we call inflation versus bitcoin's core principle which is deflationary
1012  Economy / Economics / Re: One-world reserve currency inevitable and will enslave all nations? on: March 16, 2015, 10:47:20 AM
One world currency? Look at what has happened with Euro. The thing is that there will never be a consensus when it comes to block of nations adopting a common currency which differ culturally, politically, different economic strength and stance, historical background, foreign policy and the list goes on and on. I don't think that is possible unless bitcoin becomes a reserve currency to backup each nation's currency.
1013  Other / Off-topic / Re: Complete the sentence... "I would sell all my Bitcoins if..." on: March 16, 2015, 10:42:05 AM
I would sell all my Bitcoins if...and only if there is an altcoin which comparably is far more better than bitcoin and solves all the current issue on what bitcoin is facing right now especially the volatility, confirmation time and limit. That is the only reason I will and even if I end up broke without a penny, I still wouldn't sell my bitcoin
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: How would a world with BTC as reserve currency look like? on: March 16, 2015, 08:47:38 AM
- What would need to change for this to happen?
I don't know if that is going to happen in the first place. If it were, maybe the biggest concern is on the security part and how cold storage will work out here. Also Bitcoin needs to have worldwide adoption. People's mindset and perception need to change and not to link bitcoin towards illegal activities.

- What would change once it actually is used for it?
Oh, certainly the price will go up. There will be huge demand.

- What would be the benefits of this?
Bitcoin will be an alternative to gold.

- What would be the downside of this?
Not that I can see.
1015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Australian Govt to sell 24,500 BTC on: March 16, 2015, 08:38:43 AM
What? And I thought there were auctions by the US marshals and so didn't have the slightest idea about this one. Any idea when is this going to happen? I mean based on the price quoted on the article, if the bitcoins get sold above the market price, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about. The only concern is when it is sold below market price.
1016  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is the all-in moment (Sunday March 15, 2015) on: March 16, 2015, 08:13:53 AM
From the MACD plot, there could be a possible drop before things will pick up again and hopefully this time round, we should see a breakout which should happen somewhere late of June. I think that will also coincide with the twin's etf fund launch date which should also be around that time, although they have keeping mum on when it is going to happen. Regardless, anything is still possible and sometimes even the charting figures could still be wrong.
1017  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is the exchange rate so boring now? on: March 16, 2015, 08:05:22 AM
Well, it's certainly not a dead market with the bitcoin price having gone up from 282 to 292 and that happens during the weekend. Probably at this very moment investors are still cautious as to whether the coins from the auction will get dumped to the market. Once this is over, and confidence builds up, more likely we should see all the heavy movement coming along.
1018  Economy / Speculation / Re: If btc -> moon and you no longer need to work, what will you do with your time? on: March 16, 2015, 07:54:39 AM
There are thousands of things in my mind but the first thing which I'll hop on to will be to travel around the world and carry with me my stash of bitcoin for spending. I just want to interact with people around the world, meeting fellow bitcoiners and have a first hand look on how they use the coins for their daily spending.
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the worlds of warcrafts on: March 16, 2015, 07:49:48 AM
I think bitcoin should be considered as part of a trading currency and that doesn't have to confine itself solely into wow alone. What I think is great is having something like a marketplace on what blizzard implemented earlier when you can actually trade diablo 3 items and gold using real currency before they abolished it. That would see high demand and bitcoin getting introduced to gamers
1020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ProTip vs Changetip One of BTC's Killer Community Apps? on: March 16, 2015, 07:43:07 AM
Basically I agree with what stevenh512 say. I don't see one of it intruding into the other business model. Both are certainly into their own niche. If I understand correctly, you use changetip to send small tips if you basically agree with what the users say for instance in facebook, twitter and these are social media related. On the other hand, though I haven't really try using protip but basically it gives a channel for the blog readers to provide tips, more like helping to support development of the blog, so in other words that is just blog related. Both can certainly complement each other well.
