1021  Economy / Speculation / Re: this bull kisses 317 in 48 hrs on: March 15, 2015, 12:24:07 PM
I never believe the price can be accurately predicted when it comes to short term speculation. Judging from the date this thread was created, at least we already know what's the outcome based on today's price. Anyway, I would like to see some serious discussion on some long term prediction coupled with some comprehensive analysis. In a way or another, at least that would be better
1022  Economy / Speculation / Re: What was the starting price of Bitcoin? on: March 15, 2015, 12:15:51 PM
I assume it has to start from zero because practically during that initial stage nobody would know what bitcoin is and since there is very little understanding about how it works, I don't think anybody would actually fork out real cash to pay for it. Furthermore at that time, bitcoin can easily be mined means that even the normal cpu computer can churn out bitcoin for such low computing power put in.
1023  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hopelessly Confused on: March 15, 2015, 11:20:31 AM
Well, don't expect to always get the chance to buy at bargain price. Try to visualize price having gone up multiple times of what it is worth right now and you realize that despite btc price going up, overall it is still considered cheap. And to think that the price is going to drop after the auction is over is probably not the right approach. Always ready yourself to seize the opportunity.
1024  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think: Digitalising fiat currencies on: March 15, 2015, 11:08:09 AM
And revert back to the old system which has deceived us for so long? In any way possible, the idea of bitcoin is to disassociate itself and remain independent from any form of control and that is why the issue of being decentralized is so important and forms the core of what we believes in. I'm not trying to say it's not possible to have it implemented but in any, I really don't see the advantage of doing it.
1025  Economy / Economics / Re: EUR might drop below USD on: March 15, 2015, 11:01:34 AM
Seeing the progress it has made for the past few weeks, I think it is just a matter of time. I can imagine at one point few years ago that it was something like 1.6 at its peak and now it's only 1.08, that's more than 30% drop. Also I don't think quantitative easing will help. Printing more fiat in the name of stimulating the economy and dumping that randomly doesn't mean that it will end up with those people that's badly needs it.
1026  Economy / Economics / Re: Washington’s $210 Trillion Deficit on: March 15, 2015, 10:57:36 AM
It puzzles me a lot on how all these can actually sustain itself for so long without collapsing. I mean there must be an end to it. Trillion is indeed not a small number and imagine for the next few decades to come, it will just blow up to infinity. I'm just wondering if it really happens what are we gonna to do with all the heaps of notes lying around.
1027  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A Community run eCommerce store on: March 15, 2015, 10:46:19 AM
Sounds interesting. Not sure if it can be fully community run because in the end, you still need administrator to take care of the sites even though the script can be left running on its own. Probably something like an ebay concept where it functions just the same like a marketplace for people to do listing and can paid solely in btc. And no fiat please.
1028  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Woke up today and lost all my Bitcoins ! on: March 15, 2015, 10:37:01 AM
That's bad. Sorry to hear your loss. There's nothing you could do right now to recover back the coins as all transactions are irreversible. What you can do is probably to look forward towards the future and take it as a hard lesson learned not to store your bitcoins on a device that can easily be compromised. Offline cold wallet is still the safest option and if you need to spend, just transfer small amount to phone wallet for your daily use.
1029  Economy / Speculation / Re: Recommendation: Open the history books of Bitcoin Talk on: March 15, 2015, 10:16:30 AM
I can't imagine when people were actually talking about the possibility of price hitting $5 per bitcoin. What's more intriguing was a thread I read earlier about a guy who bought tons of bitcoin probably in tens of thousands for few pennies a pop and he was threatening to dump it to the market if the price does not go up. How crazy was that
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gold vs Bitcoin: 1-0. With Gold, you can wipe your ass ;) on: March 15, 2015, 10:11:55 AM
Gold vs Bitcoin: Now it's 2 - 0. When it gets too cold and I run out of firewood, I can just dump it into the fireplace and use it to generate some heat. Whereas with bitcoin it's not possible. The mining equipment doesn't really generate enough heat. So now, can you can see the difference and realize what's the hype all about?
1031  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Business Model of new company 21 Inc predicted by Satoshi? on: March 15, 2015, 09:55:08 AM
I think your idea about a trusted node sounds more plausible that the bitcoin mining job that I heard being thrown around. I think there are several ways, they could profit from there. Offer a fast confirmation more like a service for large transactions or maybe become helps towards the retail service adoption. There are many possibilities.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most interesting news? on: March 15, 2015, 09:45:28 AM
Same as yours. My mind kept on focused about what was going to happen next especially if the buyer managed to win the auction paying for below market price. That will expose to the possibility of price dropping if they decided to sell it off after the deal is sealed. At least now that it's over and the price seen stabilized, I can heave sigh of relief
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you call it the block chain or blockchain on: March 15, 2015, 09:40:38 AM
I didn't realize that Satoshi referred to it as block chain.  Undecided But anyway, since the first day that I got into bitcoin, the only terminology that I understood is "blockchain" and that is also what I saw everybody is using as well. This will stick and last for sometime and I have to admit it will be very difficult to change it. As long as when I saw everybody understood it's the same thing, then I'll continue to use it.
1034  Economy / Speculation / Re: If BTC goes to ten hundred billion dollars on: March 14, 2015, 09:35:00 AM
Not sure whether I should interpret it as good news or bad news. Depends on how you look at it. First of all, if it really goes up to that level where btc is worth hundred of billion of dollars, it could also mean fiat by that time is already useless and that inflation has caused price of everything to increase. So you will a whole stack of notes to get the same amount of btc you could buy today.
1035  Economy / Speculation / Re: What kind of money have people here made trading? on: March 14, 2015, 09:24:57 AM
It all depends. Sometimes you could just trade altcoin buying when it is low and then sell when it goes up and earn back everything in btc. You don't really have to cash out. There are some who took more risk by doing margin trading and speculating on bitcoin future. There's more risk over there but higher gain.
1036  Economy / Speculation / Re: 21Inc $110m+ BTC Price Index over next 2 weeks ~$400? on: March 14, 2015, 09:13:16 AM
There's very little known information about them and especially on what they do. It sounds stealthy to me. The speculation is mainly on developing  consumer related Bitcoin products probably those related to security like wallets and hardware kind of thing. Regardless I hope it will give a boost towards bitcoin price.
1037  Economy / Economics / Re: 3-5% daily decline trend is back on: March 14, 2015, 09:00:03 AM
I looks more like price correction after the rally we have seen going on for the past week. We just have to wait and observe before drawing up conclusion. And talking about the hype concerning price decline after the auction concluded, I think overall, bitcoin is still doing very well. I expect it to stay around the current level for some time before price will again rise.
1038  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this bad or good news? on: March 14, 2015, 08:48:58 AM
I think those familiar in crypto will know what's good and what's bad based on how to differentiate between a true decentralized crypto and another completely centralized. Anyway, what I read about is that the crypto idea was only on IBM's future plan and it doesn't relate to any government involvement thus far.
1039  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IBM Rumored to Be Developing Bitcoin Alternative on: March 13, 2015, 08:03:35 AM
Not another coin with the branding and issuing controlled by a big company. We already have few altcoins in the market right now so what makes this so special. And talk about success and failure we have also seen altcoins come and go. Unless the technology being developed behind it is so creative and special that it solves all bitcoins problem, then probably it's yes.
1040  Economy / Economics / Re: An easy way to make bitcoin worth millions of dollars on: March 13, 2015, 07:59:35 AM
that is why the infrastructure is important. To encourage spending, there must be stores accepting it. Most of the time, when I purchase 1 bitcoin, I will end up hoarding it for some time until I find places or merchants that accept bitcoin. I'm not saying the theory is not workable, in fact it is what happening right now, but instead of spending and the whole process reduces supply in the market, we ended up holding it longer, so the spending cycle is not working.
