1061  Economy / Economics / Re: LET'S TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT BITCOIN (NO TABOOS OR IRRATIONAL DREAMS) on: January 16, 2015, 05:56:59 AM
You're looking at such a narrow field of view that it's impossible to make an informed decision.

Look at the reasons behind the volatility, it's not as simple as "speculators." When mining switched from CPU only to GPU, and then ASIC, it opened up a door for massive ROI in fewer hands. This peaked interest, and encouraged speculation.

Now the mining bubble is collapsing, and mining will become more decentralized again. Unless something else comes along to give a grossly disproportionate hashrate, the market will have no choice but to calm down...

This was more of a Bitcoin "gold rush" than anything, and the type of speculation we witnessed would occur with just about any other asset on the open market when people get that gold rush mentality...

The big problem in my view is the still tech know-how you absoletely need to ave if you want to do anything with bitcoin. Bitcoin needs the killer ap, to which people without tech interest can simply tranfer money to whoever they like, just like a banking app.

What's also a big problem is the so called btc whales, not the investors, but the innovators. They use their Bitcoin for all sorts of twisted things, instead of just investing to get bitcoin to a higher level. It's all about greed, just like the fail of communism, the system is perfect, yet man isn't...
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead) on: January 16, 2015, 05:48:54 AM
I can understand the development part, but then it's the job of the dev team to start a thread about other topics, since we as a community are kept totally in the dark....
1063  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Which kind of attack could be executed if SHA-256 would be broken? on: January 15, 2015, 05:21:20 PM
Since SHA2 hasn't bene broken yet.... I think we're safe Wink Then we can switch to sha512 Grin

Where can I find the website, can't seem to find it through google Smiley Found it! Yet I can't seem to find which 2 versions you mean, you say in the OP you can order both versions, which versions are those?
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: LTCgear.com, the best scrypt/scrypt n/X11 cloud mining service, ROI 2 months on: January 15, 2015, 08:02:51 AM
On 29th/30th we will be fixed. If no payment and always this kind of maintenance fee, it will be definitely over. He is on a monthly hosting contract, and after this date, the website could be go offline if he don't renew hosting contract.

If Ltcgear is coming back and making payouts, I am wondering if our Qasics will still be paying. When you look at other cloudmining companies, they stopped/suspended scrypt mining contracts because they was no more profitable (power consumption vs revenue), and today most of the home miners stop too, because, excepted the knc titan, they are almost no more profitable miner actually...

S5 and SP20's still produce profit with the right power price Smiley
1066  Economy / Economics / Re: Price drop : bitcoinners happy ? on: January 15, 2015, 07:40:51 AM
Merchants selling, miners selling. Bitcoin is still profitable to mine with better-than-average chips and cheap electricity. But the inefficient miners are dropping out, and will continue to.
If miners stop mining difficully drop also ?

Yes if the network hash rate reduces in speed it will drop down by x amount like it did a few times in Dec 2014 last year but soon went back up as more went online. In all honestly BTC mining is end of days now unless you got some serious TH power and free energy. I remember grabbing one of the first Avalon units and making 2 BTC per day with that with 60GH speeds now you need like 35TH to 40TH to even produce 1BTC per day due to the amount of  hashing power that is come online and is currently going on. By mid 2015 people are going to need at least 100TH basic to make anything and the power that is going to be eaten up by that is going to be stupid amounts. I have close to 1TH of power that's sitting collect dust now because it is not worth it to mine based on mining to power use to cost to result. The only time my units come online now is if a new alt coin comes along and I mine it at the beginning and after a few days soon turn off again due to some massive miners all jumping on it.

Then you didn't replace your HW fast enough, SP20 or antmiuners s5 still produce profit, even with this low exchange rate... It's all about power to gh/s ratio. And you''re predictions of 30 ths to produce a fair amount is a bit strong, with 5 th/s you still rake in a decent amount of bitcoin, it's all about expectations Smiley

These calculations are for tactics,
1. mining BTC
2. immediately sell BTC
in such a situation mining is becoming less profitable. If someone does not pay bills from the immediately sale BTC of a long time he not turn off miners, it seems to me

Not only miners are selling inmediately, but basically everyone accepting Bitcoins that is moving legit amounts of money with their business (ie Overstock) are converting at market price inmediately. This is.. well, not good for the price. I wonder if Microsoft are doing the exact same thing.

you're right, it made me wonder just how shops or other institution receiving payments at BTC settle wearing the measures. When investing in the stock market once you earn, once you lose, but exchanging real goods or services for BTC with such fluctuations courses is more hardcore than the russian roulette game.
Everything will not come easy you should wait btc , this is just a bad crash and we will see better price in the next months

I think this is a plan formed by some organizations and governments....
1067  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you capitalize on this? on: January 14, 2015, 08:10:03 PM
I can't stop but think, that this could also be organization or governments selling large quantaties of bitcoin simultaniously. Also due too the steep decline, I think that alot of businesses that accepted btc and held a portion as speculation bailed out too Wink
1068  Economy / Speculation / Re: At what price will you capitalize on this? on: January 14, 2015, 07:01:47 PM
I've decided that if we $100, give or take $10 bucks, I will capitalize on the opportunity and purchase 20 to 30 bitcoins. In the meantime, I'm just holding. What are other people planning on doing or thinking? This would be a GREAT deal and greatly lower my "break even" number.

Hard to say, for me Bitcoin went through the invisible border of no return, but I'm still optimistic. I would only buy ones I see the price go up at a sustained rate Smiley
1069  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: This time the hash rate really took the dip on: January 14, 2015, 07:00:13 PM
Looks like it. The great shakeout has begun. I think when the dust settles we'll have a more stable platform to build Bitcoin up again, but this round of pain became necessary to correct the excesses of the "gold rush" initiated in late 2013.

In different words, but my views exactly. People only in it for the profit, not the concept and the responsibility that comes with it. We're still a long way to adoption, mainly due to the volatility, for that reason, this isn't good...

Come on, man. I see the green light that says you are still online. I know you've seen my challenge. 28 35 40+ minutes later, you're still fiddle-fucking around with mommy trying to get her help with a comeback.

Let's do this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=905643.msg10149724#msg10149724

-much time has passed-

Screw it. You're a mouthy coward and your panties are bunched up too tight. I got things to do. You're on your own. Mutherfuck me all you like. I'm a volunteer rescuer, I didn't create LTCD. A bit of thanks would have been cool. Silence would have been perfectly OK by me. But lies and bullshit aren't fine by me. Piss me off enough and you can stuff your coins up your ass and whistle Dixie.

<gone>

Unbelievable what a strange person you are, yet all this time you put in here, put a fraction of that into communication, and poef all bashing and PM's dissapear, yet you want to remain with you previous statement, which is just simply ridiculous iof you want an active community,,,

I won't contest or contradict your opinion that I am a strange person. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

I only put a few minutes of my time in here on this occasion. Those ENTIRE few minutes WERE put into COMMUNICATION, you moron. No, bashing and PMs won't disappear.

I will continue to stand on my previous statement. Glad to see you noticed that.

Your assertion about what is ridiculous (by your own words) is dependent on the *IF* part of whether I want an active community.... Well, that's an assumption you made and it is definitely flawed. Nowhere have I ever said that I specifically wanted an active community. I have said that I will step in to preserve LTCD so you all didn't lose your entire bag of coins. I have said that my goal is to achieve as many of the features that the community ALREADY SAID they wanted BEFORE the current team existed. I have clearly said that I do not want any more added to the list of features UNTIL the current list has been taken care of as best as can be achieved. It makes no sense for anyone to pile on more work when the previous work from the prior devs was never completed. First things first. Why is that so hard for your brain cell to comprehend?

Don't make any assumptions about what my intentions are. Don't misinterpret my words. Don't put words in my mouth or into my posts. Don't project your masturbatory coin fantasies onto me or my team. What you personally expect and what I provide are quite probably two different things. Get used to the idea.

You simply don't understand that it's not important what YOU want, it's what the community wants..... yeah, 5 minutes.....

I offered a lot man, I offered to translate the website, I offered taking over taking care of the thread with guidelines, yet you want everything in YOUR manner, yet you aren't alone and shouldn't be one person makiing all decisions, that's how crypto's fails, one person means centralization....

Dude you have some serious issues, read your text back, insane assclown talk Smiley

I don't do the Steve Jobs hypish style of management. I don't announce the unforeseeable future.

Nothing has changed since the last update I gave you, so there's nothing new to say.

I do not want every type of discussion in the development thread. It is too common with the scam coins - posting BS 'coming soon' nonsense and letting the P&D trolls scream 'MOON' or cry 'CRASH' to manipulate price by inducing euphoria or panic. I disapprove of pumping and I disapprove of dumping. Artificially driving price is theft by fraud. A natural market price based on people making their own decision to buy or sell without any influence from others is the best way to avoid ANYONE scamming or getting scammed. However, I am a free speech type of person. People can speak freely in some other topic. Doing so will be almost useless because nobody except the scammers will go to those topics. I will not have the dev topic be perverted in favor of the crooks.

The reason I am getting bombarded is because I won't let the scammers do their dance in the dev topic, so they bribe, extort and threaten via PM.

As far as the emails I'm waiting for - I'm still waiting. So, really there's nothing worth telling about. Unless you think 'NOTHING' is worth telling.

The dev does not have a responsibility to provide info regarding what's going on WHEN NOTHING IS GOING ON. Genuine coin devs don't report NOTHING. Only the shit coins have devs that act like twitter-freak PR bitches. Those devs pump and dump their own coin and run off with premines as well as community members' coins when it all goes south. You won't see me acting like that.

Everyone who is invested had already done so long before my time came. LTCD was originally created as a clone pump and dump. When the main team was on the edge of abandoning everyone, myself and a few others came forward to try and keep LTCD alive and get it moving forward. There never was any Gen 2, it turns out. Everything prior to November 24 was all lies.

Fixing this is going to take a while. So strap in or bail out. There is no way to successfully rush this. It has to be redone from scratch. Completely from ground zero.

There will be nothing major to share for a while. The name "LiteCoinDark" has to be abandoned. It was a poor choice from the beginning. Just an attempt to ride on somebody else's name. That somebody else "Litecoin" is going to hell in a handbasket and it has already caused a serious problem.

LTCD was never 'very promising'. It just seemed that way because the lies were plausible combined with greed and hope of the buyers in an alt-coin frenzy. Don't believe me? Pull the source code directly from Robbert's github and have it looked at by somebody you trust. There is nothing special about it. I've had code reviewers looking at it since Nov 28, and they say it is a shit clone. I looked at it, and I say it is a shit clone. It was a sham and a scam. I'm hoping to fix that.

In all 100% honesty, alt-coins are dead and simply haven't been buried yet because people are clutching too tightly to a lost cause. Gen 2 is the only way to survive and it must include usability. Not just market trading and dice sites. Retail acceptance is absolutely necessary for survival. In order to have any chance at retail acceptance, LTCD needs a name change and a complete rewrite to make it Gen 2 that is secure and has features everyone WILL use. Not obscure shit that only 1% or less would even understand.

The PR man for this coin has been busy with college exams and an unrelated project that existed prior to his involvement with LTCD. That's why you haven't seen any flowery Shakespearian announcements. I know people like pretty tweets and pretty fluff-posts, but that's not my bag. When the PR guy can get himself clear of prior obligations, he can post 'Two Bee oar Knot Two Bee' crapola all over the topic. Girls will get wet and dudes will get stiffies.

Or, if I continue having problems getting a solid TEAM of coders to begin fresh on Gen 2, I'll hand it all back to Robbert and let him finish raping everyone.

Truly, I'm being 100% hones with you - you won't be getting any hype from me. Nobody is going to convince me to make a community post about anything until *I* feel that there is something solid and finished in my hand to post about. I'm not mentioning any TEAM until I have the TEAM selected and under contract. I'm not posting any advance info about features. Feature updates will be posted after they've been implemented and known to be working.

PoS, for instance. I'm not even going to guess at a date when it will be available. PoS will be working and implemented in test wallets and ACTIVE on the blockchain first, then I'll tell everyone to update their wallets. Instant success, by that method, and no reason for anyone to be repeatedly disappointed.

Yes, my style is different. I'm not interested in screwing anyone out of their lunch money. I'm not interested in fame or popularity. I'm interested in results, if they can be had. I'm interested in talking about the job when the job is finished, not before it is done. Odd, I know.

I want this coin to be one of the 10 survivors from the alt-scam scene. So, this coin has to be different and the leadership has to behave different than the others have been.

My best advice to you, because you seem to want fast results that won't be coming, is to sell off now and buy bitcoin or hold fiat. Check back in 3 to 6 months.

I understand that most people are sheep and they WANT to be mislead. They prefer empty dreams and false hope, instead of reality. Reality sucks and it's no fun.

I understand that it is much easier for manipulators to pull off their cons and scams when they can post in the dev topics where all the victims will be hanging out. Much harder for them to pull their shit off when they have to make their own topics that almost nobody will visit.

That's why the dev thread is only for news about what is DONE. Not about what is coming or what anyone thinks about it.

I don't want there to be a lot to read. I want it to be bare bones minimum, so important information and details don't end up getting buried under bullshit.

As far as "Everything there is to know about the coin" - That won't include discussion about price, hype, FUD, trolling, etc. Anybody who wants that shit can use the search function and find whatever topic might exist for that kind of stuff.

That won't change. Crap will not be acceptable in the dev topic ever. No need to suggest it or discuss it. My decision is firm, in that regard. The only info in the dev topic will be official announcements and specific discussion relating exclusively to the technical issues AFTER they exist and each one is complete (no pre-announcements and no cheerleading). All business. No jerking around and nobody getting jerked around.

Quote from: Furio on 12 January 2015, 21:55:25
BTW, can't you understand it somewhere that most people find it much easier and more convenient to get all their info via one thread, yeah it's a lot to read, but the real interested see EVERYTHING there is to know about the coin

At any rate; since most mining is in China and most BTC trading is there too in an environment that is corrupt to the bone - chances are excellent that a Cartel has been systematically milking this thing. Just look at the charts I posted.

China corrupt to the bone... It still baffles me that people point to other countries but the West. The whole world is corrupt to the bone, Kapitalism = corruption and feeds inequality. The west is responsible for the killing, destroying and raping of this planet for over centuries now..... And yes, I live in the West, but I'm not blinded by Western propaganda. The most corrupt system is made up by the West....

and the least corrupt country in the world is... denmark...

According to a study, funded by the west and it's most intrusive countries....

1079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] Guldencoin.com/download — 1.3.1(DIGISHIELD) now available MANDATORY UPDATE! on: January 13, 2015, 07:38:39 AM
With the active communiry Guldencoin has, could this community be the one that designs THE killer app, which makes it easy and most of all safe to use cryptocurrency. I think in that aspect much can be learned by looking at banking apps. But in order to make it THAT easy, semi anonimity true addresses isn't possible, because for main stream non tech interested adoption, in my view,  adresses need to be registered to names, for those wanting easy to use, in stead of the crypto anonomity we are custom to.

The real challenge is in developing a system capable of evenly distibuting a fair amount of guldencoins, registering in a safe system and rewarding that, so people can add eachother to social media and really get the ball rolling. That way people can pay eachother, companies can register etc. I think something like that is needed to get non interested people in Smiley free money is free money at first Wink

I agree.

A killer app for me would be something that makes transferring NLG between mobile devices REALLY easy, easier then scanning a QR-code. Something with NFC?

I think the betting game for the Euopean Championship was really good. The idea behind it could maybe be turned into an app; an app that facilitates these kind of betting games. People can design their own bet, the participants buy NLG at the start of the game and play, at the end the winners can change back to fiat (if they want).

Other ideas for apps must use the ease, speed and ultralow cost of transactions. How about (just brainstorming here) to elaborate on the idea of Furio: a 'fair Ponzi'? Get paid in NLG if you get someone else interested in NLG and so on. Could be run on Facebook.

Your last sentence uis exactly what I mean, added bonusses of REAL value, to get people interested in crypto. You have to create desire, and because 0's and 1's arent sexy, we need money to draw them in Smiley

The lower the price of bitcoin the more hashrate they throw at it. Itīs really insane.

at the moment the hashrate is dropping.. from 310 PH to 291 PH and my guess is it will keep falling because btc needs to find its natural plateu after the mtgox pump in december 2013... before it will climb up again... loosing alot of mining operations in the process..

But isnt increased diff. being predicted ?

Yeah becasue of the decreasu caused by alot of miners who switched to XPY for a while. So the increase first, then another firm decrease Smiley
