1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Technically was a Success but Greed Is Killing It on: January 11, 2015, 09:22:01 AM
Greed has always been a weak factor in humanity, look at communism, in itself a perfect system, yet man is not perfect...

Where can I find the video guys?

Video can be found here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRfMifiyukw

I don't know Dutch, so I can't comment on what is said in the video, but the video goes through the whole process of creating the wallet, attaching it with the hologram, and checking the balance.  All in all it's exactly what I needed, so I've confirmed with Meije that the bounty is his.  Like a true gentleman, he has declined the bounty.  I told him I would put the 100k NLG towards the dev fund donation I was going to make, in his name.  I will be contacting the devs to let them know.

Last shipment update:

The coins that are still in transit, including the dev coins, that everyone has been waiting for cleared customs yesterday at 5:30pm, I believe local NL time.  They should be getting to LTEX in the next couple days.

Additionally, I will be shipping the remaining coins out sometime this week, en masse.  I have discussed it with LTEX, and we both agree it will be easier to distribute coins in a faster manner if we cut out the travel time from the US to NL.

I'll make a post when the package is shipped.

Thanks a lot, a bit long, because he explains also the basics on crypto and addresses and such, but a nice video, thx!!
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead) on: January 11, 2015, 08:03:04 AM
I must say there is something wrong with this picture. If I have invested large sum of BTC into LTCD and with over time, it began to deteriorated to the point where the value becomes nearly 0, why somebody protested against it. There are complete silence. Something doesn't add up

I sold off most of my stash, while it still holds some value, only remains 50.000 ltcd. Made a loss of 3,5 btc. I think the dev team is slowly selling of all remaining ltcd, because this simply is just taking to long. Vicvelcro was waiting on emails from the others, that's what he said to me on the 3th.....

It's still a shame, the coin had some potential, community and tech wise with the first dev team....

Not sure if you guys know, but Chris (Beekeeper) got in touch a couple of days ago with the mod at litecointalk.
Basically, the DDOS attacks didn't stop. Fake shares were added to accounts and thus now accounts should be bought. All fake accounts will be closed once and if the site resumes.
The fact that he made contact shows he's not trying to run.
But still, only time will tell.

Not that I do not believe you, because I want to believe you, but who is the source of this information?

Stopping people buying (and so stopping people selling) accounts is a good thing if Chris is getting things sorted out. Chris already tried to do this by preventing the trading of shares, so there is a pattern to the advice, which is promising.

What I don't understand is if it's really true that his websites gets pounded all day long, why would he want to make it even more attrictive by adding balances for us to withdraw, which means the website must have acces to coins....

Hi fuse,
I just made a video, a friend of mine is now editing it for me. In the video i have printed the QR code and placed it under the hologram sticker, afterwards i showed people how to access the address... when the video is finished, i will send it to you so that you can judge if it is good enough!.

Meije

My man!

If everything looks good, it's your choice on reward.  Funds can be sent tonight when I get home, or I can put coins in the mail with the next shipment, which will most likely the one big shipment to LTEX with the rest of the coins.  Just shoot me a PM with the video link when you're done, and let me know what you want as the bounty.

1110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: (Unofficial) Litecoindark Thread (LTCD Dead) on: January 09, 2015, 10:50:16 AM
Hey Fellow LitecoinDark Supporters,

Has everybody seen the post of vicvelcro, please transfer your LTCD to your own wallet, just to be safe. I do think that this is a indirect result of the slowly dying community of LTCD.
If any of the old DEV team wants to share their views, please do, you listened to the community and the community listened to you.

I started OUR own thread, since we aren't "allowed" to post about LTCD in the official thread. Are there still holders and believers, eventhough we're being forced to watch without giving any feedback or any ideas or insights. My believe is that a community should allways be able to post info or questions, not to be moderated slowly to silence....

In my view, this long silence is killing in the world of crypto, alot of holders allready dumped since they lost faith. Also this doesn't help in finding capable coders and pro's to help with the development. For example the DEV of DogecoinDark offered to help, the guy singlehandedly build anonymous encyption and tech into DogecoinDark, yet no-one replied him...

Maybe I'm naive but I still believe in the concept, Litecoindark next to Bitcoindark or Darkcoin. The community is one of the biggest succesfactors in crypto, and I feel like our community is slowly getting killed by non-communication and lack of progress. I do respect the new devs and expect their intentions are right, yet they do nothing to show is anything about their way of work. I hope they realize that all their work will be for nothing if there isn't an active community....

Anyone with anything on there mind, please leave a post explaining what you want to see or what your views/opinions are. Please don't post just to spread FUD, be constructive Smiley

Any members of the old dev team wishing to express their views?
Any ideas
Any new acceptants
Views on the coin, views on the dev team
Course of directions
Just to let everybody know you're still a supporter!?

Please post away and show this community is still alive and wanting to support their coin!!!

Sorry to say but LiteCoinDark is really no different than a Coingen clone. I have much issues with POW only Coins and I have said on many occasions that POW only will always drive the value to zero. The problem with all Coins is that no one wants to be active in actually doing any development, everyone wants to wait for someone else to do the work. In the case of LTCD, no one wanted to do the work and some kid with no clue decided he wanted to be leader. In the timespan of on month he caused his two video promotion guys to leave plus atleast another dozen people or so in the moderated thread, basically everyone is LTCD was scammed by incompetence.

What do you do now?

I suppose you could go the Clam route and get a new Coin made in which all the addresses of LTCD are hardcoded into the first Block for redemption but that requires a lot of work on top of designing a new Coin. Even if you DID get Proof of Stake sorted out, and you could show you can actually code, it's still very unlikely you would get any coding help whatsoever.

I actually built a Proof of Stake only Coin, and in like 2 weeks I added in adaptive rewards, IRC chat, statistics, block explorer, use of minimal coinage and still everyones just like "meh". It's really depressing Sad

Personally I don't think it's worth saving LiteCoinDark.

Even people who offered to help get turned down, I just don't get why a dev would be so arrogant... the community IS the coin, not the dev.....
1111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: S-5 review. It has arrived some info is in! on: January 09, 2015, 09:44:08 AM
Thanks for the discussion on Power Supplies, and the Newegg link. My only comment is that it might be worth considering a larger more capable supply, in anticipation a future mining device. It seems that many folks purchased a "way over the top" PSU in the past, and just continue to use it when they upgrade to a newer mining device. It looks now like the PSU is the "long term" part of mining, while the specific ASIC gadget has a much shorter "life span" in terms of how long it stay connected to your purchased PSU.

Thanks again.

I have a small collection of Corsair CX500s that I got for dirt cheap collectively as I've mentioned on my last post on the prior page that have continuously been powering a variety of miners since the BFL days and none of them have failed yet.  I still have a few spare left and I intend to use them to power S5 miners (one for each hashing board) if and when I do get them.  Even if an extremely OC'd S5 draws 700WAC at the wall, that would still give each CX500 a very comfy headroom of about 35%.  Since I already have them, there's no point in investing in pricey overkill PSUs considering the low BTC price coupled with overpriced miners.  I think the ultimate goal is still and has always been to achieve ROI as soon as possible.

Would you mind selling one?

For the record, I'm strong supporter of LTCD from the begining but I feel people voice has been silenced by new litecoindark dev. for some reason and I just feel that there should be open end discussion about the coin whether you have a positive or negative view of the coin.

So far, nothing has been developed or made any new improvement.

I made an thread too, looks like their purpusely dying out the community.. it's a shame...
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Criptoe.Com Physical Coin thread on: January 09, 2015, 06:57:05 AM
So I really want to apologize for my extreme procrastination on the hologram video.  I know I said I would get it done, but I've been swamped with life right now.  Between the baby, the whole family being sick now, the crypto project I'm currently running behind on, and numerous projects at work... I have just not been able to get to it.  I just can't find the time in the day.  In fact, I'm writing this as I'm in the middle of cooking dinner right now.

That being said, the one thing I have more than time right now is NLG.  So...

I am offering your choice of either 100,000NLG or 3 physical Criptoe Series 1 coins(consecutive numbers of my chosing) as a bounty for anyone that can make a short, decent looking DIY video for the whole coin loading process.

The video must contain the following 3 crucial pieces of information:

  • Creating the wallet key pair using either an online paper wallet creation program, or the a coin wallet, and printing the paper wallet.
  • Attaching the paper wallet to the physical coin using the hologram sticker.
  • Loading the wallet and checking it's balance.
  • Bonus: If you can do the video voice-over in Dutch and subtitle it in English, I'll include an added bounty.

If you're interested in doing this video, PM me and let me know how long it will take.  Obviously, the sooner the better.  It doesn't need to be an IMAX cinema experience, but please no shaky cell phone videos either.

Cheers,

Fuse

Have no video skills, but a good Dutch voice Wink, was wondering where Coin #85 is at. Should be arriving soon Smiley. I just can't seem to get the QR-code small enough to fit in the coin. Also the folding of the private key is a bit difficult, it gets thicker then the ingraving, so I have a little bump on my coin, so still strugling Smiley
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched! on: January 09, 2015, 06:54:25 AM
Litecoin needs to bring sexy back!

It's faster and therefore more convenient to use than BTC. Period.

LTC has proven to be a trustworthy, non-hyped alternative to Bitcoin and with it's HUGE jump on all other competitors it will continue to hold the #2 position to BTC.

What can be done to improve it's visibility? To ensure LTC keeps it's #2 position.

LiteVault is a very welcome recent development. Hopefully the operators will create a GUI similar to Coinbase or Blockchain.info that touts all of the security advantages it offers compared to it's competition (coinkite). And PR's the hell out of it!

Litecoin SHOULD BE accepted at EVERY merchant currently accepting Bitcoin (online as well as brick and mortar). It is liquid (#1 requirement for merchant acceptance). Most people aren't buying houses or even cars with crypto - at least for now. Litecoin can handle "smaller" purchases (up to $10,000 USD) without a problem.

Litecoin SHOULD BE VIEWED as the hipper, faster, younger brother of Bitcoin. Cool designs/logos need to be created and marketed by someone. Hats, shirts, stickers, etc.

Litecoin (and Bitcoin for that matter) should be HEAVILY marketed to the legal marijuana market in Colorado, Washington, California, etc (dispensary owners, growers, edibile mfr's, etc). These businesses have absolutely NO ACCESS to banks. Most (if not all!) operate CASH ONLY. This multi-BILLION DOLLAR MARKET is an IDEAL target for Litecoin to penetrate. Again, not POT or another hyped up clone of Litecoin. LTC has LIQUIDITY!

Now back to sexy. Litecoin needs to be the Miami of cryptocurrency. It needs a flavor - tasteful but sexy! Rather than post about day-to-day price fluctuations or nauseating penny stock scare tactics, this community needs to take individual actions to bring the sexy back.

That's my 2 cents, anyways.

I totally agree, the biggest argument against ltc is that it's now exactly the same as bitcoin regarding to the asic armswar. But stilll, the network of ltc needs far less elektricity then btc

Edit: Of een kroonsteentje...
