I ran twelve machines at 8.5 hashespermin each last night for about 4-5 hours (32 cores per machine, 384 cores total), not a single block Sad

I am giving up on this one

You need a lot of luck until a pool comes around. But someone needs to code a CPU miner first.

Yeah, I realize alot of luck is required -- I just figured with that kindof CPU power I would be having alot more luck Smiley

I believe strongly of investing in precious metals.

I am also a strong believer that purchasing them online through anyone other than a well-established, reputable vendor is a horrible idea.  In my opinion, the best place to buy PM's is your local coin shop.

Good luck in obtaining your goods, hope you don't end up getting screwed.

so i just downloaded a primecoin wallet, its taking a long time to sync with the network (says its 22 weeks behind) but when it comes up, any suggestions for a mining process i should start with??

also thanks to who ever put that little bit into my bitcoin account, made my day.  Smiley

I have mined with PrimeCoin (XPM) quite a bit.  It is pretty much impossible to solo mine now, so you'll need to join a pool.

My favorite pool is http://www.ypool.net  After signing up and logging in, visit the "How to" section to learn everything you need.

Don't expect much from your laptop.  I am still running one pretty high-end server on PrimeCoin (24 cores) and I'm only getting *maybe* 1 XPM per day.
1065  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is the trick to get rich to mine a coin with low difficulty and hope it blows up on: December 16, 2013, 07:44:34 AM
Huh??

I have no so great hardware, is the best chance to get rich to mine a coin with low difficulty, get lots of coins and hope that coin manages to make it big in the future???

I've also heard the term pump and dump which I think means get in low difficulty, coin spikes, dump it at spike for more valuable coin???

I have to keep signing up to different pools for each coin though which is time consuming

Anyone have any other tips?

Well, I'm not sure if that's the BEST way, but certainly the way I'm going about it now.

Started mining SXC (SexCoin) mid-November with a crummy 7kh/s NVidia card, finally got a new one the day after Thanksgiving now running at ~600Kh/s

In four days I mined about 12,000 SXC - they were worth far less than a penny at the time, now the coin is up to about $0.05 USD.  Nice to have ~$600 of SXC on hand but man . . . only if I had started a few weeks sooner, I would have 20x as much!!
