All the alts are in a slump right now as BTC is rising.  As BTC makes another pullback (likely in the next day or so) we should see a rise again.

The MEOW/BTC pair should stay on CoinedUp for at least a few more days.  There is almost 1BTC of buy orders in at 1 satoshi now, it is in much better shape than TIPS, DIME and others that were removed for much lower volume.

Thanks for the update, Lonestar.  Looking forward to helping out any way I can.

Ok I got this from a trusted source at Cryptsy, Meow will be listed there tomorrow. With the bigger volume of trade at Cryptsy the initial price would start somewhere very close to the price of a Doge. That should bring us back from the price the dumpers set at coinedup, pretty sure those dumpers will follow soon to Cryptsy too, but with the volume that takes place at Cryptsy they will not affect the price so much like they did on coinedup. I will buy some Meows at coinedup today for 1 satooshi, so if you want to sell at that price please PM me today

Horseshit.

Now is a bad time to be listed at Cryptsy anyway, we need another few days to get marketing going first

jeff you don't need donations, youve been scamming people for meow

If anyone wants to donate to the faucet it's        KFAP21CU6NHYKuRPT8GY1MRgNeAsMKAah7

+1

Jeff has scammed quite a few ppl out of MEOWs in the past week.

I have no idea how people like him aren't permabanned (not that they couldn't make a new account, but the annoyance of posting in the noob section only is at least some sort of barrier for a time)

If you have had a bad experience with Jeff6475 you should use the Trust link below his username in the post above and give him a bad rating.  That way others know not to deal with him.

I will try to get a Facebook Kittehcoin page up in the morning, unless there are objections.

Could anyone share working list of nodes to add?

Thanks

Official peers list is also in the wiki:

What requirements need to get on the normal big exchange??because coinedUp is fool shit!!

Getting on any other exchanges at this point would be premature . . . we need to get a marketing campaign rolling first

Dammit, woke up this morning and saw the MEOW/DOGE pair on coinedUp

Sons of bitches . . . I hate that they paired MEOW with such a worthless coin like DOGE.  I know BTC was trading low but they could have made a MEOW/LTC instead

Danosphere, donated 100k

I, too, have spoken with Lonestar108 via PM and there is a plan for going forward.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10 BTC Idea on: January 04, 2014, 12:13:02 AM
This kindof goes against open-sourciness and community-driven aspect of Bitcoin and all other coins in general.

Bitcoin is highly unlikely to go through any development changes other than pretty serious bugfixes.  There's just too many nodes out there to make this happen.

No one is going to give you 10BTC for an idea.  If you're that confident your idea is so great, pick a coin to implement it on, contact the dev team and pitch it to them.  Invest heavily in this coin before implementation and you'll easily make your 10BTC.

Catcoin is going through a hard fork this weekend, might be the perfect time to approach them.

I dont see the relevancy of your bitcoin statement. No would invest in an idea to market bitcoin. Furthermore the bitcoin client had a new release last month. So last month it was possible, now its not? The bitcoin devs may opt to include this solution, or may not, to be honest I really dont care.

Please see my other responses in this thread for your other points which have been brought up a couple times.

Advertise catcoin somewhere else please.

Despite the above, which is entirely relevent, you are basically asking someone to give you over $8,000 because you have an idea that will "change the world of bitcoin."

Do you have some credentials?  Are you a programmer?  Do you truly understand the inner workings of crypto-currency, the math behind it, how the blockchain works?  How do we know your idea is even possible?  How do we know it's not something stupid or obvious like "My idea is to make Amazon accept Bitcoin?"

I have an idea with tremendous potential.  It will provide a solution to a problem that affects easily 50% of the entire world population.

It has tremendous PR value.  I guarantee you the media outlets will be fighting over this.
It is an ingenious and elegant solution to a problem all men face and results in a win-win situation for all parties involved
The problem it solves is one that prevents all men from living happier, healthier lives

The idea is:  Make semen taste like chocolate.

You owe me 10BTC

Personally... i am fine with not getting on an exchange right now... difficulty is low so am stocking up on meows..

Also the wallet hasn't been updated yet, right? so i wouldn't suggest we try an exchange till that's settled..and that likely wont be settled till we get the LOGO contest down..

I would however advice a Viral Campaign immediately after the wallet update.. on the par of and beyond doge.. a viral campaign with a reefer smoking cat will fail.. doge was cute.. so it pretty much was accessible to everyone and anyone..

You got the right idea here. We are trying to circle the wagons on kittehcoin, looking for more devs to help out; get the wallets aligned branding-wise, update the website and wiki, and then do a campaign. If you want to help out (if anyone who wants to help out) please PM me! Kitteh will be better than ever if we spread the workload, and there will be more ideas on how to make it awesome! I'm willing to handle the OSX wallet maintenance, wiki maintenance, and some website work as well. We need people to help with windows wallets, another web guy for when I'm busy on OSX wallets, and someone who is good with marketing.

IMO to make Kitteh fly these are "next steps":
1. Determine final MEOW logo- Monday 1/7 via a poll https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=394978.0
2. Update all wallets with new logo in ALL places, update wiki with logo, update website with logo (this should be quick)
3. Update wiki with info on where to get wallets, what exchanges MEOW is on and what sites support MEOW (also pretty quick)
4. Update website
5. (optional) setup MEOW forums, seems beneficial, MERGE /r/kittehcoin and /r/kittehcoinmeow and brand the subreddits correctly
6. Marketing / Viral Campaign

What do you guys think of that? I think we are a week or two away from #6 at which point the price should increase nicely. Please PM me or Lonestar108 if you want to help with any of this, everyone who helps out will be credited as part of the dev team! Kitteh is too big for just one person!

Thanks for the update, Dano.  Any word from Lonestar108?  How is he doing?

Just noticed net hash has dropped significantly from highs earlier today - back down to 349MH, almost back to pre-CoinedUp levels.

Not sure why - this coin is still quite profitable trading at current prices
894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice on case for new mining rig on: January 03, 2014, 11:54:26 PM
How many khash/s do you expect do you expect to get out of this rig? What is your budget?

Budget is roughly $2,000 - hopefully a little less.  Cards are already bought and cost ~$1,300, I figure I can put together the rest for well under $700.

I expect the 4x 7950's should run about 2.1-2.4Mhash

At least make the price higher to discourage all the crapcoins

someone selling 1.5 btc of meows at 10 satosh atm

Where do you trade coins for "satoshi"? I've seen this in many places but I don't understand what the hell a satoshi is supposed to represent value-wise?
1 satoshi = 1/10^8 BTC

Or, for those not mathematically inclined, 0.00000001 BTC.  One Satoshi is the smallest possible fraction of BTC (8 decimal places)
898  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Advice on case for new mining rig on: January 03, 2014, 11:21:55 PM
If you don't mind me asking, what are the full specs on the rig you are building and what do you plan to mine?

I haven't decided entirely on the mobo yet, but will be something with 4-5 PCIe slots, probably Gigabyte AMD FM2

1200W Cooler Master Silent Pro PSU

Probably 8GB Ram, whatever CPU I can get a decent price on, and I'll use a 250GB 7200rpm HDD I have sitting here in my office.  It will run Win7 x64

It will be used pretty much exclusively for altcoin mining.  Will probably spend most of its time on Middlecoin.com when I'm not "speculative mining" on some newly released coin that looks promising.

I really wish more people would take the time to read the PoS whitepaper...

There is no magic... stake is a reward for participating in the network...

The point of stake is for users to hold coins and have the client open a lot more often than a normal PoW coin would. The object is to stave off 51% attackers because so many people have valid nodes working by keeping their wallets online.

To encourage this, PoS will take a block of coins in the wallet that has met a certain time criteria, and will ATTEMPT to use the CPU to MINT a PROOF OF STAKE BLOCK... this is a valid block in the chain... just like a normal PoW block. PoS blocks can contain and confirm transactions just like a normally mined PoW block, and thus must also meet the same criteria as a PoW block, as in it must be accepted by the blockchain and all the other peers... it is possible to have a PoS block orphaned because another block was generated at the same time by another user.

The whole idea was created for PPC so that one day... no hardware would ever need to be used to mine blocks when the final PoW block is minted... a more energy efficient chain can be maintained and transactions verified just by users keeping their wallets alive and PoS blocks minting. That is why there is even a separate difficulty associated with PoS minting compared to PoW minting.

So yes, all you need to do is transfer your coins to your wallet and wait... keep it open or open it back up on day 7-8 and let it stay on line. Later, you will see blocks show up and will credit you stake coins.

Thanks for the explanation.  I (mostly) understand the concept of PoS just wasn't completely understanding the criteria to obtain a PoS reward.

I'm open to a mid-tower chassis as well, they are typically 19" tall and fit quite nicely in a standard 19" cabinet laid sideways.  Surely there is a mid-tower chassis I can fit 4 GPU's into?  If I need to hack up the innards a little bit I'm OK with that.
