It's cold and snowy here in Austria. I need something to cheer me up a lil bit.

So BFL guys - can you please tell me another fairy tale? Like this one:
Question: "But can BFL  maybe explain what exactly has caused the delay of a month?"
BFL-Engineer: "Board design and the chinese unusually long holidays caused the initial delay."

Wow,you figured that out,no chips,no work on turkey day..............absolutely genius  Cheesy

At least more genius than the people at BFL - because they didn't seem to know that Wink

Possibly because they were to busy playing Minecraft ...
1083  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: November 29, 2012, 08:31:54 AM
Oh, hey... since Tom is transparent, can you tell me how much power the bASIC is going to use?  No?  What about ... yadda yadda yadda ...

Always the same Inaba, always the same: "BFL sucks, but hey, Tom/Avalon/etc. suck more ...".
Very good Mr. BFL spokesperson, very good. Not.
1084  Economy / Speculation / Bets of Bitcoin - bet deadline changed subsequently on: November 29, 2012, 12:39:37 AM
I just noticed that they changed the bet deadline on "Bets of Bitcoin" for this bet: "BFL will NOT ship any ASIC products before December 1st 2012" from 30th November to 26th November. Even after bets have been made on the 27th, 28th and 29th. Those bets are cancelled now.

Strange thing: Once you place a bet it says: "All bets are final.". So it seems they are not so final after all ...

What's going on there?!?!

1085  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs November Update (ASIC Chips are "flawed". Delays.) on: November 29, 2012, 12:13:17 AM
How many iterations do you suppose there have been already?  Do you suppose they were all high-volume "bullet runs", each with its own full-wafer mask set?

This whole "bullet run" story Inaba/BFL_Josh told us stinks. You don't pay shitloads of money to bullet run a full lot (batch) of wafers just to figure out that your design is borked. There are always test wafers and test runs first. I am sure BFL did the same.

You don't do trial and error on full lots (50 wafers) scrapping thousands of chips. That would cost you hundreds of thousands of USD. In each iteration. That's just suicide!

Once your chip is OK (working prototype) you go into mass production.

So this shipment date October November December was a lie from the beginning on!

And now you tell us your Asian fab might be a bit untrustworthy. So you might get scammed because you've chosen some backroom fab. That's suicide No.2!

Question for BFL: Why did you fuck us over on purpose with your updates/PR?
1086  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: November 28, 2012, 11:12:51 PM
As I said: BFL and Public Relations - a delicate subject.

Thanks to Inaba. You rock. Not.
1087  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are the BFL forums in f****** China? on: November 28, 2012, 03:45:48 PM
... they are decent about moderating so that the spammiest of posters get deleted/blocked as much as possible.

Yeah. They only let the cozy asshamsters through (Lab_Rat, BitBoyben, SLok, etc.) Wink

Quote from: Inaba
Contrary to some of the trolls over on Bitcoin Talk, we fully intended to start shipping at the end of October, but with a project as complex as this, ...

Come on dude, all your ASICS do is SHA-256. That's not rocket science.

According to your definition of "complex" we'd still be using Intel-8080 8-bit microprocessors - because everything else is just toooooo complex.

Quote from: Inaba
There was a flaw in the chip that needed to be addressed and it pushed the date out, plain and simple.

And maybe there's a flaw in the next revision of your chip. And in the next. And in the next.
As long as you don't have a working prototype you know shit.

Many people have asked this question ("do you have a working prototype?"). Either they got banned from BFL forums, or you mocked, trolled or lied to them. Very professional Mr. BFL Spokesperson, very professional. Not.

Only a few days ago you have been asked by bitcoindaddy: "Is there any chance that when the 20,000 ASIC's arrive, that they don't work as expected? Has the foundry sent you test chips or run a wafer's worth of chips for you already to test with?".

Your reply was: "There is always a chance of that. With this revision, we don't have a test sample chip right now. The likelyhood of it not working at this point is pretty slim though.".

https://forums.butterflylabs.com/pre-sales-questions/406-any-chance-chips-wont-work.html

At that time you knew for sure that the chips where borked.
1089  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: November 26, 2012, 11:51:15 PM
crap deleted

Instead of spending so much time insulting users - and potential customers - here on the forums, wouldn't it be better to move heaven and earth to get those bloody chips?

Does BFL seriously pay you for trolling here and on the BFL forums???
1090  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are the BFL forums in f****** China? on: November 25, 2012, 06:13:52 PM
It's not about fries or asics and do or don't they exist. It's about trolls crying the same mantra several times a day. Making numerous accounts with fake complaints just because they are dedicated to bash bfl at every occasion. Like Frizz23 aka bitsnpieces aka a lot more, making up orders to cancel, just fucking things up. If bfl has no asic because they have not proved to have an asic, bctfpga has no asic too, and the pictures of avalon's production line just show some people standing next to some machinery, without any trace of relation to avalon, so they don't have an asic too. Whoopy, everybody go get your money back! I might get some places in the first batches!

Why are you such a BFL asshamster? Seriously man - I don't get it. I assume they don't pay you - so why do you do this for free?
1091  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL to not match competitors products not shipped on: November 25, 2012, 08:22:49 AM
If BFL is offering a lifetime warranty on their units (I believe they are?) then they would be foolish to jeopardize the longevity of their hardware ...

From Wikipedia:
"A lifetime warranty is usually a guarantee on the lifetime of the product on the market rather than the lifetime of the consumer (the exact meaning should be defined in the actual warranty documentation). If a product has been discontinued and is no longer available, the warranty may last a limited period longer."

As with many things in the marketing jargon, they might turn out different from what you'd expect ...
1092  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL to not match competitors products not shipped on: November 24, 2012, 11:04:52 PM

It's not uncommon for a product (of nearly any type) to run well below peak performance for extended lifespan ...

But this is the race for GHash my friend. I doubt that anyone (BFL, Tom, Avalon, ...) care that much about things like lifespan ...
1093  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL to not match competitors products not shipped on: November 24, 2012, 10:51:46 PM
Here's the rub.  Based on BFL's statements the current Single 60 GH/s offering has ASIC chips at 50-60% of their claimed maximum clock rate.

You seriously believe that? Why would BMW sell cars that only use 50% of their engine power? Why would Intel sell CPU's that run at 1,3GHz instead of 2,3GHz?

IBM used to sell computers with the maximum hardware configuration, but with processors, memory, etc. disabled to varying degrees according to how much money you were paying them. If you needed more power, you called them up, paid whatever amount, and they sent someone around to enable more of the hardware that was already in the machine.

I know. And AMD/ATI disables cores to make a 7950 from a 7970. etc.

But a BFL Single is a BFL single. There is no Single 56, Single 58 or Single 60.

I can't wait till new year to remind you all that you still have no asics.

On the forums: Apparently not in China since they are down NOW, and redirect to 1&1 Internet via an affiliate link. Just a remainder of their "professionalism". LOL

Ahm ... what's your ISP? Let me guess: 1&1? Wink

Because BFL is hosted by Joe's Datacenter: http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip/96.43.135.163

I believe it is possible due them using such a smaller process size. Possible, maybe unlikely.. but we'll have to wait and see.

Which process size does BFL use?

Re. bASIC 33% hashrate increase: BFL_Josh wrote: "... We will not compromise our shipping timeline to respond to questionable news from the bASIC camp. Maybe Tom can pull the magic out and make it happen, but man that would be some good voodoo. That said, our shipping timeline is the single most important driving factor right now ..."

Real-life satire at its best. LOL.

BFL shipping in
October (for sure!)
November (for sure!)
December (maybe?)

What he really wanted to say: "... our shipping timeline is the biggest joke ever" Wink
1098  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are the BFL forums in f****** China? on: November 22, 2012, 07:33:43 PM
What was your order number btw?

My order number: #0800-SUCK-MY-BALLS

What was your order number? Your SSN? Your full address? And your DOB please?

Now hold on Frizzzzzzzzzzzz............you said "you want answers",if Josh shuts up,how the hell are you gonna get answers  Huh Huh Huh Huh

Makes no difference whether he shuts up or not. His indifferent sh*t helps no one. Example: " ... I can't really comment on our internal development process. While it's not a unique methodology, I do not want to give competitors ideas on how we achieve what we achieve going forward.  ... yadda yadda yadda".

I was just searching for shipment updates on BFLs forum, reading this thread here:
https://forums.butterflylabs.com/pre-sales-questions/406-any-chance-chips-wont-work.html

Taking a snapshot, because I sort of assumed that this one would be deleted rather quickly. And I was right. It's gone now.

Which makes me think: Are we in f*cking China?!?! Censorship at it's best ...

Hey SLok & Inaba: eryngi is of course another one of Frizz23 fake accounts, right?
