1001 votes so far. Only 77.6% say Yes, give BFL the scammer tag.
322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Them BFL Cowboys on: August 25, 2013, 10:31:36 AM
The real problem here is, as has already been at least partially mentioned:

1. The lack of transparency in the process.
2. The lack of communication.
3. The lies and false promises made by BFL Support Staff.
4. Delay after delay.
5. The just plain ludicrous decisions.  Perhaps transparency would clear these up.
6. The fact that most decisions made by BFL seem completely arbitrary, and nothing... NOTHING pisses off customers more than arbitrary decision making.  When your actions are not predictable in a given situation, you are wrong.  Period.

So while this post is nice and all, I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish other than to distract from the real issues surrounding BFL.  My situation, that has been on going since October 2012, is still unresolved.  I am not the only one in this situation and there are plenty of others in similar situations.

...
Maybe this is the wrong thread to bring any of this up, but I don't want people to be distracted by this kind of thread from the real issue of BFL being unable to meet their obligations to even moderate sized customers, especially when you are trying to gain new customers who will end up completely screwed when the BFL house of cards comes crashing down.

Sound familiar? Well, it is  Grin

3. The lies and false promises made by MTGox Support Staff with regards to AML/KYC.
4. Delay after delay, ostensibly under the guise of AML.
5. The just plain ludicrous decisions (Goat as an example).  Perhaps transparency would clear these up.

Nice to see that Josh Zerlan / Inaba has the same problems with MtGox that the Bitcoin community has with him and BFL.

Is it a Bitcoin issue that it attracts so many felons and scumbags? Or is BFL only one black sheep?

I more and more come to the conclusion that this unregulated Bitcoin Wild West Cowboy territory will finally eat itself.
323  Local / Mining (Deutsch) / Re: Neues Produkt: Butterfly Labs 28nm Technology Bitcoin Mining Card - 600 GH/s on: August 24, 2013, 12:42:35 PM

... This is what one should expect from a company that is headed by a convicted criminal. I only found this out after I ordered.

And this is exactly why BFL should get a scammer tag: To make new members of this community think twice before they give money to this company.

By the way: This is what Inaba / Josh Zerlan (COO of BFL) thinks about us:
... Everyone here is monumental assholes, no matter how accommodating one tries to be.  ...
325  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Butterfly Labs CEO 25 Million USD Mail Fraud — A Concise Summary of Evidence on: August 24, 2013, 12:22:10 PM
It's a Ponzi scheme.

" In reality, Ponzi was paying early investors using the investments of later investors. This type of scheme is now known as a "Ponzi scheme".

Maybe later generations will call it the "Inaba scheme"  Wink
326  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Codinginmysleep= BFL SHILL 2 the MAX - on: August 24, 2013, 12:14:00 PM
I think his first video showing the unboxing of the Jalapeno back in April basically caught my eye and put my thoughts at ease about BFL.

Dog and pony show. Was very obvious.

David Perry (Coding In My Sleep) sold his soul for one measly Jalapeno.

327  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL Extremely Abusive on: August 21, 2013, 07:27:16 AM
You, sir, are a liar (just like the OP)!  Congrats... but we already knew that.

"liar", "retard" and "idiot" - would Inaba be able to build one single sentence without one of those three words?  Grin

The clown has his own entry on urbandictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Inaba

They've been taking pre-orders for ASICS early 2012, they have now taken more than 12-18 months to deliver on their products.
Of course, this is a lie.  Not a single order's scheduled delivery date is more than 10 months old.  Where you get the claim of 12 - 18 months is beyond me, but it's completely, unequivocally false (in other words, an outright lie.)

Inaba / BFL_Josh is wrong - as usual.

Official shipping update from BFL_Jody from https://forums.butterflylabs.com/blogs/bfl_jody/296-monday-august-19-2013-shipping-update.html:

Quote
Jalapenos: All 4.5 gh/s Jalapenos through Dec 31, 2012 pay date shipped today. Anyone with a 6.5 gh/s upgraded Jalapeno will be shipped tomorrow through this paydate.

Little Singles: Oct. 5, 2012 pay date

Singles: July 3, 2012 pay date

MiniRigs: MiniRigs for June 23 (2nd 500gh/s unit) and July 22 for 1st 500 gh/s This line was static with no shipments today.

July 3, 2012 and June 23, 2012 was more than 12 month ago, no? Wink
Josh, maybe you should talk to your colleges more often.

331  Bitcoin / Hardware / BFL ASIC Status vs. BFL Monarch Status on: August 20, 2013, 01:45:19 PM
What we know about BFL so far:
  • BFL was late with their generation 1 miners (FPGA). Units consumed considerably more power than originally advertised.
  • BFL was (is!) way behind schedule with their generation 2 miners (ASICS). Units consumed way more power than originally advertised.

Question is: Will history repeat (a third time) for BFL?

Let's keep track of the Monarch updates - and see if the locusts descend this time (on time) Grin

332  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL board project COINTAMINATION - EU+USA facility - need samples for one board on: August 19, 2013, 09:22:25 PM
With the new 28nm BFL technology just around the corner - is your project still worth it?
333  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC Mafia, Mining HW Ponzi scheme on: August 19, 2013, 09:16:42 PM
When I see these pictures around the forum with all the CEOs of asic miners together (BFL, KNC, ButterflyLabs, Avalon, AM, etc), I start to think that all of them are coordinated discussing the hashing power that they are releasing to the network so they can put a price accordingly.

Do you think that is like that? Is this the begining of a bitcoin mafia?

I'm not sure if this is the beginning of the Bitcoin Mafia - or if the Mafia is already there. But when I look back at the last 12 month I have to conclude: The idea of Bitcoin is dead.

It started altruistic, to give the banksters the finger - but it ended up attracting all sorts of scum (crooks, psychopaths, convicted felons).

Greed seems to be the predominant attribute of mankind. Whether the mammons name is Gold, US-Dollar - or Bitcoin. Makes no difference ...
334  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I just cancelled my BFL pre-order because of Monarch. on: August 19, 2013, 09:09:09 PM
By the time you get your product back, Difficulty is too high and they came up with a better, cheaper product that they will deliver sooner.

I assume the ones that are really fucked are the poor fellas that bought BFL chips.
335  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [POLL] Should Butterfly Labs (BFL) get a Scammer tag? on: August 19, 2013, 08:05:38 PM
Only 77 percent say BFL is a scam? Seriously? After BFL pulled a Monarch out of their hat?

A Monarch, that miraculously can cancel formerly uncancelable (pre) orders?

From BFL's webpage: "Transferring your order to a new 28nm Mining Card will cancel your old order completely. ..."

Could anyone explain how a customer can "transfer" an order - but is not allowed to receive a refund because of BFL's "all sales are final" statement?

That means, the argument "we cannot refund you because we already spent resources to build up your device" becomes a fallacy if an order "transfer" is allowed.

How can BFL justify this "non refunds" policy any longer?
336  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Gox/Bitstamp spread breaches 20%. The bank run on Gox has started! 8/19 on: August 19, 2013, 09:26:30 AM
Why then not buy BTC at bitstamp for example, where price is lower? The difference between Gox and others is still rising.

Oh great idea! I wonder why nobody else had this idea
/sarcasm off  Roll Eyes

It doesn't matter if you sell your Bitcoins on MtGox for 100, 1000 or one gazillion USD per BTC - as long as there's no way to withdraw your funds.
337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs New 600GH "Mining Card" - RED FLAGS?!?! on: August 19, 2013, 06:41:27 AM
Edit: Now if Slock turned....damn...you'd know that so much shit hit the fan that the fan fell from the ceiling from the sheer weight of it all.

Slok actually does work for BFL. Either this, or he has some very (very!) good inside connections to information only BFL staff can now.

"It's -on-"? What is on? The thread-starter frenzy?

Does the HashFast crew really has to start 5 new threads per day?
339  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 18, 2013, 07:33:56 AM

It's 3:00 AM Paris time, and I do enjoy reading threads usually.

Nasser

Of course you read them not logged it. Smart move. I still believe Jeff Ownby is using this account.

One of the mods could easily clarify this (checking the IP from where BFL-Engineer posted this).

@BFL-Engineer, would this be OK for you?
340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 17, 2013, 11:55:01 PM
Regarding power consumption, Radeon 5970 and 5870 both consume more power than our card does, the very reason we took this design approach.

Regards,
Nasser

My 5870 used to consume about 200 Watt.

It seems you don't know the power consumption of the card you claim you have designed (350 Watt).

Maybe you should take a look at your own web site  Grin
