1081  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 27, 2023, 02:04:18 AM
My experience isn't about Roulette but to other side of the game when I started gambling I don't know how to select my option for sport bet so what I was doing then was to pick any option without me reflecting back to their previous histories and their past matches to see their last season performances the rest I will go blindly pick without knowing what i was doing I have done that consistently other that isn't my normal route of gambling but one day i have to call a brother to come put me true the system and it was him who calm down to show me how it works and things i should do before picking them and if i should picked them randomly i will continuously losing my bets, that was how i learned with the hard time.

Just like op did, some people want to bring in the pride of not being thought by anybody in what they do or how they started gambling and for those people, they either learn the very hard way or they never get to learn at all by eventually backing out.

Like Op suggested after his losing experience, using demo to practice some games that allow that demo learning and that is one way to actually be knowledgeable before going in full for real and again, some people decide to use very small amount of money to try real staking. And in your own case like many have learnt also through direct tutelage from someone and it never cost anything to learn through that. However when it comes to soccer betting, many bettors have learnt it by self growth  in the game because it is popular and you can easily google those options to know what they mean.
1082  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 27, 2023, 01:17:19 AM
I don't really know if we are not considering how long we gamble to how much we have determined to gamble on , I mean availability of the bankroll. This is what will determine how long we want to stay and gamble in our free time.

Therefore, what will determine it is not how much we have left in the account but the range of money we have budgeted to gamble. So in this light, the faster we exhaust the budget, the faster we end the gambling for that time and if we continue to win then it can elongate our stay to gamble more. For example if you have decided to staked 1% of your total balance to gamble and you exhaust it in the next hour then it means you are not going to continue beyond that next hour but if you 1% budget takes you to next 10 hours then you are obliged to stay longer if you have that free time. So this is to say it depends on how much you have to gamble with.
1083  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: If bitcoin is not decentralized currency what would have happen to bitcoin on: December 26, 2023, 08:23:23 PM
You go take how altcoins dey now take compare wetin for be bitcoin fate in the scheme of cryptocurrency stuff if to say e no dey decentralise.  Like trust wey investors get on bitcoin unto say demselves see say to manipulate the coin no be easy thing so dey have to confirm and believe what comes from bitcoin .

Therefore because of say the coin get enough security and protection for hodlers, e no get fake. I believe say if to say e no be for being decentralised, El Salvador for no adopt am.
1084  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Make Una Avoid Ethnicity Here in the Forum. We're all One. on: December 26, 2023, 07:42:18 PM
Make we no con begin bring politics enter here and that one go kuku make some guys wey don dey put head here run comot. We don see how politics for naija real life take divide us along plenty line like religion, ethnicity, social affinity, dialect, education and more. Now wetin we want begin talk na sub language for here.

Abeg that one no go help us for here to begin push say make one particular language speaker begin get sub board no matter their number.

I think say we been don say na pidgin or english language we go take dey run our matter for here, make we no begin dey confuse ourselves on another matter concerning sub language. For me self only pidgin English na im we for dey use so dat pple no go too choke eyes for us.
1085  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Help someone in the year 2024 on: December 26, 2023, 05:21:30 PM
To help people good but the thing be say some people no dey like start small. Like some people wey no even get anything dey see demselves as too big to learn work and you wey go help dem go tire, dem just want make you carry money give dem for hand without bending down to learn and understand one or two things. Another thing be say, person go know who him go help or bring in. No be every one for road you go help, some people fit still set you up. I don see people wey in the name of help and being good don bring people come there house and at the end of the day them begin show bad character like raping the female children, stealing and setting oga or madam up.
1086  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Does being in the opposition even solve the problem of the country by 1% on: December 26, 2023, 04:47:54 PM

Or is he trying to stay "relevant" until the next presidential elections?

I no really see wetin peter obi dey do as something wey we go begin see as say him dey criticize the government or say him don begin play opposition. If government dey do wetin no too good den people suppose talk and that one no be negative criticism put positive criticism so that government go fit think properly next time. Okay we see the way government take do subsidy palliative, I don't know people wey benefit from am. Also this festive season wey dem put some subsidy for transportation wey be bus and train, it was shabbily organised as we all know, so person need to talk.

But regards to peter obi oo, him suppose dey active and stay around people's faces to keep his movementon till the next four years. Him sabi say him no need to leave the space otherwise the next election go be a hard one for him but staying around softens the system for him.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Innovation in online gambling on: December 25, 2023, 02:47:21 PM
I can notice some changes but not quit alot from casino games.

The changes I have noticed apart from few from other games, sports betting has recorded some numbers of innovations which I think have also assisted or made the gamblers to have some winnings. Cash out is a relatively new creation.

There are other features in the soccer bets in terms of options, moneyline odds, way moneyline betting, asian handicap and handicap bets, draw no bet etc. I have used draw no bet and I think it is a really good creation in the soccer bets option.

1088  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain fiat Currency on: December 25, 2023, 01:53:18 PM
I don't know how a unified stable coin will work when bitcoin is yet to get such status. If you understand that decentralisation has been one of the discouragement for control and the government not likely to go in for what they can't control and manipulate. So using a stable coin that gives everyone the access and view on the blockchain still looks difficult to conceive.
1089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Between Physical and Online Gambling which makes a person more addicted on: December 25, 2023, 12:53:41 PM

Now it has made every little discussion that leads to argument an avenue to gamble, always ready to stake huge amount just to prove himself right. I consider this being addiction and I am always advising him to drop this lifestyle.

I would say physical gambling can be tempting to be addicted with this kind of attitude where your friend has found every aspect of live to be gambling with it but at the same time it is the type of gambling that he understands, like he does physical gambling and not online likewise others can do online gambling far more addicted than does in physical gambling.

In other words it depends on the type of preference for gambling, whether online or physical, you can be an addict if you don't control yourself because some other gamblers online are addicted to their phone logging in to their gambling account every now and then playing. I think the course for that is greed, when you want to make money.
1090  Economy / Economics / Re: Will they ever be able to afford a house? on: December 25, 2023, 11:17:02 AM
Forget housing. Living in an RV is a better idea especially if you are young and working remotely. Don’t get me wrong, everybody needs a house sooner or later but you need to play it smart. Now the interest rates are high so no matter how cheap your dream house is, you can’t buy it unless you borrow money from the banks.

If you want to know, some older people who missed the chance to buy their house at younger age will tell you how regretful they are because they misused the money they had then. It is a wise decision to have your home at young age so that even if you don't have money later you can put some part on mortgage or lease and that will keep bringing you some money. So don't throw away your opportunity to be rich in the future by throwing away the opportunity of investing in real estate at a younger age.
1091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 25, 2023, 10:48:23 AM

My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?

This has become a habit that the gambler you are talking about probably did before he experienced problems with himself. Gambling addiction may be an unresolved problem for him that makes him always gamble when he has money. and that's what he remembers when in the past he was a heavy gambler.
There is nothing wrong as long as the offline casino provider does not feel disturbed by its existence, which some people may consider unfit to go to the casino. but if he continues to gamble with his money and not the proceeds of crime. it will not cause problems for him and the casino providers.

That has been my idea. If he is not disturbing and goes in then comes out in peace then everything is fine. He probably have been gambling there or somewhere that he kept doing it because he understands what he is doing by himself with experience. There are people like that in the neighbourhood who are drug addicts and also gamblers who have been knocked off in their brain sort off and they don't communicate coherently yet they bet because they are already used to it and they are also keeping their friends few times even though those friends now stay at length.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 25, 2023, 07:36:32 AM
.

When I inquired from the attendant, she said he was a regular customer and that he usually raised money for gambling through the manual jobs he does around the area. She also told me that he has never misbehaved and acted violently in the gambling house so she was comfortable with him.

You could see he is not mad but probably mentally challenged which can come and go like temporary. There are people who are like that mentally that you only notice them when that moment come to them.

There is a different analysis to this story. He might be gambling before that challenge came to him which can explain why he still retain the ability to gamble and visit the gambling shop. Or he is not mentally challenged in the real sense because someone in such condition may not have the cognition to know how to gamble.

.
My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?

If from what the story is that he walks into a gambling shop and does what others do in peace and leaves, I don't think there is a reason to deny him freedom of association or any other if he is of gambling age. In fact he may not be that challenged mentally not to know what he is doing.
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most gamblers do not believe they can consistently make money, that's why... on: December 25, 2023, 03:57:20 AM
Individual gamblers has their personal view about gambling but I must say that gambling  is not an assured not money making venture, no matter your mindset, if you win as a gambler just believe that it was meant to happen, no matter how optimistic you are in gambling, you will lose and win that's just it, not being skeptical people make many through gambling but before they start making this money, they might have lost many times trying to win, the only strategy I have applied in gambling that has helped me to win severely times, this was in soccer bet, this strategy is to single my bets and staking it with a high amount of money, after this bets I will win two or more slips out of the stakes.

You are not the only one that has discovered taking a single bet on soccer can be better than making accumulated bets on a single ticket can increase your winning chances because it is what more bettors do now and they increase their staking power to make the potential to increase but on the other hand also, it is quite risky to increase stake like that if you don't have the capacity for it. I have seen bettors also losing hugely because they over increased their staking power and they express regret when they lose. So betting is basically a win lose situation.

1094  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The so called fuel subsidy removal. on: December 24, 2023, 10:40:26 PM
I think staying positive in this economy will do us a lot of good, na person wey take care of himself dey stay alive to enjoy opportunities, there are those making it big time despite the harshness of the leadership.

Subsidy or no subsidy, positioning yourself with a positive mindset would always be better than worrying about things you cannot change.

No be lie you still talk even as we expect say government go stop
certain corrupt practices wey make people dey jakpa from the country. The country dey swim inside corruption and that one no dey give guys hope say things go better that na why people no dey want wait to search for opportunities here and me no too dey blame people when dem dey fear scam but if you don see hand wey want genuinely lift you up, make you show interest to learn and follow up because dat fit be the opportunity in disguise.
1095  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: New year resolution on: December 24, 2023, 08:14:57 PM
The thing about new year resolutions be say life no just dey go straight and that na the challenge wey make majority no dey fit follow am or dem go just follow up for few months and after na to change when dem no dey meet up. Omo if you dey keep to that and you never see anything till half of the year, people dey change.

Man no be God and na dat one make we no dey still sabi say God fit do plenty things at same time at the last minutes. I hope say our new year resolutions go bring light shine on us this 2024.
1096  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Glo and it's network wahala on: December 24, 2023, 07:15:16 PM
I will advise you to have all the networks. To get each network sim card is very cheap and they do come with many offers. Go for MTN, Etisalat and Airtel and see the best one that have network in your area.

If you do not want to buy the SIM cards, look for the one that its mast is closer to your house or where you are browsing. The closer the mast the better the network.

I can recommend MTN because I have been to so many places outside my state and it remains the most reliable.

No be lie na MTN get coverage pass for naija whether village or town if you compare the network connectivity, coverage and services na MTN still pass.

You don really give am advise to add other networks just incase and for somebody wey dey always dey online, omo the person still need to support at least one more network including MTN.

So Op, you go just need close eyes go get MTN and you go surprise say that small network coverage from MTN go better pass when you get full network indicator for your phone from other networks.
1097  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your take on this? on: December 24, 2023, 06:12:01 PM
Of course, concerns and anxieties are always there, and the same goes for Nigeria, they are very worried that the presence of crypto in their country could lead to misuse of crypto currency due to the risk of money laundering, while the level of corruption cases in that country is quite high. . The government is only worried that this crypto will be used as a means to launder money for corruptors.

To me this is the least of worries from the government. Money laundering or corruption practices through cryptocurrency is not the problem for the government or reason for banning crypto back then in Nigeria. It emanated from the #Endsars agitation that encompasses police brutality on the people and other extra judicial killings going on in the country and still going on presently. So the agitators on the streets on Nigeria across all the states needed to be financed because they stayed like two weeks day and night on the streets. The financers of this protest did that through cryptocurrency because they don't want to be easily traced through fiat and so the government woke up to freeze those exchange accounts that where link to the banks.

Therefore, the banning was more of an afterthought not a predetermined policy of the government backed with their monetary policy but just because they want to get to some people and not to allow untraceable financing of any such of agitation.

It is not to check money laundering or corruption because they don't need crypto to launder money. They are not quite serious to fight corruption . Hopefully, the unbanning will help more trade to freely open up among the youths.
1098  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Features of the worldview of a gambler on: December 24, 2023, 05:36:11 PM
One thing I know about gamblers and its addicts is that there is the believe and zeal to win is always there. They are optimistic to win and that is why they another game for next round try and unfortunately winning is not given on a platter of gold so either they fail more or they are just within a fair luck here and there as we know the house edge override the possibility for a winning over losing. There is a believe to win and that is why the next game is queued up without recourse to loses, debt loans or emotional stability.

The fact that the chance is always there to win is what make most people coming back and especially gamblers following that win. They of course have a pathological optimism that brings them to the casino again despite several heavy losing sessions before and if they did not have it then it means they would be more practical and pragmatic to stop playing or coming back to play at the casino, they lack also analysis of what just happened to them as they pass it as something normal when in fact it is not normal to lose a lot of money yet they think in the next session they will recover that money which is what leads to them coming back and back asking for more until they get addicted, they are pretty readable, the gamblers.

Yes and in this light one would wonder if optimism is used in the right sense by gambling addicts or that they are miss using it and allowing it to work on them wrongly because when you see that you have lost 1,2,3 and more times but you decide to be positively optimistic to stay and keep trying on it, on what the basis is luck.

Optimistic is suppose to be used for what you can have little or some control and then you add or strengthen your effort to make it work. For example if you have failed in an example and you know you didn't prepare very well for the exam, hence you can be optimistic to pass next time because you know you had no effort in the first time and that if you strengthen your effort the next time then you are likely to pass but gambling is not that way because the effort is not on your on influence or control and this is why addicts keep going deep as optimistic gamblers.
1099  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't fall victim in this season of Christmas and new year. on: December 24, 2023, 03:05:17 PM
We need to understand something about kidnapping. The thing no just dey happen randomly except someone innocent just run into them maybe when dem dey operate, otherwise na by arrangement e dey happen because na rat wey dey house go outside go tell another rat say fish dey inside the house wey him dey.

Na rare cases we you go see say dem just kidnap person wey dem know no him worth already. So no be even by alert message but the information wey kidnappers carry enter the arrangement. So dem fit even dey talk say na the transaction attract dem just to cover traces of informant. Okay why dem kidnap him in the first place.
