1101  Other / Meta / Re: Merry Christmas to the Forum on: December 25, 2018, 04:37:49 AM

Note: I may have screwed-up on a few though.

Edit: @jonemil24, I'll take your word over Google's for it ...

Yup , you screwed. Happy holidays literally translate to खुश छुट्टियाँ but nobody use this term.
General practice will be say like  छुट्टियाँ मुबारक or  शुभ छुट्टियाँ .
1102  Other / Meta / Re: The most IMPORTANT post you will read this MONTH Let's get off this path now... on: December 25, 2018, 02:22:28 AM
@cryptohunter

Let me put forward another theory that I believe.

Forum is a private forum that is administered by theymos. Might we think that theymos is not aware what is going in this forum but from my personal experience I observed that theymos reads everything here and seldom comments. He is fully aware what is going on this forum.
He has full power to start a very new system and scrap any of the existing system.

If a gang exists than it is not possible that he is not knowing. If he even not taking actions after knowing it then better to leave as it is (because all DT powers and Merit source powers coming from the system designed by theymos.)

I am not agreeing/disagreeing  with your gang theory but I am just saying you have created enough posts/thread about your views and I am sure your views already reached to forum administrator.

What the problem you think will be rectified by him if he agrees.

So I will say, just take rest and enjoy and you have made enough effort in posting the issues you think.
1103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: supply of merit on: December 25, 2018, 01:05:06 AM
Taking the data  from  from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=sources that shows currently there are 22055 source sMerits are available

and putting this number to Number of Merits generated (mathematically) there should be 44108 merits should flow every month assuming every body is not hoarding any sMerits and all the previous airdropped sMerits are exhausted.

1104  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Is £2,500 too low for a market maker transaction? on: December 25, 2018, 12:43:34 AM
I think the price of bitcoin should reach at least 3000 - 2500 dollars, so I'm also waiting for this time.

Even if it reach $2500, how we can become sure that it will bounce back from there or it will not further dip?
Few days ago , we all convinced $6000 is a new low and we have good support around $5900 to $5800. (I will not able to find that article now but it was in some established crypto site).

so I will say , do not hurt yourself and buy that much only that we can afford to lose.

PS: No TA, pure gut feeling, $2500 if reached, will be great buy but still it is not a financial advice.
: I feel $3200 will be breached in coming days.

1106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which is the best Auto-Bot Dice strategy? on: December 23, 2018, 09:23:04 PM
Do  not look at gambling as a activity to earn money . It is mathematically proven that you can not beat casino/Dice.
Just use it as entertainment. Instead of going to movie and spending $25 there , sometime you might like to take chance, what this $25 bring you today.
1107  Other / Meta / Re: I've stopped reporting posts on: December 23, 2018, 08:06:10 PM
Do not worry about bad reports, If you do not report then how do you know it can be turned bad?
1 good report is always worth.
It will be really tough for mod to give reasons for each reports and I guess you should worry reporting if your accuracy falls below 90% otherwise keep reporting.

@OP

I think  I have also sMerits to spare and I will definitely chip in if you find more than 6 eligible people.

Just thinking, if you can create a google spread sheet in first post for the list of user that you think deserve atleast 1 merit but you are not able to give (if you run out of smerits)
1110  Other / Meta / Re: How to unlock locked account on: December 22, 2018, 05:16:59 PM
A friend changed his password and tried logging in. And he got the message your account has been lock for security reasons. How would he unlock.

Account name: linenoise
Account can be locked through the link which is sent to the registered email, this feature is added to stop using the hacked account so your friend maybe clicked that link accidentally?

I read sometime back, that there is bug in this forum and account can be locked if you use Secret question feature.
1111  Other / Meta / Re: How to unlock locked account on: December 21, 2018, 07:52:20 PM
Just wondering, you created topic at 12:28 pm today. Account was last active at 12:49 pm.
Did your friend used "Secret Question" feature ?
1112  Other / Meta / Re: Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism on: December 21, 2018, 07:00:23 PM

Separately, there is an argument that bans for plagiarism should be delayed by a week, or 20 posts from the time a moderator discovers the infraction. The purpose of this would be too see if they will continue plagiarizing many times, or if they did something stupid on one or two posts. Someone who copies 5-10 of their next 20 posts is clearly not someone we want around, while someone who copies 1-2 ever might deserve some leniency, especially if they make generally insightful posts. This would help decide if someone will have *really* "learned their lesson" and wont make the mistake of copying content a second time.

This looks to me similar to approach like if cop sees some rash driving, then instead of giving ticket immediately ,he should watch/follow to observe driving for next 10-15 minutes ?

There should be no leniency if someone copying the post of others or from articles from other website.

Only leniency can be given to those who copied official announcement types post without declaring the site. They can be given temp sig ban.

I am not in favor of any financial penalty.

1113  Other / Meta / Re: Top 200 Merit Receivers without Merit from the Top 200 Merit Receivers on: December 17, 2018, 01:41:23 PM
@Cryptohunter
You need to analyze every profile in top 200 before you do any allegation. Just devote a day to manually  check all of them. To find the truth you do not need the data of excel sheet.

You will find that many people in top 100 are doing a lot of voluntary work. (Just try to see them and go through their post histories, you will find it.)

Unfortunately, I fit on the all the criteria that you are asking for the circle.
1. I am in top 200.
2. I have most of Merits in Meta.

But in truth,I I do not know anybody in this forum apart from their forum id. I have no friendship with  any of these in top 200 or anybody in this forum.
Even I joined crypto space just for trading (or FOMO in Dec 2017) but apart from reading in this forum , I have read various books just to understand Bitcoin and block chain and few white paper s of successful coins.

It is  not like that I am in top 200 from very start of merit inception, I just become part of it couple month back.

Instead just saying top 200 do not deserve their spot, just analyse top 200 and tell us for each profile why they don't deserve and put forward some profile ( not 200 but 10 only) that you find more deserving the top 200 in this list.
I think, if you present this case, they will definitely rewarded.
I read in some of your post that somebody is writing very good post in Altcoins section and need to be rewarded , just find these people and bring them forward.

Forget Meta, see the data, what do you say about user who got 100 plus Merits by just posting in WO threads?
Or got so much Merits in their escrow threads?
Or got merits for managing a successful bounties in past?

All these Merit will not come in Meta so will you assume that they are more better and more exceptional posters than user who are earning in Meta.

Just devote your couple of days and instead of telling us that top 200 are fully worthless, just point the users you think are useless in that club and provide few exceptional alternatives that deserves the place but not in list.
1114  Other / Meta / Re: Top 200 Merit receivers without Merit from the Top 200 Merit receivers on: December 17, 2018, 09:08:29 AM
Excellent statistics, as usual. I will bookmark this thread and send merit when I have one.
I think someone is still hungry, can you create the same statistics for Meta? How many merits top 200/500 merit receivers have received in Meta  Roll Eyes

You can see this data in this sheet

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iE2gJf7tdyAqf5VHHaoid-Mx0lhZH0UPflgdQ_Pag58/edit?usp=sharing

or alternatively in this codebox

I will say everybody has his own area of contributions and gaining merit in Meta does not make it circle. Analyze the data, you will find few user received 0 merits or very few merits in Meta but their merit are coming from other single subboard. (like WO thread)

@LoyceV, Though I was first to attempt this statistics but I will be never able to match you in presenting the data.

Thanks for posting the top 50 exclusion list. That's the first time I have got ahead of TMAN in a long time. Smiley
You was ahead of TMAN in below list too.

queries
Code:
select u1.username, A.toid,A.summerit from userdata u1 ,(select m.toid,sum(m.Merit) summerit from Meritdata m group by m.toid order by sum(m.merit) desc limit 200)A  where u1.userid=A.toid;

select u1.toid,sum(u1.merit) from Meritdata u1 ,(select m.toid,sum(m.Merit) summerit from Meritdata m group by m.toid order by sum(m.merit) desc limit 200)A  where u1.toid=A.toid and u1.subboard !='Meta' group by u1.toid;

Disclaimer: Special thanks  to Piggy for creating this tool which I used in this analysis.

Edit, can you show me that trick? how you get it so fast?

High probability that you might reported by suchmoon so suchmoon already knew the post.

This is not a trick, Instead it is pure voluntary  work  that people do for their love for this forum.

I am thinking of compiling a list of legends and heros that may have a chance of reinstatement who seemed net positive when banned.

Just reading a few of your posts I gained some interesting knowledge so it's a shame you are being cut off from the board at this time.

Theymos is very clear on plagiarism ban so your effort of creating list will go on vain. Even if you find 2-3 plagiarized post but how do you know that user has not deleted the earlier plagiarized posts? How can you be sure that current post will not be text spinned  and paraphrased from outside the forum(or post from other forum member)?

Most tough is to catch local poster, who translate their local language (post of other/or other sites) and post in English with para phrasing.

PS:  Real legendary already left this forum. Can you bring him/her back?

Edit:

2. By January 2015 when I was heavily sick and was into crypto-games campaign, for the reason of not missing out the slot, I decided to BUY POSTS from one of my old colleague. (He voluntarily asked me to give posts as he was aware of I was into BTT camp and not in position to write posts).
3. I bought some 20 posts from him but used less than 5, other posts were written by my wife (when I was sick). I guess all those 5 posts were plagiarized.
Post was plagiarized on Jan 2016 , so it does not look like your friends fault who has written for you in 2015.

4. I lost my job in late 2016 but managed my life's need just from the earning from my beloved bitsler campaign. But do not know how to lead a life now, feeling like committing suicide for the situation I am facing right now.

No idea, what to say , You are not able to find any job or  meaningful employment  for last 2 year? I will just wish you good luck in finding good job soon.

You are mixing blockchain size with wallet size.

You need to keep an eye open for those opportunities, which are hard to find and risky.

My whole idea of this thread is to identify these opportunities, risk evaluation we will do later on.

If say we got 10 technologies here and we invest $50 on each, my total investment will be $500, If anyone of it clicked we might get lucky with 100x amount otherwise I will think that I lost my costly smartphone.

In 20 years, Amazon also did 1000x  so 100x is not an insane thinking (maybe time frame is too long)

Sorry for posting here as you expect replies from Newbies only. But I'm surprised that there are 0 replies on this topic 5 hours since you started it. And then people complaining that's difficult to get Merits, there is discrimination against Newbies and etc. Now they have great chance to get easy Merit, but seems that nobody whant to get it. Why? Maybe these people who are usually complaining don't have any quality posts to show...

And they have no interest in writing quality also. My earlier thread did not got any legit response.

Has anyone considered investing in clean water? Is there a market for that? We are polluting and destroying our world every day. What if in 10-20 years we will have a shortage of drinkable water?!

Water packaging industry is already in boom and will have further scope in it. Even USA do not have drinkable tap water everywhere forget about the rest of the world.

I am still thinking about disruptive technologies that will  impact the future.
