1101  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Gauging interest in silver/gold bullion futures on: July 15, 2012, 05:12:48 PM
The question of shorting is a good one, which I was thinking about as well.  My guess is that GLBSE doesn't offer true futures contracts, where one could be long or short.  Also with true futures, one usually just has to put a margin deposit of only 10% down in order to hold the contract (thereby giving the holder quite a bit of leverage), whereas my guess is that GLBSE will require 100% of the contract value in order to purchase it.

The other wrinkle is that by being short the contract you would be obligated to deliver the underlying asset when the contract expires.

I'll think about this a little more and see if maybe there's a way to construct the contract so that one could make a bearish bet on the BTC/GLD, BTC/SLV price but have the contract be settled in BTC rather than in the actual underlying asset.

I was running through the math last night on some of the bullion products that I would potentially offer, and I'm confident I could beat coinabul.com's prices by close to 10% for US customers.  I'll need to do some more homework for international customers as the shipping and insurance options are a bit more complicated.

+1. Thanks for working on Gold and Silver shorting options.
1102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Personal contribution of 5,000 BTC to affected Bitcoinica customers on: July 15, 2012, 02:55:16 PM
is the claim page still open?
I am still missing about 5000 USD from bitcoinica and would like to join the paybacks  Smiley
1103  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] Gauging interest in silver/gold bullion futures on: July 15, 2012, 06:00:58 AM
Sounds very interesting.
Could you also offer the inverse future = shorting Gold and Silver futures?

Why $100? Just humor me please....thanks
my uneducated stance on this is, that the new hight-peaks always duble. e.g. when you look at the last rally, 1,2,4, then bit of red at 8, then nearly 16, then peak at 32. next one must be nearly 64 and 128! all things binary! Grin

this would be fun to watch :-)
1105  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Weekend Dip Myth on: July 14, 2012, 08:38:19 AM
the pressure is there. remember this key concept: "WALLS ARE FOR MARKET MANIPULATION ONLY"  the agenda behind putting up a wall is never to buy or sell coins but to keep the price high/low before a set time to make a switch (ie. this weekend). the reason they want to keep the price low till the weekend is they don't want to have as much competition for cheap coins. All the REAL trades are done in "the trenches." When people actually want to buy or sell coins they will do it "in the trenches" discreetly selling/buying a couple hundred coins at a time.

So essentially what i'm saying may sound counter-intuitive but here's what i think of "walls" :   A large ask wall thats up all day friday is a BULLISH sign. Assuming that they make the switch to the Bid side when the banks close. also a large bid wall thats up all day sunday is a BEARISH sign, because they plan on switching to the ask side when banks open.

The almost perfectly linear Diagonal line shape of the bid side is much more healthy than the "r" shape of the ask side.  this is because the bid side is full of "real" traders. People who actually want to buy coins. any time the price changes up or down the bid side is always buying "in the trenches"

clearly, 7.22 is resistance and prices may pause there for a while, but as I explained in the subscriber section, this is not required for many reasons.

As per "plan" bitcoin prices sliced through 7.22 like butter.

Good call. I expected the same, seeing most of the resistance take place around $6.8.

What's your opinion on the lack of effect of the latest Bitcoinica loss? Others have mentioned, the market seems to have written it off without much of a sell-off, which rather surprised me. It leaves me wondering if there could be a delayed response to these kinds of news events. I can't decide yet if it was good or bad that it happened right after making the year's new high.

Thanks.
And your question is a good one.
In our p.o.v., bitcoin prices have entered a major rally phase and fundamental news like the one we had yestetrday are lready priced in.
What we observe as well is that we get .any more twittter followers from the financial world (hedge funds, analysts, press, traders, bankers) . Those folks seem to increasingly start (thinking about) investing into bitcoins.
If this gets more traction, we will see more and more surprises to the upside - and a rally like the one we saw last year cam repeat itself easily.
A +30 $ rise can be achieved within weeks... And only the ones who get funds  into the exchanges quickly will be ahead of the game.
Even 100 $ this year can be realistic.

1108  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: July 13, 2012, 11:06:54 AM

The prospects that bitcoin prices would likely rise to new 2012 highs was clear to us when prices moved above 5.2 USD. This was the time when we issued a rally call in our subscriber section.

Which time? Price rose above 5.2 four times this year already.  Huh

This was in May 2012
1109  Economy / Speculation / Re: RALLY! on: July 13, 2012, 07:32:12 AM
What's fueling the rises this time?

I was reading that the rises are usually accompanied by an increase in searches on Google but this time there isn't one.

The faith in bitcoin ?
one major reason for the latest rise can be found in technical analysis

The prospects that bitcoin prices would likely rise to new 2012 highs was clear to us when prices moved above 5.2 USD. This was the time when we issued a rally call in our subscriber section.

The technical chart patttern over the long term shows a clear wave structure that will be shared on Sunday with new price projections.

the rally is on...

What does the community think the next resistance is ?

$7  (see mtgoxlive)

the order book sometimes fools traders.
The next bigger resistance is 10 $.

What do others think?

...
(2) you stated in the past that you will close out open positions at a fixed buy/sell rate, which is close to the BTC/USD price at the time the site was taken offline.
Is this statement still valid?
(3) how do you intend to handle the case that a (accurate) claim includes a position, but the opening base price of that position can't be established preciesly?

Thanks for any clarifications
-- Ichthyo

2- not sure. I'll have to check and repost here. I think they are being closed at 5 (not sure though).
...

...Do you email people to notify them that you've sent a payment? Do people get emails notifying them that they're accurate and just in a queue for payments?
...
People have been asking for this from day 1 and this is the answer you have ?  "5$, not sure"

You've not answered, I suggest you send notice before and after sending payment... to avoid sending to wrong addresses.

I'd swear I had answered this.

Anyways shorts close @ 4.9 longs @ 5.1

I don't believe it was ever answered.  Are you in charge of doing the disbursements now?  It would be nice if there was like a timetable for payouts.  I may be one of the few, but like most/all of my money was tied up in this.  If we could get a reasonable timetable with our first 50% payouts that would be excellent.  Thanks.

I am in the same position. I big part of my funds are locked up as well.
Please help genjix.

Just a quick update on forecast accuracy:
Since our strategic BUY trading option was triggered, bitcoin prices are up +25%.

People who like to get into the August subscriptions pool, can send an email to S3052@gmx.ch

A key benefit of our service (apart from the proven forecast accuracy) is that you do not necessarily need to read emails every day, we do the work for you. Sometimes we give many updates per week, but if there is too much noise, you can relax and don't need to look at unnecessary analyses.

1118  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MTGOX was down on Jun 23. Now its back up and running. on: July 02, 2012, 12:45:18 PM
I received the same a couple of days ago, but did not react since I have already shared everything with them weeks ago.

I believe this recent mail could be a SPAM / FISHING attempt.

OK - so........... I got a mail that my account is verified as accurate - but nothing but crickets after.

I was apparently under the mistaken impression that meant I was to see some kind of funds returned?

Again - wtf? Kinda irritating because now I'm checking the damn inbox again, and I really don't want to check if the check isn't coming in the mail. Tongue

Or, are we doing the - communicate one line of email and then nothing for yet another month. This game is getting tiring Sad

same for me, checking emails several times per day, without any news any more.. very disappointing
