And here a guideline for subscribers and others addressing the MtGox withdrawal issue:

If you really want to withdraw fiat, there is no need to bother with MtGox anymore:
Here the easy steps:

1) You could buy BTC at MtGox
2) Withdraw those BTC to another platform, i.e. bitfinex
3) Sell BTC on this platform / exchange to fiat
4) Withdraw fiat easily.
The whole operation should take approx 4-5 days. This is how it worked for me with bitfinex or bitstamp. International wires in all amounts approx 3 days on bitfinex.

I'm sorry, but isn't this obvious already? I mean the reason people do not want to do this is that they have to take a $10+ hit on the value of their newly bought bticoins.

You are right. The only reason I can see for people to stick with them is to believe / pray that they can keep this 10$ advantage.
But the exchange volume inversion from 80% mtgox to a lead of the other exchanges proves that most people are switching
523  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: September 22, 2013, 09:31:00 AM

524  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: September 22, 2013, 09:09:09 AM

Was soll er denn sagen?

Looking at various exchanges MTgox seems the most expensive to buy bitcoins from.
If I understand correctly currently the platform only supports MTGox ?
I would like to Buy bitcoins from the cheapest exchange .
I would also like to sell on MTgox .

I need a platform that can have multiple feeds of the exchanges used by
http://www.coindesk.com/coindesk-launches-proprietary-bitcoin-price-index/

Will this be possible soon ?

As an example, this one is on its way to cover data from all exchanges and even allow trading and arbitrage on all those exchanges from one single platform

Quote
26 August 2013: I switched the exchange rate to Bitstamp since MtGox has been having currency access issues.

I guess I'm not the only one not really looking at gox's price as the ACTUAL price. My view is you can only attain a fiat value where you can withdraw or get it in person (cash) at the same price.

Local cash transactions have also resorted to using non-gox values to determine fair market value to exchange at.

I agree with you.
There is no fundamental reason to stick with mtgox and the price is inflated due to the default risk

527  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Der Aktuelle Kursverlauf on: September 22, 2013, 08:37:01 AM

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=182568.msg3206174#msg3206174

Here is the current consolidated orderbook view across all key exchanges

I haven't seen a check since the 80ies, except one.  Got one in return from some USSAnian scammer company.  I was told by my bank I had to travel to USSA to cash it in.  Would you be happy if you got a check which you had to travel to Japan to cash in?  Probably cheaper to take the 5% option.
Sturle, you  keep mentioning this 5% emergency withdrawal option, but not a single person on this site has been able to provide any evidence for it. Further, if such an option existed, it would currently be quite profitable as the spread between other sites and Mtgox is over 5%.
See previous pages of this thread for first hand reports of emergency withdrawals.

I have. The only person I have seen mentioning it really is you. Show people how to get one of these supposed emergency withdrawals or stop spreading this FUD.
I was offered the 5% emergency withdrawal option.

You merely have to ask for it, if it isn't offered to you.
I asked and was told that such an option does not exist.

sorry, but I still don't get it.

535  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: September 20, 2013, 06:43:32 PM
may I ask you for a referral to bitfinex....sure Gox should be history  Wink
I may misunderstand you, but cant you just register there?
here is also the contact: contact@bitfinex.com

Finally received a 5 figure SEPA transfer from July 4th  Grin

2.5 months is ridiculous. I gave up after 3 weeks.

I don't see the issue at all with MtGox withdrawals anymore (yes I am over-simplyfying). There are a few other exchanges where withdrawals work almost instantly, my best experience it with bitfinex. All withdrawals processed within 3 days. I had at least 10 of them in the past 3 months.

It could be that simple: Buy some BTC at MtGox, withdraw BTC, send to another exchange... and MtGox is history...

I admit: I sold some coins because I'm such an emotional animal and experienced some angst the price might drop significantly. But really, I don't believe so.

I recommend a subscription to adam's bitmovements newsletter.
It gives  me a well-balanced sentiment of deep and omnipresent bullishness. almost feels like trading in Zen mode  Cheesy

this is why bitcoinbullbear avoids emotions
538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 20, 2013, 05:42:43 AM
probably this thread could merge into an overall orderbook and wall tracker

bitstamp has more volume now and there is one 3000 btc bid wall left. if this falls.. good night bitcoin for a deeper fall

looks more like 2000 to me.

Good night, Bitcoin.

Good morning, Blightcoin. Cheesy

1000 btc was probably already whale food (plankton) .. eaten away...

Wall still stands strong @ 1784

973 left...

How are your Litecoins going btw?

the litecoin pattern looks more bullish than the bitcoin chart pattern right now.
