They look pretty awesome. I have been waiting some time for this and now it is a reality. This will serve as a very handy tool for cold storage purpose, which I would use to have some reserve EXP just in case the price keeps going up in the future. I can't imagine what new and exciting thing for Expanse will come up next. I think that current prices right now are extremely cheap. Just wait and see.  Cheesy
11062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What do you think about ZCash? on: February 21, 2016, 08:56:18 PM
There has been announcements going around lately about a new cryptocurrency called ZeroCash (or ZCash) who purpose is to provide better anonymity and secure transactions. What do you think about? Will it be able to become so popular that it could rival Monero, ShadowCash, or even Dash? I am keeping an eye on this one, as it might probably become the next Bitcoin if it proves to be useful and can keep up with its promised features.  Roll Eyes
11063  Bitcoin / Mining support / Configuring miners for testnet Bitcoins? on: February 21, 2016, 08:49:50 PM
Just asking how it is really done since it is a little confusing to me, now that it would be my first time to set up testnet mode from within Bitcoin Core. When configuring CGminer, or a similar mining software, what do I need to do for the miners to begin mining testnet coins? Also, will it be compatible with normal mining pools, or is there one specific for testnet?

Wondering how it could be done, I thought it was all about placing my testnet into the mining pool configuration, but I am not so sure it would do the trick. Anyone tried this?  Huh
11064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: UPDATE: CRYPTO BULLION (CBX) w/ PoSP | Est. 2013 | Vault v2.3.2 available now! on: February 21, 2016, 08:48:17 PM
Man as soon as I get myself updated with the latest CBX version here I'm going to for sure get some staking going on with this freaking GEM!!!

I'm glad you see it that way. CBX is more like gold or silver, but in a digital form. Prices has been stable these days, but I am going to hold and stake CBX for the next massive pump (like the one that happened around 2 days ago). As soon as there is less supply, the more valuable it would be I think.  Cheesy
11065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: February 21, 2016, 08:45:18 PM
Become a $MUE whale!
There's a 6 million $MUE sell wall at 100 sats (7%+ of total supply).
https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-MUE

I think had a positive effect in MUE's price as I see it has increased a little, according to Coinmarketcap. I gueess this is a good sign after all. Time to buy and hold MUE.  Grin
11066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum vs Lisk on: February 21, 2016, 08:42:42 PM
Quite honestly, I haven't got a clue because I can't get my head around the technology of either of them.
Its total gibberish to me. I know the tech is great but it doesn't  help folks like me knowing if I should
invest or not.
This is surely a problem developers need to start taking much more seriously. To me it just feels like devs are competing
with each other with each new coin and enriching themselves in the process. Isn't the tech there already to get coins out for mass adoption?
I do try and tell friends about alt coins but they can't even get their heads around the very basic stuff let alone programmer speak.

Six years now and no alt coin is being used in the real world on a daily basis by regular people buying everyday goods. Thats a big
problem. Why can't this stuff be made easier to understand for the masses. Why isn't there a wallet with exchange technology built in as if it were made
for a 3 year old to understand, sell coins directly to the public and get them trading but without them having to go to exchanges, worrying about security,
delving in to blockchain tech etc.

I know a lot of people around here love all the tech side.I like tech, but I like tech I can use like Skype, Email, Photoshop, Music software, paypal. Everything I use
on a daily basis seems natural in design. Almost everything in Crypto seems like its made for techie types to use.

Not Fud, Just saying....I do now 50 ETH btw Smiley

I understand what you have just stated here mate. As a matter of fact, I could say that not either ETH or any other alt coin has given priorities to become used as a mainstream currency or platform. Not even providing a user friendly wallet for non techies to get used to the coin. I think that the only coin that has done its best to become mainstream is Bitcoin. Just my opinion.  Smiley

Regarding to Lisk, I will be keeping an eye on this one. Perhaps, it could be something really useful.  Roll Eyes
11067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum vs Lisk on: February 21, 2016, 08:18:43 PM
There is going to be an ICO for the release of a new coin, or should I say a decentralized platform for applications, similar to Ethereum called Lisk. Seeing it myself, it looks very promising and it will be a true competitor to ETH, but I would like to hear your opinion regarding this new kind of platform.

Whereas ETH uses solidity programming language, Lisk would use JavaScript which would be easier for developers to adapt to it since it is one of the most popular programming languages out there. What do you think?  Smiley

11069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: February 20, 2016, 12:53:28 AM
Double you money with ETH  doubler contract, already 2735.52 ETH paid.
http://app.etherdoubler.com/

Is this really proven to work or is it just another ponzi scheme? Can anyone provide proof of this? I have seen some posts saying that they have received payment, but showing proof would make it ideal to prevent falling for the scam.  Roll Eyes
11070  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: February 20, 2016, 12:45:48 AM

Why not put some of the eggs to some other baskets available. Maybe buying some eth or monero sort of an investment for these coins may skyrocket in the future. They're much cheaper today so profit is going to be huge.

Exactly. As long as you diversify your investments into other coins like Ethereum and Maidsafe, you will have a very good amount of profit. It is not just investing all into Bitcoin, instead spread a little amount into other promising coins as well. Hope this helps.  Smiley
11071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is your PoS strategy? on: February 20, 2016, 12:31:19 AM
I prefer to light my money on fire and avoid piece of shit coins altogether but I can see that others blinded by greed may prefer your strategy to mine.

Well yeah there are a lot of shitcoins out there, but there are some among the list that are really worth a shot. Just made a research, and found out some pretty good ones like Peercoin. Based on what I think, it looks like PoS mining is better than PoW in terms of energy consumption. It is much more economical.  Grin
11072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Making a BTC node hidden service? on: February 20, 2016, 12:27:21 AM
It is actually very simple now. First start up tor, then start Bitcoin Core with the -listenonion flag and -torpassword=<pass> flag where <pass> is your control port password if you have one set. In order to use it though, you will need to enable the control port in the torrc file.

Thanks for your reply. I will give this a shot for the BTC onion node. Just one more thing though, is it necessary to leave Tor open for this to work or is it safe to close it after running Bitcoin Core?  Smiley
11073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN: Shift [SHF] Takeover Thread on: February 19, 2016, 11:32:32 PM
X11 ASICs are coming. Check this out:
https://twitter.com/jessecouch/status/700425833643581441

This is the perfect time to get some massive GPU hash power from big coins like DASH. Must let people know about switching to SHF mining.

Pretty cool indeed. This is definitely a better choice for ETH and SHF mining than buying GPUs for mining I think. I will add this to my whitelist. Hope it will be available for purchase real soon. As for SHIFT, I think things will go pretty well for it if development rises. I am keeping an eye on this one.
11074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to learn Bitcoin Programming? on: February 19, 2016, 11:04:46 PM

Mastering Bitcoin by Andreas Antonopoulos
Princeton Bitcoin book
Blockchain Programming with C# by Nicholas Dorier
Bitcoin developer documentation

Put these lines in google, and you're off to great start.

Thanks for sharing these book recommendations. I have found them very useful for what I am really looking for. It would be great to get certified as a Bitcoin developer somehow by taking an exam. That would be a great addition to my portfolio or resume.  Smiley
11075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Making a BTC node hidden service? on: February 19, 2016, 10:24:33 PM
As far as I know, there isn't practically any BTC nodes running under the Tor network. (based on what I have seen on the web) I would like to know how do I setup a full BTC node that would run as a hidden service under the onion network. Is there any simple way to do this? A guide or tutorial would be really helpful. Please let me know since I want to support Bitcoin as much as I can.  Smiley
11076  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: February 19, 2016, 10:13:34 PM
Great coin I have been buying for the last few hours while the price is still crazy low, are we going to get any new features soon?

Yes, in a kind of way. I'm currently working on a shop that would accept many crypto-currencies, including one of my favourites, Magi Wink !

That is really cool. This could be one of the best Magi shops available yet. I don't there is more merchants that would accept XMG as payment, but if there is a list of them that would prove otherwise, I would like to know. During this weekend, I am going to put more XMG into Staisybit for greater staking.  Cheesy
11077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: WARP - Something different ---- VPN & SYNC ---- YoBit & SafeCEX ---- on: February 19, 2016, 10:09:04 PM
what's the total coins supply?

A total supply of 1,094,500 WARP.
that's the actual supply
with 1% POS it will grow over time to at least 1,618,000 WARP maximum
(just to avoid confusion)

I am guessing that the maximum supply of available Warp would make it more scarce, and thus it would have a very positive effect in price. This will be something interesting to watch over the upcoming days as it will prove to be a valuable crypto in the long term. That is why I am buying and staking Warp as much as I can! Also the development and community is doing pretty well, i'd say it has a very bright future.  Grin
11078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where to learn Bitcoin Programming? on: February 19, 2016, 10:03:19 PM
Princeton University is offering Bitcoin courses through coursera. There are other universities beginning to offer Bitcoin courses too.

https://www.coursera.org/course/bitcointech

Quote
After this course, you’ll know everything you need to be able to separate fact from fiction when reading claims about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. You’ll have the conceptual foundations you need to engineer secure software that interacts with the Bitcoin network. And you’ll be able to integrate ideas from Bitcoin in your own projects.

If you feel a university course is over the top there are books like Mastering Bitcoin Unlocking Digital-Cryptocurrencies that you could study. Also you will find a wealth of information on bitcointalk if you search through the different forum boards.

Great! Say about Universities offering Bitcoin courses, is there any that offers a degree or certification in Bitcoin or blockchain technology. It would be pretty neat to have such degree in order to get a better chance for employers looking to hire you in blockchain related jobs. Looking for MOOC courses that would offer this.  Smiley
11079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: February 19, 2016, 09:59:46 PM

We've already had the designs done Smiley

Looks awesome. I can't imagine how it will look like in real life. Say, any ETA on when would this happen? I am very curious to know since this will definitely serve as a medium to promote MUE to friends and family.  Smiley
Well it costs £400 to make 100 of them..which I can't afford Wink

They will be nice, big & heavy, a really nice collectors piece, just needs funding to get them minted, and then an outlet of some kind to sell them.

Great! Maybe after a successful crowdfunding for the cloud mining service that I'm going to release, I would spare a small percentage in order to help the MUE project. Then perhaps the physical coin could become a reality and help spread the awareness of MUE.  Smiley
11080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: RPi Zero BTC Node? on: February 19, 2016, 09:55:38 PM

Pine64 is sold out. 64+ and 64+ 2GB look really interesting and at a good price point and would definitely run a node... What I'm wondering is about the community support... I guess I'll eventually order one of these things to fiddle with nevertheless Smiley Waiting for reviews first, tho...

But I am guessing that the Pine64 is in pre-order and not officially released yet, right? If that is the case, then maybe there would be more of them in stock later. I would certainly love to own one, especially the one with 2GB of RAM. It will make the ideal one for a full BTC node.  Cheesy
