Well, let me ask you this, mister neutrality: How do you feel about immutability?

Immutability in this context will make anyone who is long (or short) an anonymous coin not neutral. That would include among other coins Monero. For this reason I do not consider myself neutral here, even though I do not hold any ETH or DAO.

What's interesting is that even though I have my own interests in certain coins and not in others, I do not care if ETH goes up or down.

My question was more of what will people do once they get their ETH back after the hard fork? Will it be a race to the exits?

I was genuinely interested in the psychology of people who had their ETH stolen and now will receive it back and what they will do with it.

I dont care if ETH goes to the moon or to hell.

By my own definition I am neutral as either outcome doesn't really benefit me (at least I don't see it that way).

If I were day trading ETH then sure I would be biased or if I owned some ETH too.

But neither of those claims as Mr. "Mayor" wanted to assert/assume are true.

Well, let me ask you this, mister neutrality: How do you feel about immutability?

I feel you need to be more specific on what you are asking and...

In regards to?

If you want to ask questions now perhaps you may want to be more specific about your question.

Now that you've decided to actually ask me as opposed to assuming things, please be clear on your question.

Please stop wasting my time by asking unclear questions.

Let me ask you a question: Do you always shoot first and then ask questions later?

Moreso do you ask unclear questions and then wait for people to attempt to get clarity?

Yeah, I tend to do that. But still...
Where's your cognitive humility, is all? Unless you're trying to move the market, I don't really get the point of this thread. It's a dead horse. When you claim to have no bias, it rings bells and makes you look silly. I'm not trying to be a dick. I promise.  Embarrassed

This thread is to ask a simple question.

Obviously you can't seem to take things at face value and are quick to assume there is an ulterior motive.

Let's hear how you'd help Jesus with Bitcoin.

Who said Jesus needs helps?

What is the cost of mining one XMR ?

Depends on what you are mining with and how much your electricity costs.

What does mining one XMR cost you?

Assuming you do mine.

If you want to share. No pressure.

It's pretty simple, any investment has risk.

Saying "you can make 8-15% return" is not a complete statement without saying "you could lose 100% of your investment as well".

Evan is simply trying to hook in uneducated investors to buy into his scheme.

Now where have we heard that before?

For me it boils down to being lazy.

Would I rather do aerobics for hours or do an anaerobic workout for 5-10minutes.

Being completely ubiased as I own 0 ETH

Cheesy

lol =)

I am unbiased. I have no vested interested in ETH or DAO or the outcome of it either way.

I'm calling it from a completely neutral stand point.

No skin in "this game".

Oh. You were serious. No offence dude, but that's not how bias works. There is no unbiased position here. Look closer.

In your opinion there is no unbias position.

You are welcome to believe that.

I believe I share your bias, but your refusal to acknowledge it isn't honest. You must be daytrading.
Carry-on. Roll Eyes

Assuming ones stance doesn't prove anything but how foolish you appear to me given you don't know what you are talking about.

Carry on Kiss

Honest admission doesn't come from projecting your assumptions upon others.

Perhaps you should admit that you are assuming and thus now possibly look foolish for doing such a thing instead of just asking me what I am or am not doing.

I won't bite.  Cheesy

1151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I think Ethereum will be finished after this attack on: July 17, 2016, 08:00:29 PM
no way you are so far off. Eth has so much money and talent behind it no way it is going anywhere it may go down but im sure they have plans for it to bring it right back after

They are trying their best to come it back to the track , and as it has some good supporters I am looking they are getting once again to the success, but people will for a long time feel a fear of hack at there.

Ethereum has a lot of user base behind it and they as far as I know are fanatics to it. Still this is not enough, as the hack has damaged so bad eth that it has seen a 40% decline so far. I don't think it will come back to where it were but it can go up to 0.021 BTC for sure in the coming months.

In the next few weeks, if the Ethereum price does not drop below 0.01, it will rise to 0.05 in the next few months.

In either scenario I don't see that happening.

Technical price chart shows lots of weakness. Lower highs and lower lows does not instill ATH price for a long time.
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Eth hardfork incoming - Race to the exits? on: July 17, 2016, 07:58:14 PM
They will hard fork to take funds away, how does this increase confidence as its an attack on the one core aspect of what makes a cryptocurrency a cryptocurrency: no central banks.

After the hard fork, people are more confident about the Ethereum. So I think the price will rise as a result.

Investors will get their funds back from the thief, so they will have more confidence in the Ethereum.

So what you are essentially saying is that having the same structure as a central bank is what instills confidence?

Why not just use the Federal reserve system?

After the hard fork, people are more confident about the Ethereum. So I think the price will rise as a result.

What constitutes "confidence"?

As a ETH/DAO investor (which I am not) the last 4 weeks would have been painstakingly irritating. Why would one who gets their funds returned not cash out (even some) because of fear?

I thought this was a technology project not a price project.
1156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I think Ethereum will be finished after this attack on: July 17, 2016, 07:01:26 PM
Ethereum will continue to slowly bleed out over next 26 days until the "stolen" ETH is available to be spent. The big bleedout will occur when one of two things happen:

1. Ethereum forks, either soft or hard, both would be disastrous to the long term viability of ETH. It would be a very dangerous precedent to set.
2. No action taken, the "stolen" funds become spendable and the attacker dumps them all on the market, because who the hell wants to sit on several million dollars worth of funny money?

Either scenario would involve a mass dump return and Ethereum back to sane pricing. Over 1 billion market cap for an unproven system was always unsustainable - this just hastened things along. I would not be surprised to see it go under $1 or $2 after all this is said and done. I worry what the community will do, since this situation is very similar to what happened with NXT, even though no fork was issued there, the community was split down the middle and the coin never recovered.

Time will tell. Ethereum still has a long term chance if they do not fork, and the community does not divide itself, though it will take a long time to recover from this market shock. Very unfortunate situation for all involved, but maintaining fungibility should take priority over everything else.

Now 30 days later and your prediction on price has been proven to be true. Price is now 0.01625BTC/ETH and it was 0.027BTC/ETH right before the hack.

Thats a 39.8% decline.

I expect it to fall further in the months to come. Not sure if it can ever recover by setting this precedent with the hard fork.
1157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH hardfork incoming. on: July 17, 2016, 06:55:31 PM
the price will go down if:

A. They do not fork as the dao hacker will likely sell all that ETH

B. They do fork and those people who recover their funds from the hack will sell their ETH because they are scared and want out of a broken system/project.

Heads you lose, tails you lose.

They just lose less if they do A because then there reputation isn't now tarnished with "do-overs" and rollbacks that can happen in the future should there be another hack down the road.

Why are people buying this stuff up to this price? Like you, I can't see the uncertainly immediately after the fork helping anything. So why is this price riding so high? I think it's being manipulated up for the short of the century.

My guess: There are a lot of financial interests at hand that have a bias with the price going up as opposed to down.

But I think this whole DAO hack fiasco has been ETH's "mtgox moment".

Its not the same thing but it sure feels the same from a sentiment standpoint as far as a crisis is concerned.

With the ETH hardfork incoming in roughly 3 days time, will the people who had their ETH stolen by the Dao Hack sell?

Being completely ubiased as I own 0 ETH if I was to hypothetically put myself into the shoes of the people who lost ETH and are now getting it back due to the hard fork, I would probably be a seller.

I'm curious what others think.

Is this a case of a race to the exits?

they also invented the ETH rollback / hardfork ... what is VRM?

They invented the roll back?? You mean Bitcoin never rolled back?  Also VRC rolled back due to a theft not due to poor code that was exploited.  But all that matters is market cap not facts.

Rolling back due to theft is not a good enough reason to destroy the social contract. It sets a precedent for future thefts.

Having a block chain where you have "do-overs" is no better than using the current federal reserve funny munny system.
