$1400 (shipping included) mystery box or your choice of the equivalent value of stuff (shipping included) off http://fs.tbz1.com ?

I appreciate the offer, but nothing I need to have in particular is sticking out at me. I love the spirit though, thanks for taking the time.
1142  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Selmer La Voix II Alto Sax beautiful Black Nickle finish on: July 03, 2016, 02:38:01 PM
Thanks but Lol, why would I need that photoshoped image?

I am in Mexico my nephew in spain.

If I'm being honest, I decided to take up the saxophone after watching St.Elmo's Fire with Rob Lowe rocking the sax, and then Bill Clinton playing on something else. Its inspirational.
1143  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Selmer La Voix II Alto Sax beautiful Black Nickle finish on: July 03, 2016, 02:24:13 PM
Okay, I will talk with my nephew to know if he wants it. Around 2.2 BTC for this magnificent piece is not bad.  Smiley

Cool, thanks. Let me know if you need any additional photos, details, or just want me to help you photoshop a picture of you or your nephew with this sax over a famous picture of Bill Clinton playing the sax or something like that.

That is a nice Sax, an estimate worldwide shipping what would be ? Smiley, so you are looking for 2 BTCs with the current price?

Yes, looking for about 2 BTC. I listed in USD since Bitcoin is going up and down quite a bit. Let me know to which country, and I'll get you a shipping quote.
1146  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling Selmer La Voix II Alto Sax beautiful Black Nickle finish on: July 03, 2016, 01:27:16 PM
Do you play?

I've always been fond of the sax, never played one though.

I'm not too bad. By no means a professional though. I'm one of those people who can pick up any instrument and be able to play it relatively well in a day or two. The Sax is one of my favorite instruments though. The range of sounds it can produce are beautiful. I originally start playing brass instruments. They are fine and all, but they have relatively well defined pitches that they sound best at. As long as you aren't honking on the reed, the sax sounds great in tenor or baritone.

I'll take a random slot as well. With any luck, the prize is a credit card bill of yours or something similar.  Smiley

For sale is my Selmer La Voix II Alto Sax with black/gold nickle finish and mother of pearl inlaid keys. Its a drop dead gorgeous instrument with spectacular sound. As a semi professional model, its suitable for a wide range of players. Great for new players that want an instrument that wont limit them as they grow, up to well... semi professional players. Its in spectacular shape, no dings, nicks, scratches, or dents, and the cork is in good shape. The only wear is on the keys, where the wear should be.The MSRP on this Sax is in the $3k range, with some of the larger stores offering them for around $2.5k. I'm looking for   ,Gold/Silver, USD, or trade (surprise me!). That includes shipping to the US. I'm not sure what foreign shipping would cost, but I can easily get you a quote if needed. I'm content to use escrow with a mutually accepted reputable escrow agent. Included is the manufacturer's case, metal/plastic mouth piece, a couple boxes of spare reeds and various other cleaning supplies and such that I have. Everything will be disinfected before shipping, as I don't need you making a clone of me... I mean, so its sanitary.

If you have any questions, comments, insults, etc to share, feel free to let me know. I can get more pictures on request.

*Update*

I've lowered the price by $100, and will now include some bonus special secret surprises with the purchase of this Sax. They will be good surprises, nothing bad/dangerous/illegal etc.

1150  Other / Meta / Re: Graffitti to unban Dank! (Gleb Gamow on crack) on: May 02, 2016, 02:03:29 PM
I shudder to fathom what dank would be like in person. His name has been used as a casual joke many times, so I've seen. But Gleb on crack? If this guy was unbanned, every post of his I read I would lower my IQ by 10.

No offence Gleb.

If you read over his posts, I can guarentee you know how he is in person. His forum posts are in no way an act. I did a small BTC > USD trade with him once, and he threw cash into a priority flaterate box, covered it with $8 worth of forever stamps and threw it into someone else's mailbox with no tracking, no receipt, no proof that the person didn't just take the package out of their own mailbox. Just about died laughing when it showed up after he gave me a wall of text telling me incredibly vaguely that he didn't ship it, but instead was relying on his faith that it would arrive.

Anyway, as badbear said, the memories are real. I'm pretty sure if he requested to be unbanned and there was any sign that he was now too fried to derail other's topics, he'd probably be allowed a second chance. Though, I'd say chances are good he'd be rebanned pretty quickly.

I'd love to see it in action! I could probably get you a few (hundred?) million dollars for it if you would give a demonstration of the unit you have with schematics.
1152  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to be an escrow? on: April 09, 2016, 02:46:05 PM
It happens when your reputation becomes worth more than the total of the amounts you are escrowing. The best way to assure that you aren't going to run off with someone's 1 BTC you are escrowing, is if you stand to lose a lot more by scamming. Thats why a lot of people who do escrow around here run successful businesses, do a lot of dealing in the marketplace, etc.
1153  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get a background check here? on: April 04, 2016, 11:23:28 PM
The forum values privacy and anonymity which would go against the disclosing all of someone's alts. It is also not very difficult to hide the fact that a particular account is your alt.

The forum is also not in the business of moderating scams which is part of what you are proposing would do.

Mexxer-2's "alts" thread is literally a witch hunt, and the posts by individual contributors are often incorrect and use very flawed logic. Although I have not really looked into how accurate the alts listed in the OP are. I am honestly disappointed that the thread was stickied.
I believe the fact that the forum doesnt "moderate scams" or moderate acct sales and other things is half the problem. Users 100% know that they can come in here and fuck someone over with little to no consequences and just make a new acct and start all over. Its time we stand upand do something
Totally agree with you sir.  It's a bizarre stance in my opinion and yes, scammers flock to this place--and so do the suckers.  But you get mods and everyone else who defend the status quo to the death.  There's a lot of features/functions on this forum that are broken and some people just don't see it.  It'd be nice if Theymos chimed in or someone else with pull.

Status Quo tends to start for a reason. It becomes an issue when the philosophy it is basing itself off of becomes outdated or obsolete. Exposing people's alt accounts like that isn't something we'd do. Something I see come up a lot is comparing rules/features here to those of other forums/sites. Think about the demographics of a poker site vs Bitcointalk. Which are more likely to be tech savvy and know how to get around any identifying measures in place? It would show tons of false flags based on people that have used Tor, those who want to hide their Alts would just be more careful, and people would be lured into a false sense of security.

If you are always on your toes, its a lot harder to get scammed. You let your guard down the moment someone says, "yeah you are safe".
1154  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-03-04] The Bitcoin Halving Doomsday Scenario on: April 03, 2016, 05:47:41 PM
This article is pretty much exactly like what was going around before the last halving. Everyone does know that Bitcoin started with 50 coins per block, and a halving has already taken place right? Last halving, there was no major change in the hash rate, and the Bitcoin price stayed constant for a little while. That said, the price increased rather dramatically a few months before the halving.

I'd expect the same thing will happen again this time around. If I had to take a stab at it, Bitcoin price will go up within the next month in preparation from the halving. It makes common sense to people with the block reward halved, fewer BTC come into circulation every day, increase in scarcity, price should increase. They will stock up on coins like I said a month or two before the halving. The increased price will keep miners mining even after the halving, and then the price will find a normal point.

The nature of ASICs in themselves makes it semi rediculous for people to believe that people will just stop mining. If you stop mining, then you just have the machines laying around. As long as their power consumption doesn't cost more than they mine per day, people are going to keep mining. Even if the network hash dropped, it would just be mildly inconvient until the next retarget.

It was interesting to speculate on the outcome the first time the halving occured, but why do people believe that under the same circumstances, things will be different this time around?

*edit* Just grabbed a difficulty chart from the first halving. The first halving was November 28th 2012, the chart view is September 2012 to Feb 2013

And heres the price from June 2012 to Feb 2013. I backed it up a few months so you could see what I meant about the price increase before the halving, staying pretty constant for a while after, and then the price adjusted.

1155  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: April 01, 2016, 08:23:42 PM
Something to add, a pending update on an outdated rule: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134779.0

We really haven't followed that rule in some time, requiring a user to be reputable or be vouched before being able to sell accounts isn't a very ideal method. Based on implied meaning from some comments Theymos has made in the past, the issue isn't with account/invite sellers themselves, its with the possibility that the accounts will be hacked.

We don't care about other company's TOS, but hacking is pretty much globally illegal, and under the no illegal goods rule, hacked accounts are not allowed to be sold here. A few warning signs that accounts are hacked, are the notorious "Don't change the account details" or Log out when you are done, etc lines.

Of course, still waiting on Theymos' clarification on that one, but it was an issue that came up recently and the staff discussed it and gathered info leading us to the conclusion above.

1159  Other / Meta / Re: I'd like to know who is censoring me and why on: April 01, 2016, 01:40:30 AM
Mmmm, I remember looking at that report and being on the fence as to whether it was off topic or not. A topic that is not about the OP is considered off topic. However, you were discussing a matter that was somewhat related with the creator of the thread. I think the fact that you replied after the OP said "this will be my last response to you in this thread" is why the post was deleted.

*edit*

Is there anything to protect the user from being moderated unfairly?

What is your opinion on deleting such a post?

What if this moderator is a member, or has an alt account which is a member of the highest paying signature campaign which is for a site that is run unethically?

Edit: This is in no way meant to come off as an attack on Lupin, but after re-reading it think it may come off that way.

These are just real questions I have.

Theymos is the oversight, and rather strict oversight at that. He pretty much solves the issue of users being moderated unfairly and moderators with alterior motives. I doubt he doesn't check to see if we have multiple accounts to make sure none of our alts are doing anything seedy. There have been times when I deleted a bunch of posts in a row, rightfully of course, and within minutes had a PM from Theymos asking what it was all about.
1160  Other / Meta / Re: What is a Proxyban? on: March 31, 2016, 11:11:40 PM
As others have said, yes it is real, and its purpose is as an anti bot measure. Units of evil accumulate when an account created by a certain IP is banned, so in theory if someone creates 100 accounts, tries to spam, and they get banned, the IPs they used are hit with units of evil. Rather than disallowing people to create accounts via Tor or VPN, this system was introduced. Essentially, it is very inexpensive for users to create a single account (you said around 2 cents in your case) but should someone want to create 1000 accounts, it starts to add up. As designed, it is made so that someone could easily collect the funds needed to register an account via Tor/VPN etc just hitting a couple of faucets. But expensive for those that want to test the moderator response time with ads and other annoying spam posts. More Units of evil = higher cost to register the account.
