Why doesn't someone who wants to operate vending machines also operate a mining rig that specifically prioritizes confirms from transactions from it's vending machines? This way, it could release the goods immediately from receiving the btc and then expedite the confirmations thus minimizing risk of double spends.
Because you don't know how mining works

1)Yup
2)There are some plans to prune the blockchain
Anyway, you can use a lightweight wallet like Multibit

The problem with slow confirmations is because of a little amount of nodes. When Bitcoin will become somewhat popular, then you could get the confirmations much quicker (especially the ones in the limit of an ISP/city/region[or state]/country)
Wrong. The word "confirmation" means "block"

Put the encrypted wallet on some webservices, like gmail, skydrive etc. And do a paperwallet.

i think that is 0.000008361
But why does it have letters? The rest of the history is in the normal format, whereas three are just like that? Scientific notation, so mysterious

Gold is safe if you physically own it. In your home for example. If you only own a piece of paper then it is not safe.
While with bitcoin, you OWN the bitcoins even with a simple paperwallet.

Mining is not a get rich quick scheme, if it is epic profitable then of course more people start mining and the network difficulty increase
|
|

Nah, in a pool shares are just difficult 1 blocks. Used as proof of work to pay you. Unrelated to the bitcoin network difficulty

This thread is old but there are always newbies so it is good for them.
There is a reason why to buy bitcoins on exchanges you have to use slow and difficulty ways like sepa, wire transfers etcetc and you can't just sell them on ebay or for paypal payments: SCAMS!

He bought at 138, now it is at 145 and increasing. He is profiting right now. What the hell did he expect, to become the new Bill Gates in two weeks? Bitcoin is NOT a get rich quick scheme. Also buying at 138 and NOT buying at 50? Looks like he applied the "buy high" tactic

Syncing=downloading the whole blockchain, wich contains all the transactions ever happened. Right now the bitcoin chain is like 8GB big and the client also verify it while it download it. No wonder syncing LTC or PPC is much faster, almost no one use them

It would be a good idea to backup and archive this whole forum, since the beginning. History of bitcoin is here. This forum contains the information about how a new currency has born and gained value from 0

You can encrypt the key before printing it on a paperwallet Same for the website. If a website store private keys in plain text, their fault. well what if one day someone does generate the same private key as myself. it is possible right? It takes more time than the life of the universe
