1161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CAUTION: If the exchange you are using doesn't list BIP148 you are being SCAMMED on: June 02, 2017, 05:47:32 AM
Aren't miners the ones forking with the Bitcoin SegWit2x?

Miners will never do anything to scale bitcoin because it would mean they lose money on fees, which is why bitcoin can only scale by force (UASF)

you guys are funny.  exchanges aren't going to support bip148 because they would be forking themselves from the main chain.

This is nonsense. UASF is happening august 1 independently on what you think about it. If you have customers holding BTC in your exchange and you don't give them their equivalent of holdings in the UASF chain, you are robbing them. If UASF wins, it will end badly for those not supporting UASF coins.

exchange were very clear about supporting the original fork and UASF is against what the dev core think and therefore the original fork, if they are not going to support it why we should worry about? our coin are safe there if not for hackers

besides you need enough node to have UASF doing something significant and create a minority fork, this explain well what will going to happen https://medium.com/@jimmysong/bitcoin-uasf-and-skin-in-the-game-7695031c5689
1162  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think ISIS uses Bitcoin? on: June 02, 2017, 05:42:02 AM
LOL.
as long as there is the good old US dollar which is untraceable, anonymous, easy to obtain, use and spend literary anywhere in the world, why would anyone with malicious intents want to use bitcoin which is traceable, not anonymous, hard to obtain, use and spend?!

what's is untraceable about USD exactly? unless you are talking about counterfeiting, there is nothign anonimous about using usd, it can be traced easily, the only thing is that it can be obtained easily too

because unlike bitcoin, you don't need to "buy" dollars, bitcoin need to be bought first, and i'm sure that by doing this they would first increase the value and second expose themselves more
1163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE BEST BITCOIN WALLET on: June 02, 2017, 05:39:04 AM
I highly recommend bitcoin core
Any reason why? I never liked heavy wallets, because there's no reason to use them really, if you're a normal guy that just want's to make a quick transaction once a while.
They take too much time to load up and they don't even close instantly and need too much disk space.

well this is wrong in all aspect, first they don't take too much space you use prune mode and save a lot of giga, i reduced my to 6 giga only, just to have time to change wallet in case i need to

second with any recent ssd and quad core, everyone has these today, you can fire it up pretty quickly, therefore there is no heavy load issue either, the only bad thign is that at the first laucnh you need to download the entire 130 GB or so of the blockchain..
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Real life usage of bitcoin on: June 02, 2017, 05:36:01 AM
bitcoin is very suited for internet shopping, where you don't need 1 second confirmations, if you pay the correct fee 10 minute confirmations is very fast for any shopping done online

the only problem is the damn coffee or soem case of real life usage, but bitcoin is not good yet for micro transactions we all know this, speculation is good now for bitcoin, it help the value grow where it should be

when segwit + LN will be operative you will get to buy everything with it without much trouble, see micro transaction as a bonus
1165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 6 GPU rig AsRock Z97 Extreme 6 Windows 10 on: June 01, 2017, 10:37:35 AM
do you need to change something in the bios to get the gpu recognized? i can't get them to work with my extreme 4
1166  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting bitcoin mining ready to invest 30 k or more on: June 01, 2017, 10:30:50 AM
altcoin mining is better for now, but minign bitcoin directly still give you a decent profit with the current value of bitcoin and also give you the possibility to support the network or show support for segwit or BU

with that electricity i think you can invest relatively safe in a s9, since there will not be any stronger miner than this for many months you should be only worried about the diff, which is always following the value

if you can get those s9 second hand would be even better, something like around $1200-1500
1167  Economy / Speculation / Re: If They Solve the BTC Scaling Problem (Soon and Correctly), How High Do We Go? on: June 01, 2017, 10:25:30 AM
It depends on when that good solution is achieved. If this happened in the next two months the price would surpass the $3000 for sure and possibly would end up near the $4000, it would even surpass that mark, at least in the Asian markets. If I had to say a figure I would say anyone between $ 3500 and $ 4000.

it also depends if there will be a chain split or two coins and stuff like that, because getting 2x bitcoin will not sure be helpful to have a higher value, there will be a dump and the value will tank at least at first

Block size is not an issue, stop spreading FUD.

this if you think that the current value would not be higher if the block limit was already solved, while i agree that the majority who trade don't really care, the average joe who buy a few amount and send small amount here and there do care about this
1168  Economy / Speculation / Re: the biggest Forex broker in the world is adding bitcoin, and it is in Japan on: June 01, 2017, 10:22:55 AM
it's also new to e that in japan GMO is the biggest forex broker worldwide, i always thought that forex trading was the biggest in the USA and small in every other country

the question is if they will be trading real bitcoins or some bitcoin cfds

it should still bring the attention to bitcoin, i suspect they will not trade real bitcoin, but cfds like you said, to give better leverage, all the broker that trade bitcoin directly have a very low leverage and in forex, investors like to have 500x leverage
1169  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: tax on bitcoin profits in spain (and other EU countries)? on: June 01, 2017, 05:38:51 AM
the majority of countries in europe did not recognized bitcoin properly, and they still seems to ignore it, here in italy we don't have any regulation about bitcoin, and also appear to be no taxes to pay on capital gain unless you go above a threshold

i suspect other country just apply the usual capital gain when you trade, and for mining you can go ahead and ignore anything as long you don't convert, if you convert just declare what yo get in a year to avoid trouble
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Aug 1st and forward effect on current holdings on: June 01, 2017, 05:33:51 AM
So regardless if anything, should you store them in a hard wallet?
If yes, and the world changes in terms of blockchains, splits etc isnt there a chance your offline keys can be worthless or problematic to cash or convert in the future since you stored them one way back in the day and now things work differently, code is different etc.

Also if you don't control your key anymore, what does that mean then to me?
What is the best offline hard wallet recommended?

as long as you own the private key it doesn't matter where you store them, you can always retrieve them at any time, just keep them safe and wait for the split, nothing should happen to your coins

to make it simple i would secure those coins in a simple usb stick to not have to worry about anything

If I were holding a large amount of Bitcoins worth millions of dollars, I would start cashing out right now before it's too late.
Think about it deeply, either split happens and value halves in less than half of the current value or everything will go smooth.
But if split happens then imagine that your coins will be priced 50% less for almost 2-3 years before the market gains the trust and starts growing again.
Are you willing to put millions of dollars on hold for 2-3 years?

Is this really what everyone expects to happen, a 50% drop?
What is the effect on ETH LTC? Same ?

no the ETH dropped for another reason not because there was a "split", it dropped because of the hacker

i don't think the value will drop even after the split, if it was the case people should have already panic and sell now
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS TRAVELING PLACES!!! on: June 01, 2017, 05:25:53 AM
Japan is currently the only country where the government have opened their doors to Bitcoin with little or no limitations. The rest of the world have crippled the technology with strict rules based on KYC/AML regulations. Some still have issues with it's definition as a currency or a commodity. ^hmmmmm^

India had a heated debate on the subject this week and Russia is still considering it's options.

australia and russia are enar to come to follow the same path as japan, other country will be left behind, besides we don't need all the country to accept bitcoin as a currency to have it go "to the moon"

if the strongest country or the most noteable acecpt it as a currency, increasing to 50k, or 100k would be a joke, even if now it sounds hard to do

i guess Amph is stealing electricity, would not surprise me Wink

not a thing i can do, but my logic make sense

waiting mean lose money, a 1080ti can do $350 a month, this mean that every month without a 1080ti you are losing $350, never wait in mining it doesn't matter what they are going to release

Actually that the page I am on. One thing I try to decide is a single 1080Ti or 2x1080.

Comparison:

Pricing: Almost same (wher I live)

Mining: 2x1080 should do 900-1100 (based on calculators and user experiences)
1x 1080Ti is around 700 (though I read some modified miner can do 1000 with 1 card)

Power Consumption: GTX 1080Ti wins over dual 1080.

Gaming: GTX 1080Ti of course (since my mobo does not support SLI)

If I can really make 350 with a single 1080ti that would be awesome but I reckon it is somewhere around 270-300USD based on other experiences. 350USD is when everything is very efficient and optimized and with some luck maybe.

a 1080ti can do 1giga in skein, one giga can earn you 0.18 btc a month(on yiimp it say 0.006 a day x 30 is 0.18), $2k per btc that is $360 a month, electricity is negligeable...
1174  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Baikal A-900 Giant on: May 31, 2017, 03:03:28 PM
yeah especially if you think that even with the new asic x11 that is 12x faster you still have an edge over it because you can mine qubit quark and other algo that the other giant asic can't mine

selling this asic, this thing still earn 0.01 so my price will be based on roi time and not USD value, i'm aiming to give 6 months roi which i find it a resoanable

price = 2BTC shipping is included, i ship everywhere

ah i have the super jeststream which go to 300watt, actually i can't test it well because it's my primarely gpu for gaming, which is connected to a 1440p and is running many stuff like a vmware etc...

probably i can do more if it was the second gpu
1178  Economy / Speculation / Re: When 21BTC = $1,000,000. If on: May 31, 2017, 06:28:09 AM
Predicting a state of economic value. When. If.

So just under $50k per bitcoin, almost 25 times what it is now... that would require a market cap of something like $875 billion, a little more than $AAPL stock. I think that is possible but not in the current bubble we are in right now. Maybe if we see another bubble in 4-5 years it could hit something close to that. I think this would require an ETF to exist and a lot of new bitcoin investors to pile onto the train. Not impossible though.

next halving should be the perfect target for that, assuming we can build the base for that value, right now we are too far away form it, we need first to reach 10k, to go then to 50k with a certain stability

otherwise we are just asking for a pump and dump, which is not good, and get away new investors, if we consider that we increase 10x from 2012 to 2016(200-->1300-->again 200 and now 2k), it should be possible to do 20k by 2020 or more
1179  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoins and Video games on: May 31, 2017, 06:25:12 AM
How i can make or win bitcoins by selling or doing specifics things in a Video game? i want to know what games and the metods to do this possible Smiley

Games are games, they are not meant for making money, this results in:

a) high requirements of turning them into a real source of income - becoming a pro gamer or professional streamer;

b) low profit and very routine work - grinding, faucet games, etc.

If you are extremely skilled in some online games, you can offer a boosting service - earn money for increasing rating for someone's account. Also you can check out platforms like FirstBlood that allow you to challenge people and play for money, but remember that there's always someone better than you.

well that's not true, you can play many video game and earn a lot now with bitcoin so high in value, some offering come from DGB like it was for hyper, you play video game and get paid in DGB based on the number of kill you do or the score you get

for csgo is the kill for LOL is the score, you can also make money by betting on game with esport, on nitrogensport, there are plenty of ways to make money with videogame, just look around

what about other gpu? my 1080ti can do 1gh but i think it should be more
Palit js 1080ti 1050mhs@250w, all that more 4mhs/watt is good

what tdp? 90-100%?
