Just because he signs a message it doesn’t prove anything. I could do something bad, claim I was hacked & sign a message from an address owned by me, linked to this account since 2014. What does that prove?

You're right, it doesn't, but lets look at this objectively. Does he have any real reason to so this, and then spam message various people about it? I can't be certain for sure but I'd lean towards his account being compromised in some way as it doesn't really make sense to me why he would do this. Of course I could be wrong but he knew he would make a lot of enemies/lose friends here and also probably compromise the reputation of his account in the process. Take note of nutildah's post above as well about the smiley etc. I think he just got stung here. The question now is who hacked his account because that is some pretty shady stuff over some petty shit.
1182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: August 03, 2020, 11:27:13 AM
I agree with guys who are saying that single game gives advantage to underdogs. It's just 90 minutes of football. While in 2 leg series, teams with better and more deep squad have advantage.
And I agree about Atalnta, maybe I will even make bet for their win. It's enough to see how they are playing after restart - 6 wins in 6 games. While PSG didn't played for so long, it will be difficult for them to return in action. BTW, Lyon are same situation. Otherwise I wouldn't write them off against Juventus.
And single leg fixtures is bad for our pool - it means there will be less games, what makes too difficult to change our positions. Now it's impossible to reach @big_daddy
What's annoying though is that they've seemingly arranged all the games to kick off at the same time. What's the point in that? There's four games kicking off at the same time on the 12th. Now we've gotta choose which game. They should have played them all on different days to maximise viewing.
Where did you find it. I see that all quarterfinals will be played at different days, on 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th.

Quarters might be but not the rest of the games before it:

I would have liked to watch all those matches. I'll probably watch the City/Madrid and Barca/Napoli as I think those will be more entertaining/closer.

Just giving this thread a little bumpski to get us back in the CL zone  Smiley

2 matches next Friday -

Juventus v Lyon - can’t see Juve losing this, but if Lyon do lose , it will be their first season without European football since 96/97 - maybe an extra incentive ?

Man City v Real Madrid - really tough to call this one, gotta assume pedigree will take Real through ?

What about City's pedigree? They've been on fire recently as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Real went through but it's going to be a hell of a tough game for them playing away and also with a goal deficit to get past. Isn't Ramos suspended as well. Either way my money is on City here.
1183  Economy / Reputation / Re: LFC_bitcoin sending PMs to his friends to oppose flag and bribing DT inclusion on: August 03, 2020, 11:10:40 AM
Here is what's wrong with the "i was hacked" story:

If somebody gets your pass and logs in to your account, you don't get a warning email as far as I know.

So there is absolutely no reason to change the original owner's password. The hacker can collect his data silently and the original owner won't notice anything unless he checks his IP logs.

But then you don't have access to that account if he ever changes the password. Maybe he gave the account over to someone else for proof, and then they took the screenshots and screen recording. A lot of this doesn't make sense. Why would he go that far to shit on LFC even providing a video to remove any doubt people may have had?

BitcoinGirl.Club changes their password fairly regularly, so they'd be hard pressed to claim their account was hacked (or sold for that matter)
Bitcoingirl.club AKA Pamoldar was already mentioned in the past as one of farming accounts:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=662330                                          Pamoldar

What's the proof for that though? Looks to just be sign-up dates unless I'm missing something, which could lead to false positives.

Anyway, it doesn't sound like real account owner sent messages:
Quote from: bitcoingirl.club
This is beyond my expectation! [...],BitcoinGirl.Club, [...], [...] are protecting sportsbet.io secretly.
It's beyond bitcoingirl's expectation that bitcoingirl protects sportsbet? Wth?

I tagged account, I won't break my head over this too much.

Yeah, that did look like it came from a third party. Does anyone talk to him off-forum anywhere? Probably best to try get his version of events from there if his account has been compromised in whatever way.
1184  Economy / Reputation / Re: LFC_bitcoin sending PMs to his friends to oppose flag and bribing DT inclusion on: August 03, 2020, 09:03:49 AM
It's worth pointing out that BitcoinGirl.Club's password was reset via email just over 1 hour before the above post by Side chain.

Not sure if significant or relevant.

First thing I thought when I saw that that it may have been compromised.

He may forge a story...

"I WAS HACKED"

I suppose it is plausible it was hacked, though I guess both scenarios are. I'm not sure why BitcoinGirl.Club would expose this to a newbie though. Why would he do that's and what's in it for him, especially when I thought those two were pals at least? He just spammed a PM to 14+ people as well which seems odd and is asking for trouble if someone reports it.
1185  Other / Meta / Re: Huge donations to bitcointalk on: July 31, 2020, 01:42:28 PM
You don't need to use google ads. Theymos doesn't seem keen on adding additional revenue sources anyway, but you could just add more banners here if you wanted more income from adverts. As I suggested before, having one at the top of sub boards would be lucrative and companies can target what areas they want to advertise in ie a gambling company would advertise in a gambling board.

Yes, that's pretty viable. Another way is to also feature sponsored/ prioritized posts or stickies to boost their presence.

Theymos mentioned before he didn't want to do sponsored/prioritised or stickied posts, hence why I suggested the sub board ads as a compromise.

By the way, theymos solely determines the advertisers (from the bidding), right?

Yes.

I'm not sure what that means.

I think what he meant that it's style of censorship; mods deleting at their own discretion.

I dunno. This forum is pretty liberal when it comes to staff and normally people get away with more than they should, but I guess some people feel censored whenever they have any post removed even it if was against the rules. I've seen people hysterically cry over having a ref link removed or even claim having their thread moved to the correct sub board is 'censorship'.
1186  Other / Meta / Re: Huge donations to bitcointalk on: July 31, 2020, 01:17:50 PM
I guess you OP you though of the donation is only for the mods and upper devs, you just can't believe the huge amount it received not thinking about the expenses they need to manage the forum.  Besides that is where mods are getting paid, they have job and it's not easy to maintain the forum's quality and credibility so why not donate some? @theymos is presenting the website's expenses every year, you might just want to look for those. Thanks to those people who have donated  Wink you guys are pretty awesome and supportive.

What if the donators get tired and do not donate anymore, how would the moderators be able to be paid?

The forum has - if I recall correctly - over a million dollars in reserve. Besides, the donations don't pay mods; it's from ad revenue.

What if the donators get tired and do not donate anymore, how would the moderators be able to be paid?

If the forum has no more money, or if Theymos decides to stop paying mods, some will leave, others will stay. In what proportion ? I don't know.

The staff payments are just encouragement to stay around and keep working. Without some form of compensation most mods would probably fizzle away eventually, or the work they do would take a backseat. I've moderated a few boards before and I've never been paid on those ones, and mods get tired eventually or just disappear. It's often a thankless task and you're more likely to make more enemies than friends but getting paid is a good reason to stay around and do a good job.

Forum software?? Mods?? Why should both get paid? Isn't smf free? I haven't heard any other mod to get paid.

We have to pay for the psychiatrist's sessions if we want to keep doing the job Smiley.
Grin

That new forum is a fortune and I believe there is only one developer?

I'm not sure what the current situation with the forum development  is. There was a team I believe that was hired but I don't know whether they're still involved or to what capacity.

Personally, despite the frequent requests to reduce the donation amount required for a rank I've always respected the fact that it hasn't happened, and the stance has been relatively firm.

We could add different/new donator ranks. Many of us have suggested things like Silver and Gold Memberships. Personally I think they would be very popular/lucrative and would also curb account sales as people would just buy the membership instead of risking it buying an account which is already a shady market.

Start using Google Ads and scammers will use it to advertise phishing websites pretending to be Ledger and Trezor. Search "Ledger" on Google and sometimes you will get a scam website asking for your seed. We don't need Newbies coming here, saying that they got scammed by an ad they saw on the forum (also, ponzis).

Google sucks. At least theymos knows what he is doing when he accepts someone's banner in the ad rounds.

Another thing is that Google only allows certified licensed gambling websites to advertise their businesses. So lack of competition and more repetition of ads.

The moderation system here is becoming like stackoverflow.

I'm not sure what that means.
1187  Other / Meta / Re: buying back my account on: July 31, 2020, 12:03:44 PM
This is a lifetime ban? It won't run out anytime? I just want to make sure that noone but me can use that account to post anything further etc. I have an LBC account dating back to the end of 2012 with the same usermame and again its just sentimental to me thats all. If anyone wanted to question my charges im an open book, I've never done anything wrong by anyone all my life and this person that took my account has obviously ripped people off using my alias which is personal to me.

Currently, yes. I'm not sure what it was banned for though. Maybe someone else does. No person will be able to use the account unless the ban is lifted. Admins can over-turn it so maybe contact theymos and cyrus with the signed message and details and maybe they will remove the ban or at least return the account to you. Don't spam them about it though.
1188  Other / Meta / Re: buying back my account on: July 31, 2020, 11:18:27 AM
Can I ask someone a favour from anyone reading please. To msg this user and invite him to this conversation as I cannot msg him direct 🙏

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=106038

Spartan82, you cant receive msgs from newbies so im msging here instead. Im the original owner of this account.. would you be interested in selling it back to me? You have accumulated plenty of negative feedback now but it has SOME sentimental value to me. I went to jail for 3yrs and a bit and found that my password had been changed and it is now with a new owner. You lol so I would like to buy my account back off you, if you interested let me know.
I did try to msg Theymos to no avail, was willing to verify ownership of an old bitcoin address associated with this account that was used to purchase a bunch of direct AM shares from SebastianJu in 2013. 25BTC worth to be exact. I had the famous friedcat transfer these to my havelockinvestments account and ended up selling them for about 0.2BTC. So have mercy on me, I've had some ridiculous losses. I still have access to that havelock account too!

Not sure I would have told everyone you went to prison but I guess at least you're honest. That account is banned though so probably useless to you really. Not sure what it's banned for but it's probably out of action forever unless you can convince an admin to give you it back. Maybe theymos will see this thread and chime in but your chances of getting it back are slim, and it is currently unusbale unless it's unbanned, though I guess if you just wanted access to it it might be achievable.
1189  Other / Meta / Re: Hide posts and topics on: July 31, 2020, 11:13:52 AM
You advertise a campaign for what ... if every post and topic you hide from everyone
I did not say to hide all posts from everyone, but only some of them if you want.
I say this because I recently saw some users deleting thousands of their post concerned about their privacy.
Some alternative for this would be nice

This is a public discussion forum. If you're worried about your privacy you shouldn't be posting things that can identify you but if you're that concerned about privacy you shouldn't be posting them to a message board hidden or not because they can be intercepted in a number or ways. If you want to do this either hold things in a draft, message them to yourself or even better just keep a digital notepad with this stuff written down but I don't see the point of having it as a forum feature.

So you mean people are deleting their old post? But there's no way you can get escaped of LoyceV archive since it will automatically archive a post once posted. So, if you post a thread public at the beginning, that will be accessible by archived version and if you create a thread with hiding from everyone (guess it has been implememted), what's the purpose of your thread? None. Then, we are good with what we have now I think.

Looks at this member who deleted almost all of his posts: BobLawblaw
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5263490.0

Yes people can still find posts in LoyceV archives or archived with wayback machine but it is not exactly the same.

What do you mean by privacy?
If someone is privacy oriented, then they should not create any username that links them, should use tor browser when visiting the forum and shouldn't post any sensitive personal information in the forum. It's that simple.

All the stuff about the amount of information the forum retains and how best one can practice privacy in the forum can be got here: https://bitcointalk.org/privacy.php
Maybe he made a mistake or posted his wallet address or some other sensitive information in past and he wants to hide it now.
Moderators can hide post and move them right?

But regardless of whether we allowed this feature or not some users would still decide at later date that they might now want they posted to be available. People are free to delete them but people should be careful whatever they post online as once it's out there it's likely there forever as some site or another will likely be indexing or archiving it.
1190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 31, 2020, 11:05:11 AM
All payments have been sent apart from tomahawk's and BitcoinGirl.Club's which I've messaged them about. I'll try get a the new pool up and running over the weekend but might be sometime next week. 3 companies offered sponsorship deals but all are slightly different with certain caveats so just trying to get the best deal for us all.

For those in the Champion's League pool don't forget that starts up this time next week.
1191  Other / Meta / Re: "Forum User's Day" on: July 28, 2020, 12:22:05 PM
This seems just like a reddit AMA aka Ask Me Anything. I don't think it would be a bad idea, though I think it should be voluntary. It would be interesting if a nominated user could set a day where they have a few hours to answer questions 'live' from any user, or maybe even better just let users post their questions in advance maybe over a week and that person could answer the ones they want at some point when they have time.
Some things to consider:
  • Criteria to nominate, choose guests for AMAs
  • Who will be in charge of AMA to manage AMAs' operations
  • The forum is not a real time messeger so there will be unnecessary and repeated questions from AMA participants (because they can not follow up AMA process)
  • Posts in AMAs should not be counted because it will give spammers chances to more easily get acceptance and ignorance for their spam- and shit-posts

Quote
Theymos isn't that active in posting especially of late and it's often difficult to get an answer from him on certain things either in public or private (though I haven't tried in a while) so maybe this sort of AMA would be a good idea for forum users to get answers to certain questions they have. I'm sure there are many things users would want to know like what's the eta on the new forum, or will new ranks ever be added etc and there were plenty of suggestions that both I and other users made in the Community generated suggestions thread and it would be interesting to know if he's thought any more about these or even changed his mind, but maybe theymos doesn't want to answer these questions as to not put a deadline on himself etc. Still, it would be nice to get updates or clarifications on some things.
From what theymos admitted at the end of the Art Contest, I don't think he has intention to spend much time on the forum to answer questions from community during AMAs. Not only if he is the chair of the AMA when he has to spend a few minutes, one hour or two hours to do so but also if he has to think of management solutions for such AMAs.

Compromises or FUDs can be born from AMAs as well as invisible pressure on him or any global moderators, ie. who will be in charge of chairs of AMAs.
I was really thrilled to see so much good art, but remind me never to do this again... It took me probably 20+ hours to sort through everything.
theymos has dedicated his time for the forum over years but not in a fixed period daily or under any kind of invisible pressure.

Nobody has to chair it, or the op of the thread could. A thread is created and anyone can ask a question in there. People can read the thread to see if there's any dupes. Whoever is nominated can either choose to answer as many as they want or all if necessary and they can answer them when they're ready. As with AMAs not all questions get answered but just ones they feel penitent and they certainly wouldn't be an obligation to do so. I think this would be better than an reddit AMA actually as questions likely won't get lost amongst the melee and instead of answering them on the fly and in a rush the person in question can take some time to think about their answers or what questions they even want to answer at all.
1192  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 28, 2020, 12:17:25 PM
Shocked i made it to top 5! i was keeping an eye on the consolation prizes too, although i think i needed to score more than 20,5 points today (more than @hilariousandco) to reach first place, correct?

I'll miss seeing the BTC logo on their shirts. I wonder if it'll still be there next season in the Championship.
Sportsbet.io have a 3 year contract with Watford FC.
Source: https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/watford/watford-to-bank-more-than-20m-from-new-shirt-sponsorship-deal-with-sportsbetio-a4169131.html

Depends on what sort of contract they have though. They could have a termination upon relegation clause or significantly reduce their payment. It would make sense for Sportsbet to do that as the drop off in terms of viewership and sponsorship deals between the PL and Championship is staggering.

PS. Can you PM your address for the winnings. Still a couple of users who need to do so.

Big congrats to all the winners, enjoy while you can, this time next year I will be up there with you Smiley

@hilarious
I have a tendency to miss new forum topics so please make sure to advertise here or send PMs to regulars. I am in no matter what the buy in will be, but better to keep it lower with more participants. That 25-35 pounds range you mentioned sounds quite good.

Just keep an eye on this thread or Games and Rounds as I'll post it both here and there soon once I've paid out all the winners and sorted the sponsorship deal out.

1194  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Interviews] with Bitcointalk members on: July 28, 2020, 09:01:28 AM
I've enjoyed reading all the interviews. I don't know if zasad@ does it to everyone but he gave me the option of posting it myself. I think it would be better it users posted their own so you can merit them if you like their answers. If you wanna merit zasad@ for the questions then just toss some in the op.

It was even interesting read to go through your interview, which show's you to be an interesting person overall, more interesting than I thought.
Agreed. I always thought of Quickseller as very knowledgeable.
Just to stir the pot a bit, I missed the question: "How many forum accounts do you currently own"? Tongue

At least two  Cheesy, just like me. He's mostly abandoned that account probably because there's no money in it for him but he's happily still posting away from PrimeNumber7.

I'd be interested to see an interview with aTriz. I'm curious if he's still around with another account. Before making questions for him, I recommend reading this topic.

Well he was last active a little over month ago so he probably pops in from time to time. I think some people won't ever leave this forum no matter how many bans they get or accounts get tarnished. For some people it's just too lucrative to give up and I can't really blame them. PrimeNumber7 has risen through the ranks quite quickly but people like QS know what to do to achieve that efficiently. I'm sure aTriz would too.
1195  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Get a Price ₿oost on every sport, every day! 🤑🤑🤑 on: July 27, 2020, 07:28:01 PM
I forget about how long is the sponsorship contract of Sportbet and Watford. Since Watford will be on Championship Division next season, will we still see the Sportsbet and Bitcoin logo on Watford's Jersey?
Yes

Well, unless they've got a clause in the contract that says they can terminate the deal upon relegation, or significantly reduce payments. A lot of sponsorship deals and even players contracts have clauses like this. There's a huge drop off in terms of viewership between the PL and the Championship so that is often reflected in the various deals and deals can be lost upon relegation or payments significantly reduced. It would kinda be silly on the sponsors part not to have them really. The PL is the most watched league in the world, whereas the Championship probably doesn't get much attention in the grand scheme of things, so that's a lot of eyeballs missing and less eyeballs means less exposure for your brand.
1196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 26, 2020, 05:38:51 PM
Real shame about Watford going down. I was kinda rooting for them to stay up as it was nice seeing the BTC logo on their sleeve, but they just didn't have the quality to stay up. Ended up watching the Man U game but it was shit. Wish I'd have gone with my first choice of the Watford game as they nearly came back to grab a point but with Villa getting a point it would have been futile anyway.

I guess we will see if Im right.

basically 4/1 though. Surely that's not bad on a stack of should be won games?

Told you it wasn't worth it. Went for a draw on the Spurs game on the predictor pool but at 0-0. Didn't do great on the rest myself though  Grin. If anyone wants to join the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League Pool look out for it in Games and Rounds next week or PM me and I'll send you a reminder once it goes live.
1197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 26, 2020, 05:18:50 PM
Shit! Just one point or technically 1.5 points for me to miss the 2nd place. I was racing for 2.5 points ahead than MoSala but this was a good round for him too.

Congratulation Toke and MoSalah to kick my ass LOL

Goddammit, fifth all the way down to 8th. Yellow cap was won by DeathAngel but by only 14 points so not enough to clinch a consolation prize so at least I won something:

hilariousandco          20.5          7

examplens               19.5          24

tomahawk9              18.5          20

bigdaddy                  17.5          11

famLFC                    17            12

Shame about Watford going down. I'll miss seeing the BTC logo on their shirts. I wonder if it'll still be there next season in the Championship.

Godamn superbru:

I guess the site is lagging as everyone is on it right now trying to check their final scores. I did pretty shit from what I can tell but there was a lot of unexpected results so I might have still held on to 5th place but I'm not so sure. I was still there when I last checked shortly after full time but I'm not sure if all the games had finished and superbru had updated. It's often a bit behind. Mbit got the score right on the Man U game so he might have overtaken me. The Man U game was shit. Wish I'd had switched over at half time.
1199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 25, 2020, 06:13:46 PM
If i'm not mistaken this weekend will be the last matches for Premier league and to end this season i think i will bets for Liverpool once again because i was so tempting the odds for Liverpool @2.7 at onehash.com so probably they still have an ambition to ended this season with the victory

I’m not sure, Liverpool have completed their objective to become champion. They may have been partying too hard also, plus Klopp might rest key players & try some of the younger guys.

There might be some players who need another game to collect a medal as well. There's some minimum games played I think required to be eligible.

Well I got my first accumulator on, I think LFC will win, given the Chelsea score line.

Why even put this on for such a small return. I agree those teams should win and I would back most of them if I had to, but look at what's to play for. Liverpool have already won the league and they're playing away. Spurs are also playing away and I wouldn't really trust them to win comfortably right now. Chelsea are playing Wolves who are trying to hold onto their Europa spot. Man City should stuff Norwich but maybe they might field an alternative team to give some other players a game. Even so they'll still likely thrash them but maybe Norwich will want to give a good performance for their fans for their final performance in the Premier League.  Too risky for not enough return for me.
1200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: July 25, 2020, 10:41:00 AM
Wow, 0.1 from sponsor looks nice. Personally, I'll join, no matter what signup fee you will pick - £25, £50 or 0.005 BTC, difference isn't big anyway. And it would be nice to get at least 30 players. It would make pot really solid and pool would be very competetive. I see that some people stopped playing during the season, but maybe we can get some new faces to the pool. Big pot would bring more interest.

I'm sure we can get at least 30. Most players will probably return and a few will naturally drop out, but there's over two months to recruit new sign-ups. Maybe the sponsor will push the pool a bit as well I dunno.

Also playing next season, whether buy-in is 10$ od 100$. I'd prefer an option with more players, it's better fun when there's 30 people instead of 10.

I liked it this season, was good for a while but had a really bad patch mid-season, finishing 5 rounds in a row in the bottom 10 or so. Looking forward to improve on that Smiley

I think 40-50 users would be ideal. 40 players at 0.005 is 0.2 plus the 0.1 sponsorship so that would be nice. I don't think it would be great if there were too many players as that would obviously decrease your chances of winning but if the pool did get much bigger I suppose I could pay for the top ten spots. 5-10 would probably only be essentially smaller consolation prizes though. I'd like to bump up the highest round consolation prizes if I can as well though for a little more incentive to keep playing your best.

Not really sure if I will participate on the next one, depends on the buy in. If it remains the same then I'll participate.

Well it will likely be between £25-£37.50 with the latter being 0.005 currently. Ideally I'd like to try keep it at 0.0005 as it's nice figure and makes it less complicated to split the prizes nicely.
