1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Launched POW/POS on: August 13, 2016, 07:05:49 PM
We're up to block 10,100. Am I reading things right and PoW stops at block 12,500 and moves over completely to PoS?

I have a newbie question, I already did a little research.

But can you, or someone else tell me as simple as possible, how does PoS work?

Since you're a newbie I'll keep it relatively simple. You "stake" by keeping coins in your wallet and your wallet open, otherwise it can't stake. By proving you have a stake in the coin, you get more coins, kind of like interest at a bank because you have given them money for a float, to maintain the bank's integrity. In this case you are helping to maintain the coin's network integrity.

Each coin network has its own parameters for when a coin "matures", or when it is counted as part of a stake and what the corresponding reward is and how often you get said reward.

Hopefully someone else can either extend or correct my layman explanation.

Anyone knows which amount would be required to stake?

The thing many people fail to understand is that this could be a turnkey solution for many small companies and businesses and from what I understand it should be very easy to maintain. If they amp up their development, branding and marketing they could have a lot of success.
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Launched POW/POS on: August 13, 2016, 06:45:12 PM
Come on guys, FUD side has weak points but really 1k? even $10 is a improbable but of course it's possible and could happen after 1 or 2 years of contant developments. I think if all goes according to plan $0.1 should be guaranteed based on that scenario which is why many think is undervalued at the moment.

From there to $1 there's a lot of stuff that would need to happen that we can't really predict at this stage. One thing is for sure, anything under 1-2k sats is a complete steal in my mind. I honestly hope some would dump after the bounties are released so I can get some more at those levels.

What is the best price to buy Stratis token now?

In my opinion, the 200s-300s. But since there will be MANY rebounds on the way down, you will probably be able to make some decent trades if you choose wisely your entry points. Again in my opinion, anything beyond those numbers I just gave you, its simply too risky.

You sir are now on my ignore list.

It is a tough blow, I admit it... but with luck, introspection and perseverance, I hope I'll e able to survive it.

There's not a single project no matter what shitcoin you could think of that is valued at 300s with a 100m coin supply. So I get you have doubts and questions about the project but that's just plain stupid to even mention.

I do agree with you that 95% of crypto projects don't have real world usage, even top 10 market cap ones, it's all hype and nerds playing with code. But I'm a trader and a investor, I don't care about that, the market moves when there's news and development and that's it. Stratus at this price is definitely undervalued, it may take months to get some traction of course.

Waves didn't even released anything yet, I dont know much about the project but people here think all its going to $10 like ETH in a month. Ethereum itself was at 20 cents for more than a year...
1186  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ORACLE | Restoring Faith in Humanity via Blockchain - 18HRS TO GO on: August 13, 2016, 07:06:04 AM
ow come on, you guys make me want to cry, please give him time, its not even few days or a week..

the project is Restoring faith in humanity

When this much money is involved there's no room for acts of faith, this is how scams work. I still can't believe people throw that much money on a leap of faith and without doing some due diligence first.

We are not guilty for making inquiries, it should be the first thing to do before any sort of ICO start, that's why I'm appalled moderators didn't intervene. I understand this is a self moderated thread but it should've been locked down some weeks ago already.

Tai Zens friend Leon Fu just mentioned Stratis in a tweet! He said the risk/reward potential is very good. Go Stratis!!!

Shit just got real...sad to hear it won't be under the radar anymore.

I tried to warn as many people as I could but this is where Bitcointalk drops the ball really, moderators are non existent. We are not talking about a quick  0.05 loan here...

Mods only looking for off-topic posts and ban them. Actually they should permaban scammers like oracle, mentrio op.

They should be on the lookout for things like this from the start, at least issue warnings.
1189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Launched POW/POS on: August 13, 2016, 04:28:42 AM
Maybe I haven't got this straight...  This is a project whose "merit" WILL BE the creation of short of "ready-made" blockchains. I haven't read anything about BLOATING. I havent read anything about SPEED in transactions... but most of all I haven't read anything about SECURITY of the network. So I will assume there's dependent on the number of nodes operating it (in other words the name of wallets staking), so, since no one is doing it -and this is a figure of speach; it means very few people, I'm going to assume the vulnerabilities are simply overwhelming.

There are at least another 6 projects with similar technologies in much more advanced state of development, with a lot more money (hence time) and teams way bigger (in every meaning of the word). So why would you support this project? There's absolutely no reason whatsoever... But, above all, this is a group that, when and if they ever have technology on the blockchain that is of interest to anyone, will SELL their services as consultors to whatever enterprises are interested. They will get paid for that counseling and you, the Stratis holder, get... well...

That this thing is still being traded above the ICO price is only due to the speculative nature of the crypto world. And it will be brief, for sure. No way, at this point, this are worth anything beyond (very low) three figures, even less. And that would be a best case scenario.

I'm going to try and dissect what you're saying because there's a-lot of fancy relatable 'keywords' which don't make sense in the context.

1. This is a project whose "merit" WILL BE the creation of short of "ready-made" blockchains

This projects "merit" will be providing a BaaS turnkey solution in C# with other potential consumer applications. All that led with a professional, experienced team in the related industry.

2. I haven't read anything about BLOATING. I havent read anything about SPEED in transactions...

Again more keywords which aren't really relatable or specific to this project. It's ironic you mentioned speed as Chris has already outlined one of the use-cases as providing a possible solution to Bitcoin micro-transactions. Technical specifics on the full node framework haven't been released yet.

3. but most of all I haven't read anything about SECURITY of the network.

Sorry? It's a hybrid PoW/PoS network. What "security of the network" specifics would you like? It's a token representative atm anyway.

4. So I will assume there's dependent on the number of nodes operating it (in other words the name of wallets staking), so, since no one is doing it -and this is a figure of speach; it means very few people, I'm going to assume the vulnerabilities are simply overwhelming.

I'm convinced you're talking out your arse now. Yes security in PoS does depend on people staking congrats you've worked it out. There is also PoW as a hashrate which last time I checked wasn't even profitable to mine! Is no-one doing it? Damn I guess I'm on a hard fork then. Yes that's good as a result of all that you've concluded massive vulnerabilities, congrats.

5. There are at least another 6 projects with similar technologies in much more advanced state of development

Stratis is the currently the only project developing a full turnkey BaaS solution in C#. That, as I've said, with a team with industry experience. The most similar project is NXT which has a management that doesn't listen to their community (imo) have no ico funding and have a timeline that concludes in over a years time (where Stratis expects to begin consultancy services in December). They also have no focus on fiat integration and the scope for Stratis is much larger. You've also got the relative market cap sizes ($30 mill to $1 mill) and NXT is highly inflated from it's $6 million a while ago (not sure on this going from memory). I'm keeping it brief here because I could write an essay on these comparisons.

6. will SELL their services as consultors to whatever enterprises are interested. They will get paid for that counseling and you, the Stratis holder, get... well...

I don't think you understand providing consultancy services acts as a complimentary feature to the BaaS platform. The whitepaper already discusses many of the various ways Stratis holders will benefit from demand for the 'token'.

7. That this thing is still being traded above the ICO price is only due to the speculative nature of the crypto world. And it will be brief, for sure. No way, at this point, this are worth anything beyond (very low) three figures, even less. And that would be a best case scenario.

Speculative it is indeed but as I've explained in many posts how I feel this project it is undervalued significantly. Especially when, as you've said, compare it to other similar projects.

---

I typed this very quickly as it's late here and I cba checking over spelling/grammar. Apologise.

There seems to be some sort of correlation between the dumping and the amount of trolls/fud popping up on here. I can accept criticism but a-lot of this stuff is just ridiculous. Then again the crypto world does have it's fools.

Let the trolls and fudders do they work man, who doesn't want Strats at below 1k sats? That's a complete steal, when listed on Polo you could sell it for 3 or 4 times that for sure if that's your intention.

Stratis has a long way to go and it's a risky investment like any other crypto, but it's a very interesting opportunity considering the team and future plans. If everything goes according to plans I don't see why this could not go beyond 10k before the end of the year. It can reach $0.1 and more by next depending on good news, deals and development.

give him chance, i think this is genuine, im not sure mentrio also scam either, its to soon to judge, but im half sure RISE is,,

i will ask fflaguna to open slack channel, so investors and friends could gather

I didn't invest but I could've made the same mistake as you guys, I did the spanish translation. It's an obvious scam, I've sent a pm to him offering my services and he didn't reply. He also didn't provide ANY extra information, no social media profile, photo, nothing, all promises and "good faith" that he's working, red flags everywhere.

I really can't believe he got 40 BTC, perhaps he's just exaggerating and pumping the numbers to get more people onboard. I remember RISE but that afaik it's not a scam, it may not pan out but it's a real project. This is a whole different story...

The irony is that the project was based in good faith. Satan has a special place for people like! I'm sorry for you guys who lost money, but consider it gone.

This is most likely a scam, I'm fully convinced by now.

I did the spanish translation but already reported it because I want it to be taken down. I don't want to be associated with a potential scam and making people lose money. I still can't believe people throw money without doing some research.

Unfortunately , most likely a scam , I stopped tweeting about this coin , because I recognized that the dev has deleted many posts , and every day he resets the countdown to steal more Bitcoins , I am very sad because someone exploits humanitarian purposes to steal money from people . I was about to invest in this project because it has beautiful idea which is helping others , but when I saw the scam accusation thread I turned back .

Actually the idea was interesting (I'm not sure how will it technically work though). It would be great to see an actual project created based on it.

Even if it's not a scam (which I highly doubt by now) the "dev" is deleting posts, not answering simple common sense questions and appealing for "good faith" and trust that he's working. He's also promising live youtube chats, etc.

Bitcointalk is dropping the ball here I'm afraid, these things are taking over the forum and depend on a couple of users good will to denounce this. Moderators are non-existant. They should be locking and deleting threads in a second, we are talking about 50 BTC that's has been running for weeks already...not a quick lending scam of 0.05...

1199  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying stocks with Bitcoin on: August 12, 2016, 12:25:33 AM
Very very interesting too see so many people choose bitcoin over stocks.

For me, i would choose stocks, real companies owned by real people over a shady digital currency which gained its reputation mostly from drug dealers, hackers and thieves.

Also very big LoL goes to the people who say stock market is gambling. If the stock market is gambling then what is bitcoin? x1000 gambling.

I would actually buy stocks with bitcoins if there are cheap and safe brokers.

Even I would like bitcoin to reach like paypal around the world and this should become most popular payment gateway and international money transfer medium.
I am most of the people will go with bitcoin mode of payment in their business to increase their profit level by reducing transaction charges.
That is nice only when you are for sure that you can make a lot of money with it and that is sometimes really hard to know sometimes because not everyone have the patience for it.
And that have to change also because there are still a lot of people that is waiting with their Bitcoin for a higher value.

Many here don't even begin to comprehend how the real world knows and regurgitate stupid nonsense. Bitcoin could be compared to Silver or Gold, very volatile and speculative investments options. Company stocks are a whole different beast, if you trust a company and you get in at a decent price and hold long term, there's a strong change your money is safe and you will earn a good % annually if you don't make stupid moves.

Just look at companies like Visa, Apple, Google, Facebook, etc, yes they do have ups & downs but take 3 or 5 years graph lines and you see that they are always growing, that's why they are leaders.

Of course many companies end up in flames too based on different problems, Yahoo, Blackberry, Nokia, companies that fail to adapt and grow.
