2121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: January 24, 2016, 10:09:13 PM
Bitcoin is still very complicated to use for 99,9% of the people. Most users using Bitcoin are techy in any way.
Just need to explain what Bitcoin is to your grandmother and you will see why so many people stopping from using

It's not true. Many users who do use bitcoins on this forum are students in school and they are just interested in mining bitcoins but are still learning about it. The basics of bitcoins as simple as bank accounts to get started with bitcoins. So, this is not a stopping for many new people into bitcoin ecosystem.

I can not deny that bitcoin is kind of complicated to be understood for newbies, but this is because who explain bitcoin for them are geeks and they use some tech terms so people feel it is very difficult to understand this currency although there are many user friendly wallets that are really suitable for those newbie

Every Wozniak needs a Jobs.

Many here keep denying that it's difficult to use. That's a fact but what it's worse is that there's actually no problem to solve. Bitcoin doesn't do anything better than Paypal or CCs. Common people don't need Bitcoin in their lives unless they want to invest long term. People here mentioning Paypal is refundable as if was a disadvantage? you think that's a con for common folks?  Do you think my mother wants to use Bitcoin (which is non-refundable) so the minute she makes a mistake she will lose all her money? Really? Because she will make that mistake sooner or later I guarantee you, there are decimals, authorization keys, brain wallets, address as long as long as line of code, qr codes, and you think being non-refundable is a plus?

I think Bitcoin is a unique technology don't get me wrong but is in its infancy just as the internet was in the early 90s, it's still just for curious and tech savvy people. In this case it also attracts investors and traders.

Philadelphia 76ers has good chance to win this match against Boston Celtics which is not good in offense and facing so many problem to make scoring points, Philadelphia 76ers +9 sounds good because it has more better chance to make decent amount while it is playing this match on home court.

While I think the Sixers have a shot at it, I don't think the odds are really rewarding for such risk bet. Plus I think Boston is doing just fine overall, they recently beat Chicago and played great away games, in Dallas for example.
2123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling problem on: January 24, 2016, 08:41:04 PM
When I encounter these sort of threads and issues I always say that it doesn't really help to stop cold turkey. People addicted need to rethink why they do it. The same applies to alcohol, it just baffles me that people abstain from alcohol for their whole life. What's wrong with having a beer or a glass of wine every week or once in a while? Nothing, so man up and don't be stupid, just have some fun and enjoy it. The problem that addicts need to overcome is crossing the line, but abstaining from it all together is just a stupid solution in my opinion and builds the desire to do it and throw it all away.

So, just have some fun, consider it entertainment because that's what it is, you can't beat the casinos. Bet on your favorite game, with money you can afford to lose (consider it gone the minute you bet it) and it'll be ok.
2124  Economy / Economics / Re: Long term OIL on: January 24, 2016, 08:31:37 PM
i will actually buy some shares because in my opinion sooner or later the price will surely go up because it has never been so down was it? i will invest some money in it for sure

I'm not so sure, there has been plenty of examples like this with other resources, people couldn't believe the price was so low and kept buying and buying an the price kept dropping and dropping. I tend to think that if you buy oil today it will be worth a lot in the next years but I really don't know what the floor currently is so I stay away.

Oil could be replaced by other energy sources, but oil it's not only an energy source, it will still be needed for many things. For example you can't manufacture a car with solar energy, it takes around 5 oil gallons to just make one tire!
2125  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How i made $400 in less than two hours on: January 24, 2016, 08:27:10 PM
OP did nothing but tell people to buy low and sale hi. If you didn't know that by eight years of age you're probably an idiot.

What's with all the scammer posts here? You can do what OP mentions using any service.. Bitcoin doesn't fluctuate enough to really do this even in weeks unless you have big money and buy BTC on a day it goes down $10.00-$30.00..

Please even if you take that as only a insider tip, the goal of the OP was for you to use that exchange. And by just looking at it, we all know that selling BTC for Paypal is a major risk. Look at the site, look at how convenient it is, it's just a huge scam trap, clear as water.
2126  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: some faucet website are racist on: January 24, 2016, 08:21:58 PM
I didn't know about that, similar to what happens to content usually in Youtube or similar sites that are only allowed certain content in one location, region or country. I think you could bypass that by using a VPN but to be honest, you should bypassing it altogether by staying away from faucets, they are a waste of time really.
2127  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where to invest in Bitcoin businesses? on: January 24, 2016, 08:19:32 PM
Blockchain.info vouches for btcjam? Really? Considering how many people get raped on there I find that very disheartening.

The 'serious' Bitcoin companies aren't open to investment from the little people yet. There are no shortage of shitty companies who'd love to relieve you of your coins. Best to wait for a few years if I were you.

It's really disappointing to hear that Blockchain has ties to btcjam, makes you rethink this whole Bitcoin community, it's really full of scammers everywhere. That's why every year there are headlines of another exchange that run with people's money. They are all legit until they are not, it's just because Bitcoin is not regulated, it's the wild west out there. I also agree, don't look to invest in Bitcoin, at least in the common way you do with fiat, it's just not worth the risk.
2128  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Holding Bitcoin a long time good way to make money? on: January 24, 2016, 08:14:37 PM
Well so far for me it has been a good way to make money although I didn't cash it out or plan to. I've bough my humble share at $230 and then continue to add to it via signature campaigns and other small income so I hope in the next years this investment could worth plenty of dollars.

We never know how much Bitcoin will be valued at, however if you check its history, it has been raising and growing yearly since its conception, so if everything continues the way it is then we can safely say that you can.
2129  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Paypal is NOT Reversible!!!! on: January 24, 2016, 08:10:29 PM
Paypal is reversible but I guess some users think it's just a click of a button, it's not as simple as that, it's even not so simple as with a credit card for example, where your claims are much faster and refunds are easier to obtain if you claim the charges are not authorized. In more than 10 years I've only claimed once and it was because I've paid for a digital good (WP theme) that offered a 30 day refund or something like that. I wasn't very glad with the product so I "sent it back". The seller kinda took its time and the money didn't arrive for days and days when I finally opened up a claim. After some hours, a day perhaps, I got my money back.
2130  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best trading places on: January 24, 2016, 08:06:30 PM
Poloniex is great but also for trading altcoins and if you want to do it as quick and hassle free as possible (not even registration) you can do that at Shapeshift.io, they have great support and handle plenty of altcoins too. The only problem would be that their fee it's a little higher, well not really a fixed fee but the rates they give are not the best compared to other exchanges.
2131  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why not use Paypal for accepting payments? on: January 24, 2016, 08:04:30 PM
I've never had any problems with Paypal and I've been using it for more than 10 years as a freelancer. You all must be into something very shady if you think that Paypal bans accounts and doesn't take care of refund claims, etc. Now, the fees (specially international ones, I think it's 5.4%...) are completely out of this world considering that there's no limit to them, so sending $1000 would cost an arm and a leg. Also, Paypal must have a lot of income coming from the interest the funds generate while being in their hands.

2133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: January 24, 2016, 06:40:16 PM
My picks for tonight would be:

Atlanta Hawks @ Phoenix Suns - Phoenix Suns @ 6.8
Atlanta Hawks @ Phoenix Suns - Over 207.5pts @ 2.1
Indiana Pacers @ Sacramento Kings - Indiana Pacers @ 2.2

Only bet on the first one if you are feeling it, I think the Hawks are not the Warriors or the Spurs to give them such odds and while the Suns are bad, they can take advantage tonight of a tired squad that has been on the road for the last 3 games. The other two give some nice odds in my opinion. If you want to play it safe I would choose U/O on the Bulls @ Cavaliers game though.

I am very lazy about this bet you rock really good one of best picks I watch here on this thread good work hope in near future you have some more like these for us congrats for this

Wow you won the Phoenix moneyline, unbelievable, even with Atlanta being tired and everything.

But I can't say the loss at the over  207.5 is really a surprise, considering that Phoenix would not make many points and if Atlanta is tired, they would not either.

Thank you guys, I really felt Phoenix had a good chance and those odds were ridiculous at 6.8! Hopefully someone won some good money on it. I always try to find picks that seem out of place, these odds really seemed to belong to GSW/Spurs playing at home against the Sixers or the Lakers really.
2134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2015-16 Regular Season Discussion on: January 23, 2016, 11:40:49 PM
I don't like NBA match-ups today. Either they have very low odds or opening bets are too risky. I checked both money lines and over-unders, couldn't find a good one. I think I'll pass today.

I agree, I selected a few picks as you can see but I'll sit this one out really, the match-ups as you said are open to plenty of surprises with not so enticing odds. That's why I've picked mostly risky ones for today since sometimes it's wiser to bet on the underdog if you are really feeling it.
2135  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Absolutely nothing backs Fiat paper its completely worthless on: January 23, 2016, 10:59:30 PM
of course fiat money is worthless, its just a paper, but i dont think that it causes any problems as bitcoin is just a code too that has value just because people think its valuable

This. Every currency is worthless because it represents something else that actually have value. If you are talking about how fiat works and how it's based on debt basically, well that's how it goes, if you have a new system that is compatible with human life (not idiotic or idealistic utopian dreams) then you can propose something better. I think Bitcoin has potential, at least to change some things around. The problem is that it just doing its first steps but it is surely a complete unique way of rethinking economy and technology in today's world.
2136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: January 23, 2016, 08:47:20 PM
I've replied a long while ago in this thread and the main issue (besides usability which is completely impossible to comprehend for a common person) is that there's actually no need for Bitcoin to be adopted besides as an investment. What can Bitcoin do better than Paypal or CCs? Absolutely nothing. it is of course a complete unique technology and a new way of thinking just as the internet was in the 90s. But as like that example, it's in its infancy so right now it's not very usable, let's hope it can eventually evolve and make its potential a reality.

2138  Economy / Economics / Re: The Switzerland of Bitcoin on: January 23, 2016, 07:02:44 PM
Another option would be Isle of Man which is not mentioned here I think. We all focused in rather big countries and economies but this one is actually doing the heavy work already. Is not really a country but a self governing british island (not really the same but the closer example in the poll would be Honk Kong I guess).

2140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the Chinese pumpers pump BTC up again in the next 30 days? on: January 23, 2016, 05:52:01 PM
I can't really predict this because nobody knows what they will do, however we are only just a couple of negative statements away from a true Bitcoin crisis. Many companies are leaving and selling their BTC investments and that's the reality. Hopefully the storm will pass and Bitcoin will be able to survive as it usually does, but the next weeks/months will be hard and turbulent.
