1201  Economy / Collectibles / Re: CASASCIUS PHYSICAL BITCOIN - In Stock Now! (pic) on: April 08, 2013, 07:44:12 AM
I have a coin listed on my sisters ebay account (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230959708093) so I may ask you to do so if required  Smiley

Just curious how you combat the rife paypal fraud that seems to be happening with these items?  It has been suggested that the bid amounts on these coins are so high because the accounts are hacked and the "buyers" just want to get some easy bitcoins and will reverse the charges after they are recieved.  Even with the paypal protections in place, don't they usually side with the buyer in case of disputes?
I am suspicious of that as well...
1202  Economy / Goods / Re: [FOR SALE] Series 1, 1 BTC Casascius Coins on: April 06, 2013, 01:49:13 AM
In light of this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190818189201
I am potentially willing to sell three of these.

That sale has to be insanity, desperation, or a scam. I would like to buy one and I'm willing to pay up to 2 BTC for a coin, but $1075 is crazy.

You won't get series 1 for 2 BTC anymore...
1203  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: instawallet has fallen new owner stealing on: April 06, 2013, 01:25:00 AM
hahahhahahah look at instawallet now! I hate to tell you all this but.. I told you so! he either took the money or gave someone a backdoor way to steal all the wallets. go ahead make a claim he wont return any bitcoins guaranteed!

Don't be such an arrogant ass just yet ever.
FTFY.
1204  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling two casascius coins to SgtSpike on: April 06, 2013, 12:48:12 AM
I'll be selling two casascius coins to SgtSpike.  These are the version ones with the typo on the hologram.  In addition to the typo, they belong to the rare 12xxxxx series, only the second series of coins produced.

Selling price is 9 BTC total, or 4.5 BTC per coin.

I'm going to send the coins to SgtSpike first via USPS with delivery confirmation.  When he receives them, he will either accept them and send me 9 BTC, or return the coins at his own expense.  One of the two options must be exercised within 72 hours.

SgtSpike, if you can just quote and agree I'll ship the coins out.
I don't see anything about insurance mentioned here, but kgo also said in a PM he would send them with insurance as well.  So, quoted and agreed, so long as insurance at today's valuation of 9 BTC is provided with the shipment (at least $1,284).  Kgo, please confirm!  Also, to be clear, these are to be unredeemed coins.  Smiley

Yep.  I agree on the insurance and confirm the coins are unredeemed.
Confirmed.  Thanks!

I've decided to up my offer to 4 BTC per coin.  Let me know if you're interested Scott J.
1207  Economy / Goods / Re: [FOR SALE] Series 1, 1 BTC Casascius Bitcoins on: April 05, 2013, 08:40:46 PM
yowza, I have a boatload of these things I bought on a whim when they first came out.  3 BTC each?  Hmmmm....

There really are not that many of the original 2011 ones .  Many have been redeemed.
I think 5 BTC is reasonable for average condition, 6+ for great.   I also have some for sale.  I am considering ebay for one of them though prefer to sell here for btc.

Still bidding over $1400

Sold at $850:

What is still unknown about the eBay auctions is who Paypal will side on when the buyer submits an "empty box" or "item not as described" dispute.  It could be that scammers are raising the price, knowing that they will probably get away with a paypal chargeback if they return the item (even with a redeemed holo).

It's hard to know whether $1,400 is a legitimate price for these!

That could happen but it is not going to be anywhere near the majority of sales.  The chance is lower for a physical coin then a virtual one as most of the virtual ones are hacked accounts.  If someone does this, you (usually) know exactly who did it.  Certainly not selling to new eBay users (setting terms), only ones in the country you live in, using signature confirmation and canceling suspicious buyers will reduce this chance.
Yep, good points!  I think only shipping to paypal-verified addresses helps as well.

1209  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [ANN] BTC Guild Registration Limits/51% Mitigation Plan on: April 05, 2013, 08:11:01 PM
How about the PPS fee raises by 10% of the amount mined for each 1% above 45%?  In other words, at 50%, the users are paying a 53% fee to mine there?  That way, you're not penalizing the users until they refuse to switch over, and only then.
1210  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAMMER] Teo Victor AKA ZeroSaw on: April 05, 2013, 08:03:41 PM
Just FYI, the scumbag is still a scumbag.  I had a lengthy email conversation with him after starting this thread, all throughout which he argued about what portion he should be able to keep, and what portion he should send back, etc.  I agreed that he keep the portion that he legitimately gained, but told him that that only amounted to 0.18 BTC.  He said that it was more like 0.60 BTC.  I told him he gained that difference through exploiting the system via botting.  He said I didn't have proof.  I showed him proof (of him "gathering" the same block from the same place over and over).  He said it wasn't botting.  I said it doesn't matter - it was still an exploit and abuse of the system.  He still argued that it wasn't botting, and demanded that I explain how it was botting.

After two dozen emails, I told him I was done arguing, and to send back the full amount less the 0.18 BTC that he legitimately earned.  He went silent again.

Basically, he acts like a 12 year old child screaming "THAT'S NOT FAIR" when his parents send him to his room for doing something wrong.  He refuses to return the amount of BTC that he stole from me, despite fully admitting that he did it (and even having the gonads to demand a reward for the theft!).  I have reimbursed the users whose payouts he sniped.  I have implemented some better security measures on the program (forum username has to match in-game name now, and not paying out for a modification in the same x,y,z location more than once).  And I hope this thread stands testament to his douchebaggery forever.
1211  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 05, 2013, 07:29:21 PM

I cannot believe that I actually have to quote myself here....

Furthermore, it is abundantly clear that this forum, and perhaps the community as a whole has a very narrow technical and personal indignation focus.

Are there ANY business people in this forum? DO YOU REALLY UNDERSTAND THE FINANCIAL AND ACCOUNTING IMPLICATIONS of what I have pointed out here?Huh

I think you might have something here. This is probably one of the smartest posts I've read this week.

If I was a bigwig billionaire type, and I believed Bitcoin had a realistic long term shot at major world change (ala MP3, Internet, social media, streaming movies, etc) I would be quickly sitting down with the only professional-style game in town (read BFL) and having a nice long chat about winding down all the business to all the whiny, bitching, retail customers (read you and me) and ramping up big time commercial scale PRIVATE bitcoin mining.

Do you think 20 or 30 million dollars would be enough to pay for a lunch date with Josh and Sonny??
That would be silly, and stupid.  As soon as anyone had so much as a whiff that such things were taking place, confidence in Bitcoin would plummet THROUGH the basement.  There would be zero value in a billionaire type making such a move.  They would only lose money.
1212  Economy / Services / Re: Amateur Artist for Bitcoin on: April 05, 2013, 07:22:30 PM
Just what I needed!!

Could I perchance commission you to do a space art? I need it for a book cover. I'd like the theme to be of a plant obviously, a tad bit like your first picture. Could you send me some examples of what you can do+ quotes for price?
Obviously indeed...
1213  Economy / Speculation / Re: Map (you are here) on: April 05, 2013, 06:57:33 PM
That's odd, I don't seem to have these in FF or chrome. Is there a setting I am missing?
+1, it's always been black for me.
1214  Economy / Goods / Re: [FOR SALE] Series 1, 1 BTC Casascius Bitcoins on: April 05, 2013, 06:46:06 PM
I'd give you 3 BTC for each of them (qty 1-3), no questions asked.

Questions asked, maybe more.

- What kind of condition are these in?
- Did you ever touch them with your bare hands?
- Where/how have they been stored?
- Are you the original owner?
- Do they have any visible tarnish on the backside?

- I would say they are in very good condition.
- I have touched them on occasion.
- They have been stored in the original package they came in, in a drawer in my room.
- I am the original owner of two - the other I won in a competition on this forum.
- I cannot see any visible tarnish.
Thanks!

My offer stands at 3 BTC ea for now.  I know that is well below the eBay price, but it's what I'm willing to spend right now.  Wink
