1221  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 16, 2012, 07:47:28 PM
This is what I see in the logs right now:
Code:
2012-02-17 19:10:42.420000  Pool: 100GH/s Stale rate: 6.4% Expected time to block: 16.4 hours

And I didn't get any credit for the last found blocks: 167198 and 167161

The last blocks I got credit for were 166985 and 166984 (2 days ago).

Did we have a pool split again ... or what's going on here?
1222  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU bitforce overclock monitor fanspeed GCN RPC linux/windows/osx 2.2.6 on: February 16, 2012, 07:37:33 PM
Suggestion: Would it be possible to maintain on the first page of this tread a list of all the AMD graphics cards with the optimum settings for cgminer?

It's kind of cumbersome to keep reading through all those pages (202) at the moment - so it would be nice to have this information in one central place.
1223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Bitcoins on: February 14, 2012, 07:59:42 AM
Would this be a valid attack? Imagine Goldman Sachs & friends buy a large amount of all the available Bitcoins, park them - and throw away all information where they are parked.

The money it would cost would be peanuts for them (a fraction of their bailout money Wink ... and "Problem Bitcoin" would be solved before it's getting to big.
1224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Lost Bitcoins on: February 13, 2012, 10:24:18 AM
What happens to all those Bitcoins that are parked in offline / paper wallets - and get lost (-> spouse throws away paper with strange symbols on it, hard drive crash, etc.) ?

Does that mean Bitcoins get more and more precious over time?
1225  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU bitforce overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.2.4 on: February 12, 2012, 10:27:26 PM
Would it be possible to add a switch to set the memory voltage? By default it's about 1.06V - but since we usually downclock memory so much, it would make sense to lower it considerably.
1226  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 12, 2012, 09:50:08 PM
9 in 24 hours. How's that smell? Not bad for a 230 GH/s pool.  Tongue

It's called variance Tongue

Possibly there is a god. Because yesterday my mainboard blew up - and I got 0 of those 9 blocks Wink
1227  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER GPU bitforce overclock monitor fanspeed RPC in C linux/windows/osx 2.2.4 on: February 12, 2012, 12:09:29 PM
On windows, you can also specify "export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS = 1"
Only way is different, "Computer> System Properties> Advanced system settings> system environment> create a new variable" GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS ", the value of the variable is -" 1 "

It just has no effect at all on Windows systems (confirmed by AMD). You could as well set MITT_ROMNEY_IS_A_DICKHEAD = 1 ... would have the same effect Wink

which command line options to set for optimum 7970 performance?
1229  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: February 11, 2012, 10:25:33 PM
The beauty of Bitcoin is its decentralized nature. With p2pool there's another level of decentralization added. I like that.

The idea of GPUMAX goes in the opposite direction. In the wrong direction imho.

1230  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [200GH/s] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 11, 2012, 10:01:41 PM
How do I start p2pool in server mode?

Until this thread I didn't even know there was one ... Smiley
1231  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 3x7970 Mining Results. on: February 11, 2012, 06:14:05 PM
I just released cgminer 2.2.4 which is the first release with respectable (read not the fastest, but good) performance for 7970.

Thanks ckolivas. Which command line settings to use for optimum 7970 performance?
1232  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 11, 2012, 11:15:43 AM
... trust that the FED won't create trillions upon trillions upon trillions of dollars ...

But they did. And still do.

Basically the US is even more fu**ed than Greece. Unfortunately the Greeks don't have aircraft carriers ...
1233  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2POOL vs. Pooled Mining - something stinks here on: February 11, 2012, 10:44:54 AM
When money is involved, trust is the last thing you want to rely on.

Money is Trust.

Remember the text that once was written on US-Dollar bills? "Will pay to the bearer on demand xxx dollars". Once people don't trust this promise any more a dollar is nothing more than a piece of green paper.

Again: Money = Trust

So what's the damage? Well on the 7970 at 1200/1050 clocks, which was getting 694MHash, it's now getting 711Mhash. The 7970 has this unusual behaviour where the hashrate slowly rises for the first 5-10 minutes.

Besides "-k poclbm", which other command line options do I have to use to get optimal results on the 7970?
1235  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 3x7970 Mining Results. on: February 11, 2012, 09:05:50 AM
Easy to do.. Get MSI AB Beta 10. Set mem to min, apply.. close, open, set to min again, apply, close, repeat again...

Not working for me. I can't go lower than 685.

I now use cgminer to set voltage, gpu & memory clocks. Stop it. And then start DiabloMiner. That works. But I don't like it ...  Wink
1236  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 3x7970 Mining Results. on: February 10, 2012, 11:44:49 PM
Search the registry for ID_OC_MEM_SLIDER, ID_OC_VOLTAGE_SLIDER, and you will see these are set to the saved values in Trixx. Close Trixx, change the OC_MEM_SLIDER reg_dword to 150 decimal, and restart Trixx. You can now use a lower range of settings. Repeat for anything else you want to change.

No matter what I set for ID_OC_VOLTAGE_SLIDER, it always shows 1170 as the minimum.
1237  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 3x7970 Mining Results. on: February 10, 2012, 10:59:37 PM
- with Trixx I can downclock memory, but voltage only down to 1170mV
- with Afterburner I can only downclock memory to 685, not lower - but voltage to as low as I want.

Real question is: How to downclock memory AND set voltage to 865mV ?

1238  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Downclock memory of 7970 on: February 10, 2012, 09:04:03 PM
With Sapphire TriXX or MSI Afterburner I can only downclock the memory to as low as 685MHz.

I have seen in other threads values as low as 150MHz.

Which tools do I have to take to downclock memory so much?
1239  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 3x7970 Mining Results. on: February 10, 2012, 09:00:28 PM
Water Cooling:
Mining: 1200/150mhz,   1.17v, 251W - 700mh/s
Mining: 925/1375mhz,   1.17v, 190W - 550mh/s
Mining: 925/340mhz,    1.17v, 171W - 550mh/s
Mining: 925/340mhz,    880mv, 115W - 550mh/s
Mining: 925/340mhz,    865mv, 112W - 550mh/s
Mining: 925/150mhz,    865mv, 109W - 550mh/s

How did you manage to downclock your memory to 150MHz?

With Sapphire TriXX or MSI Afterburner I can only go down to as low as 685MHz.
1240  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: New Open CL 1.2 on: February 10, 2012, 03:41:50 PM
No, OpenCL is a specification from the Khronos Group, ...

Yes. But the IMPLEMENTATION itself is vendor specific. Unfortunately. Because it gives AMD the opportunity to f**k things up (hint: the 100% CPU load bug epic drama).
