1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another side of Sports betting you may not know about on: May 11, 2023, 02:55:11 PM
Fixing the game or cheating in your own team against least favourite for big chunk of money isn't new and many athletes lost their sports career after they found guilty of doing such immoral activities. But for someone who bet few dollars won't take it that much but there also players who bet in millions will take it seriously and turn their life upside down so never trust anything because nothing is 100% perfect.
^ That is a serious offense that can have severe consequences for athletes and their careers. It is not just the large sums of money involved, but also the integrity of the sport itself that is at stake. Even for those who may only bet a few dollars, it is important to remember that every action has consequences, and there's always a risk of getting caught and facing serious penalties. We should always strive for honesty and fair play in all aspects of our lives, both on and off the field.
But "We can't say that everything is happening fairly in any sport because it has become a money-making business in the 21st century. Therefore, even those who are conducting the game, such as the sports board along with sponsors, may take it in the direction of making money, and do anything for it to happen.

This is one of the reasons why I don't get much involved in sports betting and I have also started to lose interest in my favorite sports. I'm not sure if this is happening only to me or if there are others too."
1242  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the effects of lowering the average Bitcoin block confirmation time? on: May 10, 2023, 08:20:06 PM
I don't know if this has been discussed before, However let me ask here for some clarity.

Given the current overload of the mempool with around 400K unconfirmed transactions. A scenario came up in my mind where there are over 200K transactions being broadcasted in the network per hour due to an increase in adoption with different Countries using it as recognized payment method. The ~4K transactions per block which get confirmed approx every 10 minutes currently wouldn't help that much in such a scenario.

Apart from the purging of low fee transactions from the mempool, would reducing the average block confirmation time help clear up the mempool and try to keep the average transaction fees lower?

Do you think such a thing can be implemented in the current situation where Ordinals are messing up the network big time?

What are the negative effects of lowering the average block confirmation time?
If there is a situation comes that more people are making transactions let's say people moved to Bitcoin after they feel it's more convenient then surely the current system is not capable of processing millions of transactions everyday and reducing the block confirmation may not be the permanent solution as well.

But with the adoption the evolution also will be there and I assume that if most of the world moved to crypto for their daily payment then we may see offchain transaction for smaller amounts and onchain only for big transactions (crazy guess though).

However the cogestion we face on Bitcoin network is due to the brc20 crap so removing them from the network itself will solve the congestion and bring back the network to clog free status.

1244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you blame someone for your gambling losses? on: May 10, 2023, 04:08:27 PM
Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment and what did they do? Court sentences mother, son to 7 years imprisonment

The mother and the son after gambling away 5.6 million naira, that is about $8,000. When the reality dawned on them, they gave false information in petition, accusing someone of fraudulently transferring the fund from their Opay account to the sport betting account without their authorization.

Could this be a case of making someone pay for what they didn't eat or a case of double standard.

Bet as you can sustain and not allow your emotions have a better part of you.

Ignorant and negligence taught them a life lesson and they thought they can revert back the lost money by just filing that someone else made the transfer from their account, but its too easy to find such kind of tricks with the help of banking and casino network.

About the context of the title you can't blame anyone for the loss you made, cause you did the action so it's fair you have to face the reaction as well.
1245  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you Spending Money the Wrong Way in Pursuit of Happiness? on: May 10, 2023, 02:44:03 PM
Spending money to make others happy is a good thing when it happens for a good cause but it doesn't happen every day or with everyone so as an individual we will try to make ourselves happy then only the remaining thing like charity and others.

Not everyone is the same in this world as well so their happiness varies from another individual for example who is passionate about adventures will be happy when they spend money on their adventure journey whereas for a sport passionate they will be happy when they spend anything which will make them better on that sport.

1246  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [NEWS] Binance Pauses Bitcoin Withdrawals for the Second Time in 24 Hours on: May 09, 2023, 04:59:41 PM
Generally the withdrawal fees of exchange for Bitcoin is higher and even with the current state they still can make profits because they process the withdrawals in batches so charging 25 from one user snd combine it with 25 or 50 will nowhere near even if they pay fee required for next block so this is something related to their cap fee and they will work it out soon and resume the withdrawals.

But why the hell the fee has been pushed to this much. Sad
Because they're a centralized exchange, they can do anything that they want without hear their customers' opinion and create a voting phase.

However this is not first time where Binance use their centralized power and make people disappointed, just remember with their mandatory KYC rule when Binance were still no KYC with below 2 BTC withdrawal condition.

They can do anything and the customer is forced to follow, they will make another disappointing rule sooner or later.
For such kind of enforced policy change is not really from the exchange its due to the regulatory body such as governments so we can't blame the exchange for making KYC as mandatory and even Binance don't want it to be mandatory but they enforced just only because if they want to operate they have to follow the guidelines.

We can often see suspension of deposit and withdrawal on exchange for maintenance such as improving security and others but this time the sudden uncontrolled hike in the transaction fee caused them to stop it.
1247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 09, 2023, 03:05:37 PM

Still the network is highly congested and there is no real way to proceed with this much amount of transaction fee for day to day usage so what are the options now apart from LN?

Switching to Bech32 address saves the fee to some extent but I am not sure it will be helpful with the current situation.

Bitcoin ordinals and this crazy fee is going to last long for months? You opinions will be grateful for someone who doesn't know what to do right now.
1248  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [NEWS] Binance Pauses Bitcoin Withdrawals for the Second Time in 24 Hours on: May 09, 2023, 01:14:42 PM
Don't forget Binance is a centralized exchange, they're earn money through trading fee and withdrawal fee, if the mempool is still like this or become worse, I believe Binance will charge higher fee sooner or later]
They already increased bitcoin withdrawal fee to 0.001, below is the screenshot I took few minutes ago and tt was expected that they will try to keep earning money on withdrawal fees and increase them. The announced LN integration should help with that as well.

1249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Did I can make platform without KYC verification on: May 09, 2023, 09:50:23 AM
The reason of making Bitcoin in the first time is decentralized money and make P2P safely but now we can see many platform start controlling this crypto currency by KYC .
My question is can we make platform that can we verify account by deposit only .
Account have two wallet one of crypto and other with real money he can swap and withdrawal money or crypto anytime
Sorry if it's offending you but better learn the process of what an exchange does before starts thinking can I make one on my own? And learn some grammar too.

How is it possible to verify with deposit or its kind of offer to steal money from the traders.
1250  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Some helpful Telegram Bots to monitor Bitcoin TX, Fees, other TX and this forum on: May 07, 2023, 06:25:03 PM
I am not finding the telegram bots will be very helpful in terms of monitoring the fees because we can do the same with real-time updates from websites like https://mempool.space/

The alert feature seems helpful but it's not suggesting the fee for the next block it just gives an alert when the average fee reaches that stats so still we need to reassure by checking the real-time mempool stats before making any actual transactions.
1251  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 07, 2023, 05:30:45 PM

So what is my take on increased fees on the blockchain will be no major impact because we all know with ETH there was a big problem with gas fees the case in Bitcoin is not that scary. It cant push the prices down but there can be temporary FUd for the prices drop. Bitcoin will stay as long as the community is standing behind and community know what they need to do and what suits them better.
I am not concerned about the existence of Bitcoin, I am sure that Bitcoin is going to stay but look at the memepool the clog is really huge and most members of bitcoin talk thought that fee will be lowered on weekends but the exact opposite thing is happening at the moment. I have been watching the network from time to time the required fee is getting higher and higher I expect that next week something huge is coming like a price drop of huge congestion that will stun the network for a while.
1252  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A nob in trading needs help on: May 06, 2023, 06:48:28 PM
At this level, I am well informed about Bitcoin and its securities, I have read on the forum how Bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading has changed people's lives, and I am kind of interested in acquiring skills, I have read in many other threads on how risky Bitcoin trading is.

But at this point, I will really like to know whether or not Bitcoin trading is a means to gain profits during market speculations, and how possible it is to make passive income through cryptocurrency trading.
Trading isn't passive at all, so you understand the concept wrong.

Trading needs skills, knowledge, capital which is affordable to lose and when all these things combine with experience then you will understand the market better which will lead you to make profits.

Anyone can start trading with low capital as possible, let's say with $50 and jump into Binance then try to make atleast 10% in 1 month of period.
1253  Other / Off-topic / Re: Was it that easy to learn a reputable member posting format? on: May 06, 2023, 04:53:38 PM
I admired the posts of JJG because basically its wall of text which is hard to write that much from my perspective and I am never going to post like that but I admire his way of posting and the ability to make such posts. It doesn't mean you have to copy their style and there is some famous quote "Everyone is unique" which says we can be ourselves and bring the identity with your knowledge. Anyway you can follow them and get success in terms of merits and others but don't lose your own just for some numbers on this forum.
1254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 06, 2023, 03:12:10 PM
It's not a big worry at the moment. Transaction fee rates still drop to even below 10 sats/vbyte if you are not in a hurry. Guess we will wait and see what happens in a bull market, but I think these NFTs will die a natural death once people realize that they are useless as ICOs, STOs, IDOs, IEOs were.

It's just a matter of time.
The hype of NFT is already over and particularly in this period the blockchain is under attack intentionally in my opinion. Even though I thought the fee will drop after fee days but throughout the week it is getting higher along with the number of unconfirmed transactions. As of now, we have over 300K transactions but the time between each block is 10 minutes so there is no worry about the loss of miners but the network is being clogged and that is the reality, hopefully it will be resolved soon.
1255  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin trading be my sole source of income? on: May 05, 2023, 06:40:37 PM
As a young person, I am overwhelmed by my curiosity in trading Bitcoin, but I'm not sure if it is appropriate for me to resign my white collar work and return to trading exclusively Bitcoin.

This was a conversation a buddy of mine and I had yesterday, and I felt compelled to bring it to this illustrious platform for the best types of advice and counsel.

Is it safe for a Bitcoin trader to quit their jobs and focus solely on Bitcoin trading if they can devote their time and attention to maximize the benefits in the Bitcoin world?
So you started to have thoughts such as why I need to work for someone for few hundred dollars when I can make that in a day?

Then you need to understand the outcome as well, most people who quit their job because of their short term success in crypto trading regretted their decision so its clear don't do it unless you have other source of income which will give stable income.

FYI, I have a friend who is working at manager level on a company for around 15K USD monthly income meanwhile he is doing lot other stuffs and FYI, he made few millions in the last 6 months via affiliate marketing, content creation, sponsor and paid to be a motivational speaker on weekends and you know he still continues the 9 to 5 job and managing to work in the remaining time.
1256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does the world still see Bitcoin as a scam, or is it just a lack of interest? on: May 05, 2023, 03:31:28 PM
If I am not wrong not even 5% of world population is using Bitcoin is simply because they don't have any idea what Bitcoin is, maybe they heard the name due to the internet adoption boom in the last few years but there is no knowledge about blockchain technology in the basic syllabus of school and some old rich people throw bad comments on Bitcoin so people are afraid of buying Bitcoin.

But the adoption rate is actually lot faster than other monetary system and FYI it's just a decade old new system is fighting against all the governments, traditional assets, centuries old paper currency system etc so considering all these we are sitting at pretty good adoption rate.
1257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin network fee, worrying sign? on: May 05, 2023, 01:03:42 PM
Sorry for another topic about the recent issue going related to bitcoin network congestion but I really want to know that Bitcoin ordinals so called NFTs is really going to change the fee required for the transaction in the future?

Because I didn't witness such kind of clog since 2017 but by that time there is no segwit, exchanges are clogging the network purposely and so on but later for so many years the fee issue isn't really there but all of a sudden we have to pay over 100 sats for over transaction to get into the block may create a bad image and it will create the FUD and may initiate the price drop.
1258  Other / Meta / Re: Can one use UI to correct grammatical errors? on: May 05, 2023, 12:50:05 AM
Using such tools which is capable of producing the content you wrote into a complete sentence with no grammatical errors and it's just nothing but what grammarly does. But isn't really necessary we need to be accurate in terms of grammar while writing a post, it's okay as long as others can understand so using this tools will not really help you in any way.
1259  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What's highest amount instant exchanges can be trusted with? on: May 04, 2023, 06:19:51 PM
Well, you are right but I am not aware is there any existing instant swap exchange is in operation without KYC.

May be you are confusing instant exchanges with traditional cexes. There are plenty instant exchanges without kyc (only on doubtful transfers you might get asked for kyc). Myself have been using simpleswap since last couple years without kyc.
I didn't know such exchanges are existing even now, the only name I am familiar with the list provided in the link is shapeshift but I think they shutdown their services already and something similar is changelly which has positive as well as negative reviews from the legitimate users so I don't really trust them for any amount.

Thanks for the list buddy but in my opinion I won't trust such exchanges anything over 100 even if I am using it for a while.
1260  Other / Meta / Re: Account rank and posts on: May 04, 2023, 03:59:10 PM
If all my topics that I've started are deleted. Do I still retain my rank ? Junior , Member , Senior etc...  ? ?
If I decide to wipe my profile clean completely, will the rank stay ? Roll Eyes
If you want to delete your posts then yes you can but remember you can't delete a thread which is even created by you so you can only lock and unlock the thread and only mods can delete the thread.

Anyway I wonder why you should care about your rank when you want to wipe your forum profile?

the ranking criteria is simple you need certain activity as well as merit to reach certain rank so if you fail to meet one even not let you there and FYI deleting a post will also create a loss of activity created but in most cases it won't affect the rank because generally number of posts will be higher than number of activity.
